My mom got really, really sick a little over a year ago. I realized that I wanted to change my life and start really LIVING it rather than just hiding away under the fat. I was 268 pounds and totally sedentary and miserable. Now, I'm 198 pounds, I've done two 5ks, two triathlons, a 10k and I have 3 more races before the…

It can - I hit a plateau and bumping up my calories was the only thing that worked. I need to net over 2,000 calories a day to lose.

What are you going to be doing? I love, love, LOVE my asics for running - I over-pronate and they fixed my knee pain right up, but for weight lifting I just wear a pair of converse. I found that anything else prevented me from getting my hips far back enough to do a proper deadlift or squat.
-
I wouldn't run more than every other day, but I also wouldn't stress too much about being "ready" for your 5k: you'll be as ready as you are, you'll kick some serious a**, have a great time, run as much as you can and maybe have to walk a little and get fired up to sign up for your next one so you can't beat your previous…

I have one goal weight that I'm hoping to get to, but I have lots of other fitness, non-weight related goals that I have been able to meet along the way: do a triathlon, run a 10k, and ones that I hope to be able to do soon: squat my body weight, do an olympic distance triathlon, do a half iron man, run a marathon. Those…

You want to net your calorie goal for the day, so yes, that means that if you exercise you need to eat more that day!
-
Triathlons are my first love, so, yeah, you could say that running and biking are my thing :) Boy do I know that runners high!

Coconut milk is my go-to substitute for cow's milk! I'm lactose intolerant and I've found that it tastes the best by far.

I eat it? I've learned that, for me anyway, trying to get the cravings to go away is not going to work. If I make anything off limits, the "diet" is going out the window soon enough and I'm back to binging. So, I work it in to my calories for the day and have a serving rather than going overboard. Been working for me for…

I think it really depends on the person, but I really noticed a difference when I made a commitment to myself to run 3 times a week instead of just 2. Instead of struggling through C25k, I was breezing through the weeks. Now I do three days of running and three days of weight training. But, twice a week is better than…

Smoothie - a banana, frozen fruit, chia seeds, whey protein and coconut milk. So good and really filling!

I just did the second workout.. LOVING IT! I am a little insecure about deadlifts, but you guys are helping. Anyone have tips about squats? I get my thighs almost parallel to the floor and then I feel like I'm going to fall over... if I try to go down anymore, it's leaning forward which is not good. Help??

You are amazing! Congratulations!
-
Haha, already sound like my kind of girl! Thank you!

Bake it! That's my favorite way to have it. Nice texture and you can use pretty much any sauce you want. I do a bunch over the weekend and eat it through the week.
-
I will take you up on that! I don't mind doing some shakes/bars, I just don't want to rely on it for most of my protein. I'd like to figure out a way to get a cleaner diet of whole foods out of all of this! Thanks!
-
Oh man, thank you for this! This looks endlessly helpful as I'm trying to up my protein these days.

1900-2500, depending on if it's a day I've worked out or not.

I count water and seltzer, which is all I drink throughout the day anyway.

I'll have what he's having. *cheers*!

I started at around 200 pounds. Since starting, I have done two 5ks, two triathlons and I have my first 10k in less than two weeks. I'm still 198 pounds now! My suggestion if you are having trouble breathing: slow down a bit. I got to a point where I felt like I wasn't going to run any further - it was around 10 minutes,…

I swim in the pool when it's too cold to train outside. I run on the treadmills when the weather is crappy out. I lift weights. Oh, I sit in the hot tub when I'm sore!

Ahh, reading this totally sounds like my story! Congratulations! You're gonna kill those hills tomorrow!

You mean like a big CD? Amazing work, you are a huge inspiration to me. I am so proud of you!

Me.. my highest weight was in high school at around 290. In college, I got down to 260 and now I'm at the lowest weight I've ever been in my adult life at 196. I don't really have a body or a time that I remember where I was totally comfortable or happy with or a body that I'm aspiring to be back to. I'm just excited to be…

Hey, I was thinking about doing that one!

MY PEOPLE. I'm alright with yogurt and cottage cheese, but I can't do milk at all and too much cheese is a problem but I love cheese too much to give it up. Ice cream is usually a problem, but I rarely eat it. Chocolate doesn't seem to bother me, but I have it in such small amounts, maybe that's why? Whey protein has never…
