I'm no help here, because it took me 7 months to lose 30 lbs. That's just a number, though, and I did look a lot better at the 90 day mark. I bet you will, too. :-)

Well, since I retired I don't even HAVE an alarm clock in my bedroom anymore, lol! But...I just wake up. I know if I were having to go to work I'd be hitting the snooze button, but since I don't have to go anywhere I can't seem to stay in the bed. So I get up about 5, drink a cup of coffee, and head out for my walk. I will…

You're not alone -- I've been struggling with my hair falling out for several months now. I take pills for hyperthyroidism but see my endocrinologist every 3 months so my levels are good. I eat far healthier now than I ever did in my life. BUT during the same period of time that I lost my 30 lbs, I also had an abdominal…

I don't run, but I walk early most mornings for an hour or more. I have my coffee (always!) and a granola bar before I head out, and then fix something with protein for my real breakfast when I get back in and cooled off. Usually I have either an egg sandwich (on an Arnold's sandwich thin), or peanut butter toast, along…

Me, too. I've got a favorite pair of lightweight capris that I like to wear for my walk in the mornings, but they are about 3 sizes too big now. I can't find anymore like them with the same configuration of pockets, so I just thread a belt through the loops, fasten it, and roll the waist. I won't win any fashion awards but…

Well, I use my Crocs as my slippers, so I weigh every morning in my jammies and Crocs. Shoes on for me, just because I'm too sleepy to make any adjustments. Plus Crocs don't weigh much anyway.

Do you by chance take a beta blocker medication? We've discussed on another thread how difficult it is to get any training effect while on beta blockers. Just thought I'd mention it...

I've actually had a Whopper Jr., no cheese, a couple of times in the past 5 or 6 months. I ordered bottled water instead of soda and ate 5 or 6 fries. No harm done!

I think some people feel better in the higher end of the range, and some in the lower. I'm hyperthyroid, not hypo, and I take an anti-thyroid medication to control mine. The range on my TSH test is 0.5 to 5.0 I believe, but I feel best between 2.5 and 3. My endocrinologist checks mine every 3 months, and he tweaks my…

As of a month or so ago I don't log calories anymore, but I still weigh every morning (as I did the whole time I was in weight loss mode.) I had been logging since December, so if I haven't learned by now what to eat and how much, I'll never learn, lol! I've actually lost about 3 more lbs since I stopped logging, though,…

Yep, although I lost most of my weight with virtually no exercise, just calorie counting (because of a health problem since taken care of.) Once I got healthy and started walking, though, not only did I continue to lose weight, but I started looking (and feeling) MUCH better. I get up early every morning and walk through…

I had major abdominal surgery the end of February. I just looked back at my weigh-ins for that time, and my weight loss didn't really stall. It looks like I lost 6 lbs in the 8 wks following surgery, so not real FAST weight loss, but typical of how I've lost weight all along. As I recall, I just stuck pretty close to 1200…

hehe. What she said, except I'm in Georgia, not Texas.

I decided to try something different for maintenance. I'm trusting myself to know HOW to eat, and how much. I haven't tracked calories for about a month now, but I still weigh every day (because I've always tracked my weight daily -- it works for me.) Basically I eat when I'm hungry, and if I'm going somewhere that I know…

There's a program in place in Georgia for farmer's markets to accept EBT cards: http://ebtfarmersmarket.com/node/4 Maybe your state does it too? Doesn't hurt to check. But as far as the food delivery goes, I belong to a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) and I get fresh veggies/fruits for $15 a week. Not delivered…

When I DON'T want to stop traffic is when I'm walking, alone, through my dark neighborhood streets in the early mornings. I went shopping for workout clothes again last night, and found it very hard to find something to meet my needs -- sweat-absorbing, with pockets (for my phone and pepper spray), and not skin-tight. I…

I have trouble enough sleeping without adding hunger to the mix, lol! I always eat a snack before bed -- these days it's usually strawberry Chobani yogurt. It didn't affect my weight loss at all (I'm on maintenance now), although when I was counting calories more strictly I just allowed for the extra calories in my daily…

I love Chobani, particularly strawberry and blueberry. I like to freeze it, then eat it when it's about halfway thawed out.

What are the odds that you would post that question? I'm in the process of being weaned off of nadolol tabs right now, and I've taken them for years and years. I was prescribed them to help control the symptoms from my mitral valve prolapse, but times have changed and even though I still have MVP there's not as much…

I joined a multi-farm CSA in January and it has gone a long way toward changing my eating habits for the better. I get so excited over seeing what's in my box every week! Yesterday I got corn, slicing tomatoes, heirloom tomatoes, heirloom bellpeppers (purple), jalapenos, butterbeans, yellow squash, vidalia onions, lettuce,…

Oh, you are so lucky! I hate buying eggs from the grocery store. Right now I'm using eggs from my friend's farm, which I gathered myself the other day when I was there on a visit. They are so good. I usually eat one in the mornings when I get back in from my walk.

When I'm hungry I eat. In fact, I try very hard to actually not let myself get really hungry. I've gone from thinking I have to have 3 set meals a day to just eating when I start feeling hungry, and that is usually more than 3 times a day. For example, on a normal day I get up early (around 5 a.m.) and drink my morning…

I think for me the thing about processed/packaged foods is that they usually have more calories than fresh food, so I can't eat as much of them. Once I started making the effort to buy fresh veggies and fruits, my tastes changed. This morning I woke up and realized I didn't have any fresh fruit in the house and almost…

I third (fourth?) the recommendation to log the calories BEFORE you eat them. That helped me so many times in the past 6 months. If I truly don't know how much I'm going over my calorie count it's easy to just pretend I don't care. But if I know right out of the gate exactly how much of something I can eat and still stay…

I have hyperthyroidism also, but when mine was uncontrolled I GAINED weight (crazy, I know.) Apparently for some of us the souped-up metabolism makes you so hungry that you overeat and gain, not lose. Anyway, mine has been controlled (taking tapazole) for a few years now, so it doesn't seem to be an issue with my weight…

A great new swimsuit, and a self-confident attitude! It's a lesson I'm trying to learn myself, but I truly believe it -- if we carry ourselves with pride we look so much better overall. I'm my own worst enemy, because I'm pretty sure at the beach most people are far more concerned with their own business than with my…

I keep a baggie of chopped onions and peppers in the freezer, and I keep my whole wheat sandwich thins frozen also. When I'm ready for breakfast I take a spoonful or so of the frozen onions/peppers and put in a ramekin and pop it into the microwave for about 20 seconds. While waiting for that I put a sandwich thin into the…

Woo-hoo! Another week has passed, and I'm bumping this thread to say again, so far, so good. I started trying to maintain when I was within a couple of lbs of my goal. Still not tracking calories but eating the way that I know I should without obsessing about it...and I've lost another pound! And this past week I was…

I was trying to lose 30-32 lbs total, and I've lost 30 so far. It's taken pretty close to 7 months for me.

I'm checking back in on this thread to say that this is day 9 of NOT tracking my calories and so far, so good. :) Even though I wouldn't mind losing another 2 lbs, I decided to start trying maintenance by just eating healthy foods (surely I know how to do that by now, lol) and beginning to figure out how to live my life…
