I love raw mushrooms sliced on sliced cucumbers. Salt, vinegar/lemon, pepper, garlic powder and hot red pepper flakes. I can make a huge plate for well under 100 calories. Yummers

Beef! 100% real Beef. So freeking expensive just for ground round. Which I am treating myself next months shopping trip. A real beef burger!

You'll be a good influence on her, hopefully. Congrats on your progress 7 Lbs Awesome! I just out of curiosity looked up 44 oz coke and full size snickers bar, so 462 + 250 = 712, 30 minutes moderate intensity workout even burning 1/2 the 712 is still 356 calorie burn (that's a hella burn for 1/2 hour) so yeah more than 2x…

I like this example

Well said. I finally did up my intake to give me a 0.5 Lb loss per week to 1420/set at sedentary + 20 to 50% workout calories. I am feeling great which makes me think I can keep this up as my lifestyle. 1200/day, I was weak and my workouts/energy suffered.

I think (know) I won't take them. I don't recommend them and I would avoid all types of them. imo.

Maybe not faster, but definately more sustainable. I'm losing size still, the scale moves slow (which is fine with me), i also add exercise and now recently added 4x/wk lifting 1.5 hours/sessions. It's still calories in/calories out, for me that is.
-
I second that! Thanks for the motivation

I have no answers, but very interested as well. I do lots of cardo, but only just started lifting a bit over 2 weeks ago, 4x a week, 1.5 hours (approx) per session. I don't know if it's mental, or real, but I feel stronger. I am eating at a deficit and still learning where my calorie goals should be at. I don't feel…

They could, but I like Hot, really hot and some varieties of wasabi peas can be hotter than others. I have had some where I have to just let my toung "sweat" in between bites. So, a serving can last me a while. I also drink loads of water, which doesn't really stop the heat  I did and still do make the mistake (I…

I love veg, no doubt, but I like to have loads of veg sometimes w/ full fat dressings/or a low cal dressing and extra full fat parmasean, I love full fat mayo on broccoli or salad with vinegar. The fat adds more calories as well, but it tastes better, i'm fuller longer, (bathroom trips are more pleasant)..etc. A BLT is not…

Woot woot! Totally awesome OP!

ohhh yeah! I love them. They are not too different calorie wise, about 40 less or so per 35gm, but they weigh a bit less so more volume and whoa they can get hot, so I do eat less. I love peanuts, but I could go overboard easy, hot or not. That and the oh so lovely crunchy peanut butter!…

I'm being a bit selfish in this thread, because I'm still learning my calorie balance. I think 1800 calories a day is very safe and doable for losing .5 to 1 Lb a week, so long as the exercise is consistant. I don't think I would lose more than that without the exercise. On days of no exercise (outside of daily stuff,…

I am thankful for that as well. I can imagine how maddening it must be to be famished after a workout. I enjoy the buzz it gives me as well as the great side effects, quality sleep, focus (mental), attitude, etc. Also what you mentioned about water. I am making the habit of drinking a lot directly after and/or durning…

This is where exercise helps me lose size. By clearing my mind, I mindfully eat. When my mind is racing or jumbled I would eat mindlessly, not even tasting what I was eating after the first few bites. Now I take a long time to eat what I am eating, feel full faster and longer as well as understanding if i'm thirsty or…

Yup, workouts supress my appetite. I have learned that it's that I'm actually thirsty. I quence my thirst an I have no desire to eat for hours. But my mindset is changing the more I learn. I workout mainly for the "rush" of endorphins. So much better than Ativan! I sleep better, i'm more patient, I just "feel" all around…

I agree. I can eat a lot more food, with cucumbers, tomatos, fish, chicken, and fresh fruit...etc Such variety. I will in the future have a treat, but this type of food feels like a treat to me and I eat till I'm satisfied. Also, I find that since I started disciplining myself to down 20 oz's of water right after or…

I just googled this. And I can totally see how some can get the wrong idea about exercise burns: "A 130-pound person swimming freestyle for one hour will burn 590 calories swimming fast, and 413 calories swimming slower. A 155-pound person swimming freestyle for one hour will burn 704 calories swimming fast, and 493…

I'm so glad you said this. I don't want to read this article, so now I don't have to. I was having a lighter exercise day yesterday. I had to run a bunch of errands (I don't include that in my exercise calories in my diary) and walked 100 minutes + 32 minutes of step aerobics. MFP burn calulates 760 calories burned. I ate…

No deaf ears here. I did the same throughout my life. Sometimes life circumstances would happen and I just would not eat and after, thought "happily" at the time, wow, I lost weight, just to put it back on plus more (wow, should there be so many comma's in that sentence?). Then the times I would just restrict so much and…

Quite reasonably well said

Me likes this method of thought

I totally get it. It was tough at first, but for the meantime, I just cut them out of my plan (for now that is), but I am getting to the point where I will start having some chocolate, ice cream, etc. I am (for now) sticking with fruit, yogurt for my sweets. I've been pretty good so far. Hubby's having almond poppy seed…

You meant 195  But, seriously, just keep reading and learning. I learned that weighing my food out, exercise and patience is paying off. I still am learning. You made the start, you'll get there

Good Man he is!

Wow, I'm in an ultra nice mood tonight... Must be the yummy salmon, asparagus and rice dinner :) Love them omega's. OOOhhhh and a night time walk, then a fresh fruit plate with yogurt

Me too, but maybe she'll be thinking about it and the lightbulb will turn on for her.

Remember the media, mags, IDK, but "they" were claiming that there was negative calorie veggies and fruit. Ohhhh, I so wanted that to be true! But, yeah, i'm sure the OP (hopefully) meant very few calories in the veg.
