  • no ride anymore for me. I was hoping I could go out yesterday morning after work, but it was raining:cry:
  • Impressive numbers shorerider:flowerforyou:
  • Yes, it does. Downhill
  • When I started counting here I found that after some exercise I had so many calories to eat that I just could not eat that much. So I started on days when I have planned to exercise a lot to eat some of them before I even start exercising. Works good for me as I need that base for long bike rides. But I still usually do…
  • Today my ride took me on a tour through Delaware and Maryland. After my "accidental" 70 mile ride last week I had to ride more than that and mapped a nice route on Mapmyride. I was really not as motivated as I usually am. It was foggy and humid and hot an just plain not nice at the start at 8 am. Even thought about cutting…
  • Welcome to the biking group cpumpkins:flowerforyou: As a general rule you should pedal as easy as you can without having the feeling that you spin out... i.e. it gets uncomfortable. Shift down early on that hill. As shorerider said usually beginners tend to pedal to hard, meaning they use muscle power and then get tired…
  • My plan for this week is: Tuesday : ----20 (at least) Wednesday : 80 Thursday: ----depends how I feel Saturday:40 if I am not too tired after work Since I am already almost there I am thinking about trying the full century in August already instead of October. Which would mean I will not go to the Seagull shore:cry: .
  • I think that the least expensive computer will do just fine. Unless you are a pro and really do something with all that extra information. It's what I did. Bought a model at a sale from one of these online bike stores. Does not have to be wireless either. In fact I have heard that if you have lights on your bike ( which I…
  • Wow Bamboo! Great job!:flowerforyou:
  • Sorry to hear that Bamboo. i don't do doctor's well either. Hope it get's better soon.
  • Nice bike Bamboo! A friend of mine had a Peugotm wa the first dream road bike I have ever seen. That was a few years ago:blushing: But they were great bikes back them. Did not know they sold them here in the US too.
  • I did not fall of the earth, just very busy. My week starts Saturdays because of wrok schedule and because it just worked out like that. This Saturday was a group ride with the local bicycle club. I worked 12 hours that night but was lucky that I had to sit 8 of them, i.e. I was not on my feet all the time. so I thought…
  • Take a bike and ride as far as you cofortably can and then a little further. Take that milage and add 10% every week. Aim to ride at least 3 x a week. Take a week breal after three weeks. Start with a 20% - 25% higher milage. Make that plan until November and you'll get a pretty good idea what milage to give them.
  • Welcome to MFP :flowerforyou: ! It is a lot like WW online. You'll like it.
  • Good job! I am very impressed, heck I can't even run longer than 3.4 minutes, yet alone 34!
  • Nice Bamboo! Don't forget to take a break! 50 shorerider huh? Congratulations!:flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: 100+ miles a week is a serious effort, nice going both of you. I could not resit. It is actually still my break week, but.... what can I say. We had a ride with the bike club at my…
  • Of course you'll make it shorerider! Takre a short break every once a while. Take some food with you too! It's a long ride. Good luck and have fun! Tailwinds
  • shorerider :I'm afraid with a 24" inseam it won't fit:frown: And yes, the "Wunderkind" is me. Surprised you know that word! Bamboo: I really have no idea what to do with that bike, it is just sitting here and collecting dust.
  • Princess I am SCHOCKED! What an unusual tone from you! No. You are NOT any of these things. If anything people who send around notes with comments like this are stupid! They do not know you, your efort, weight, parameters... how would they know what your RM should say???????? As long as it works OK, trust your HRM and…
  •             I started drinking soy milk because these days you don't know what really is in the "real" milk and I too discovered I like it. I am not menopausal obviously and don't know about any benefits, just followed the advise of…
  • Never thought about that. I would not know what to ask and how to ship it:embarassed:
  • bsktsembears: I ride a recumbent myself and chat a lot with the people in the online forum of the company that produces the bike. A reallynice group. Also, chek your local listings or Internet and try it. It all depends on the group and how much you like group rides. I ride alone usually, but I enjoy a ride with the local…
  • Glammy: many people measure their ride in time, not miled. That's fine. Like shorerider said, keep increasing your time. Just a little, no more than 15% each week. Remember to take a break after 3 weeks. Work on increasing frequency ( how often you ride per week). I started in March riding 4 miles = 15 minute. Now I am at…
  • Neome, we just recently had a posting about depression where a lot of people who battle that said exercise helps a lot. Not just helps. It helps a lot. The biggest problem being depressed is probably to convince yourself to get out and actualy do the exercise. I have no rady made solution for that in my sleeves. I can se…
  • I think that is a very good decision Jenn! Look, I understand that 1 pound a month is not much. I'd be frustrated too. try to change the parameters. You already changed goals I read. Maybe try to exercise more or do different exercise. As a mom, working full time and school it is very difficult to find the time for that, I…
  • I'd rather pat you on the shoulder. You accomplished a lot lady! Don't let your head mess with you now! You lost already so much weight, if right now you just maintained it that is wonderful. Being back to your exercise routine you will most likely start loosing weight again too.
  • WOW Baboo you rock!!!! Run AND bike? Add a few rounds in the pool and you'll be a triathlete!
  • Sorry about the previous wrong post. Your rides are not only great soccermom, you can not compare 60 minutes on the mountain bike to what some of us are doing on the road bike. Much hrder to ride 60 minutes on a mountain bike and a trail than on the road! (Saying that I believe the exercise part on this site does not…
  • See how a week break helps? As to the bike: check what size frame you need and then we can talk. Seagull: Even if I can not persuade you by then to ride the full 100 we should at least meet. I might not have the time when school starts anyway to get up to 100 and end up just riding the metric. But provided I get that…
