Just my old, baggy drag suit from college, swedes, and paddles. I use whatever board the pool has for kicking. Sorry all... I'm not that exciting. ;)

Here's my 5 step process that is sure to make the OP a winner. Step 1: bring workout buddy to gym Step 2: send buddy to girl with little folded up note Step 3: stand in corner Step 4: wait until girls friend brings back note Step 5: open note to see if she checked "yes" or "no" next to the question,"Do you think I'm cute?"

Breath in = float Breath out = sink Give it a try! ;)

Good advice by others to wet your hair prior to swimming. All the girls did that for almost every team I was on. As for me, can't stand having a cap on. I remember high school summers when I could literally break my hair off. I would just shave my head twice a year for the big meets.

Ultra swim shampoo with a VERY good conditioner. For lotions, while I'm not a fan of the feel, Shea butter and coconut oil work really well.

No. It's completely natural. It may ooze out of your nose, but your good otherwise. Just be sure to carry some tissue for your nose. It can be a little embarrassing when someone says, "You got a little something on your face." You're welcome for the help.

Thanks Stephen! (or do you prefer Steve?) I've read up about you on the forum and I'm nothing short of amazed. I'm truly happy for you (and I mean that) for what you've achieved. Losing weight and altering a lifestyle is insanely difficult and it seems you've done it in spades. I've known I've been on a downward spiral for…

Gently, I could have written this! I need to start logging again (I did, several times, but not consistently). I did buy a bunch of new skirts for work this summer, and all (YES, all) were a size too big. I bought one at the "scary small size that I have never been" and wore it today. Go figure. Still, I'm about 10-15 lbs…

I should add... My profile is probably outdated and my pic is easily 2 yrs old. I'll update soon.

^^^ This. My wife is a veg and I'm the cook... therefore... I eat many veg meals too. Quorn, in my humble opinion, is the best meat substitute out there. It's also not soy based. And with my meat eating taste buds... it actually tastes good.

Hey all! I haven't gone very far in the pool in recent yrs, but found myself visiting in-laws w/ my wife over Christmas... in England. During the day, I had alot of time to kill. Therefore, I went to the pool one day and just went for it. The main set I did is posted below, but the total meters was roughly 7,000. Its…

Very low weight shoulder exercises will help you immensely... and this is coming from someone that has had shoulder surgery due to swimming. Even as low of a weight as a can of beans. The movements are less about lifting and more about stabalizing. You can google a million different things to do.

No problem. Also, theres a group on here somewhere for swimmers. They do swimming challenges, etc. And you can check out my blog for a few workouts if you'd like. I'm not saying they're any good, but they're there... :)

Swimmer here. There is 1 obvious thing and 1 maybe not so obvious thing. 1. Yes, breath more. Competitive swimmers will typically breath every 3rd stroke or every other stroke (if they prefer breathing to only 1 side. 2. Are you swimming outdoors? Or are you swimming in a gym pool or a stuffy kinda pool? As a teenager when…

Just get back on the horse the next day. In the grand scheme of things, 1 bad day isn't really bad at all. Its only bad if it carries over from 1 day to the next. I've been at this for over 6 months now and I've binged on more than one occasion. It gets to the point where you realize that it has little to no effect as long…

This falls in line with what I had been trying to explain to my mom my entire childhood: That Pizza contains each of the major food groups. Veggies: tomato sauce & toppings Grains: crust (close enough) Dairy: Cheese... and lots of it Protein/Meat: Meat Lovers Supreme please Somehow, I always knew that one day my genious…

Robin - I think an above poster mentioned it, but UltraSwim is what I and many other swimmers used growing up... until, of course, we simply didn't care anymore. At the age of 17, I'm pretty sure I could break my hair off like peanut brittle, but when we did care, Ultra Swim was the only product made specifically for the…

The simple answer is yes.

Ya know whats most hilarious about this post?? Guess what ad is next to this thread... sure enough! Its the Charlie's Angels premier ad! The only thing, in my opinion, that could make the show OK is the fact that Drew Barrymore is producing it. She usually does good stuff. I'll give it a shot, but will most likely hate it.…

My wife and I say this all the time. To open a HUGE animal shelter/farm where they could roam freely. :)

Does it calculate cals burned? If not, then you really just need to check every 5-10 minutes or so. I guess, I would check it as often as needed to get a good measure of what my HR was at various points in my exercise in order to know what I averaged. Like if I went for a 30 minute jog. I'd probably take it to start, then…

Interesting topic. I'm a dude, not a vegetarian or vegan... my wife is. I think it goes to 2 things: 1. I've seen alot of people (especially on MFP) go the vegan/vegetarian route for health reasons and not necessarily humane reasons. Generally speaking, women are the ones that are more prone to do the "diet" route. Its…

Bring your own food? Nuts, granola bars, sandwiches, yogurt, salad, pasta, fruits, veggies... I could go on.... Every day on the way to work, my breifcase is overflowing w/ food. If there wasn't a fridge here, I'd get a cooler bag.

There's lots of varieties out there that are not whey like like hemp, soy, rice, pea, etc. If you do whey, then its tough to find organic/free roaming. The above poster mentioned Sunwarrior and I think they have an organic whey product as well.

If you do bands and bike at the same time, can I come to the gym and take a picture?? :) I kid, I kid... "Prevailing wisdom" says to do 5-10 minute warm-up, strength training, then cardio. Then there's a person like me who really can't get into a lift session until my heart rate has been bumped up at least twice through…

My green tea is 0 cals and not diet or anything like that. Real green tea comes in a little tea packet of herbs/leaves or the actual leaves. I have 1-2 mugs a day while at work. I honestly didn't even know that companies made green tea in an unhealthy manner. For 350 cals, I'd rather 1.19 slices of pizza.

This is easy. Cowbell around your neck while you sleep... More cowbell!!

2 cups of brown rice, 1/2 cup of black beans, tablespoon of olive oil, and a few veggies. Thats easily a 6-700+ meal and all of it is good for you:)

The OP is hilarious in a good way. All above comments are true, but you could throw in some abs here and there for kicks.
