I'm getting interested as well about the fitbit, but now I want to figure which one i want. OP, I found the flex online at walmart. I did see the fitbit hr (the one I originally wanted) for under $150. The fitbit flex is under $100. http://www.walmart.com/ip/Fitbit-Flex-Wireless-Activity-Sleep-Band/26469465…

Keep up with what i'm doing and be able to lift heavier weights :sunglasses: edit to add. And walk faster.

Same topic, different wording, same user. I don't understand how anyone can actually help someone who want's to drink 1/2 their calories in alcohol. This seems scary dangerous. Good luck Op and I hope you find peace and resolution to your problem with alcohol. As has been suggested, try some more exercise and try drinking…

Thank you as well.

That's cool, it felt like I was going much faster then when I started 2 months ago  I have lots of time, writing, drawing, taking pictures..etc Not a whole lot of movement. I work on the computer alot from home. Not only do the walks, step aerobics (included weights over 2 weeks ago), help with getting in shape,…

oh, that may not have read well. I meant that each time I go for 40 minutes that's 8 times around. I am working up the my 3rd 40 minute walk and hopefully get in a 4th for 160 minutes for the day.
-
I walk around a block and takes me 5 minutes each round. I've been doing this 8 times around 2 x today, then another later (maybe 2 more times) I think I got the idea now with gMaps pedometer site. Now my feeble brain wants to figure out the 5 minute rounds of the 0.336 of a mile i'm walking, what speed i'm walking at…
-
I just did this :) so with 0.336 I just need to find out how many mph I walked in every 5 minutes around  This has been fun. Thanks again!

bookmarking link now! Thanks. I'm glad I asked, getting lots of help so appreciated.

Thanks  I'm checking out mapmywalk right now and will check google maps as well.

I've gotten what I need to know for now. I appreciate your tips

I just signed up with my FB account. Now I'm navigating the site...

Awesome getting some great tips here. Very motivating! I just came back from my second walk and really pushed myself :triumph: Challenging myself to get passed 130 steps per minute, but counting in my head is messing with me ha ha  I'm going to check out mapmyrun, mapmywalk and check into a fitbit one. Gonna do a…

I'm going to check that out! Thanks

This is good to hear! I've been back and forth with wether to get the fitbit or not. I may have to wait longer than I predicted if I do decide to get it, but the more I hear positive stuff about it, the more I want it:)

Much appreciated. I had a pedometer, but it cr@pped out on me in the first week (10 bucks at Walmart). I tested my stride and it was a bit over 2 feet, but forgot the method I tested it. I'll be saving up for a pedometer again. I was going to save for a fitbit hr, but it looks like i'm not getting that at the moment.…

nope, no smartphone, just a lan line. I only have my laptop.

I don't have the distance, yet. I was trying to figure it out by counting my steps/per minute, periodically through my walk at my most sustainable rate and going by that.
-
I appreciate this, but I need to use the car and find out how far it is to circle to long blocks. 1 time around is 5 minutes for me now. I'm doing 7 to 8 now for each walk through the day. I'll book mark this for when I can figure out the distance  Thank you
-
I push to hit 130 + steps, but then I'd start jogging, which I don't want to do. I'd rather walk more.
-
The person in the quotes is not me. I know i'm not walking 6 mph  I'm trying to figure out if I'm walking 3 mph or 3.5 mph.
-
I'm re reading my post... ??? I am wondering if i'm walking 3 mph or 3.5 mph at 127 - 129 steps per/minute

I'm 154 cw (starting 163 two months ago) I'm 5.5" 47 y/o. I'm learning this as well. Although i'd been still shedding size over the past 2 months and per the advice of other members here, I stuck to only eating back 1/2 or less of my exercise calories. I picked a few days ago for an example of MFP calories burned for over…

Waitressing can burn plenty of calories depending on a shift. When I waitressed (off and on for 20 some odd years), I was always fit and did not need to focus on calories. I was much younger then. I did not eat or snack at work, because I was constantly moving, carrying trays, prebussing, refilling, stocking, sidework...…

No I don't have this issue, but if your looking for help, you should open your food diary. You may get better advise that way. Good Luck on your fitness journey!

Under 100 calories. It's my afternoon "go to snack". Cucumber, tomatoes/raw mushrooms (or both), apple cider vinegar/lemon juice, garlic powder, pepper, dried oregeno and salt. I make it look pretty and it gets me till dinner:)

From your profile pic, you don't in anyway look obese. I'm sure there would be a noticable difference, but you don't have other pictures to compare to. Congrats on the 80 Lbs down. That's a remarkable achievement!
