Yes, I'm happy to have found these boards for that info in particular (probably not a huge secret, but I wasn't that aware, at least about protein). As for starvation mode - it is funny how many people think that you actually won't lose weight if you eat too little. That really doesn't make sense.
-
But, why does your body only burn so much fat per day before it starts burning muscle instead? In a sense, doesn't it try to hang on to fat if it thinks your starving it? It's not that you won't continue to lose (and lose fat) on a deficit, but you'll lose too much muscle if you go too extreme.
-
Yuk, I hope you feel better soon.
-
I hear ya, it just might be more accurate to say "I don't think it means what you think it means" than "it doesn't exist". I will say - whenever I've eaten very little (for whatever reason), I've lost weight very quickly. (Not recommending)
-
This is what I've always understood it to mean, when I've read about it, and what people I've discussed it with in real life have meant when they've referred to it. It's just a layman's term for adaptive thermogenesis. People on these boards often take it to mean something else (although people here also almost always…

Make sure all your food entries include iron counts. Many of the entries don't have micronutrient info included, so the app may not give you accurate number (I was alarmed at how low my iron consumption was when I first started tracking here until I realized it wasn't really being tracked).

Ok, bummer, I like the way it looks. :) It was supposed to be waterproof, but I guess it isn't so I'll probably pass.

I'm curious to see if the heart rate monitor on the Jawbone Up3 works better than the Charge, it's a different technology.
-
I was given to understand that you can't spot reduce fat. So, while you can spot certain muscles, and lose fat, it seems like the fat would come off all over (or wherever it does). I'm no expert, though, I'm kind of confused about recomp.
-
But if you recomp and lower your body fat percentage, won't you lose fat everywhere (even places you don't want to lose anymore fat)? This is something I've been wondering about.
-
Under "Run Tracking" do you have gps checked and not step counter?
-
I think you have your stride set as really long. My distance was way off when I first used it, I think that was it. I switched it to use gps.

Idk. If I wasn't losing weight now I would consider that failing. Most of my life I've been around my "ideal" weight (a few times tipping the balance and becoming too skinny or too heavy for my taste, but it always worked out and went back to baseline without any concerted effort or diet). The last 5 years or so, I moved…

You're welcome, I hope you like it. If you do add hamburger, kind of break it into pieces in the pan with a spatula, brown it, and throw it in and let it simmer in the pot for a while with everything. It's great for leftovers, and freezing, too.

Dietary cholesterol may not cause higher blood cholesterol, but higher blood cholesterol is still very connected to heart disease.

Soluble fiber is supposed to help lower ldl.

If you have rice with beans it's a complete protein (all essential amino acids). I like to cook pinto beans with a ham hock, here's a general recipe. If you add some fried meatballs it's delicious and protein packed (not so low cal but you won't need the rice) :)…

I lost 30 lbs between April and October. I took a break from tracking and cutting between then and last week. I wanted to see if I could maintain without tracking and I wanted a break because I was sick of it (and I was fitting into a lot of nice winter clothes I bought on my way up and had never had a chance to wear). I'm…

Who said she doesn't have curves? They were obviously greatly exaggerated in that fake photo.

Thank you for posting this, the first pic looked fake! OP, barbell hip thrusts and glute bridges are the best for lifting the butt.

The sugar level is not meant to be a minimum. I don't track it myself, but there's no daily requirement for sugar.

@Mr_Knight. Did you say already in this thread where you got that formula .3 x body weight per mile burned? This number is lower than any I'm able to find through numerous sites.
-
Where are you getting your calorie burn number from?
-
I think I'm slightly allergic to eggs. I get really tired when I eat them, it's weird. For years I thought that couldn't be right and would eat them anyway, but it happens every time. Baked goods don't bother me.
-
From where are you getting that formula? It's lower than any I've seen. I like this chart, but I don't know if it's accurate. It factors in speed, too. http://nj2ny50.org/calorie-estimator-how-many-calories-do-you-burn-walking

So really you can't tell how smart someone is unless you grab their a**

No you're right! So maybe it's true!? Seriously, I'm taking any connection between body type and intelligence with a grain of salt...

I have a really sexy monokini bathing suit I wear sometimes. I don't wear it at family outings because I feel like it's too sexy for that, but other times I do wear it in public. Because it's sexy. I know men will look, you can't get mad about that, but there's a line where it crosses to rude and pervy. That's on them. But…

Just be sure the food you've entered into your diary has correct iron counts. Many entries don't include micronutrient info so reports are often inaccurate.
