Our family is vegetarian, and my 8 year old daughter is very picky. If she could live on apples she would. She dislikes cheese, except for sheep's milk which I think tastes like you're actually licking the bottom of a sheep (which, of course, I have never done :)). That said, I buy it for her regularly because I know…

As others have said, you can eat anything you want and lose as long as you're maintaining a calorie deficit. Estimate how many calories are in that donut, and how much exercise it would take to burn it off. Then, if you can, do the exercise before getting the donut. One of three things will probably happen: 1. You'll…

For all the people who said they ate from their garden, that's a really good point. Make sure you are getting nice fresh vegetables, because they taste better. I don't want to get in an organic/non-organic debate here, but in my experience, fresh organic vegetables taste much better than non-organic. Carrots, tomatoes,…

I'm sure your boyfriend was very excited to be with you at the beach in that bikini. That said, it's pretty sexy, and I would be uncomfortable wearing a bikini like that around my family. (Dad? Brothers?) It it were me, I would save that suit for the beach with my boyfriend and friends, and wear one with more…

I like soup a lot and it tends to be low in calories, so I make my own soup at work with broth, veggies, greens, and some protein sourc. I always use about 1tsp reduced sodium vegetable "Better than Bullion", dissolved in about 2 cups hot water. Chop up a big leaf of swiss chard, add any left over vegetables I have from…

I'm 5'4" (or maybe 5'3.5" I think I've been rounding up most of my life). My starting weight was 152. Original goal weight was 125 but I've settled around 120/122.

This article was interesting to me: "‘Use-by’ dates: A myth that needs busting" http://grist.org/food/2011-11-18-use-by-dates-a-myth-that-needs-busting I do have to say that I'm one of those people who looks at the dates on food and if it's past that, I throw it out. But I've started to try to lighten up on that because…

I got a Magic Bullet blender, but it decided to return it. There were just too many PARTS! I mean, I have decent cabinet space, but it was hard for me to take up so much room for one appliance. I took it back and got a Cuisinart stick blender which I use for smoothies. I mostly use frozen fruit for the 'icy' part.

I see that a 30 pound loss is your goal. That's how much I've lost and although my butt wasn't that big before, it's pretty much non-existent now. So, you're going to lose some weight there. I have noticed that the women who use the Stairmaster and are leaning forward so that they appear to be hanging on for dear life seem…

I regularly eat oatmeal for breakfast. I use the quick cooking oats, cook with water, and after they're done I add 1/4 c almond milk, 1 T chopped nuts, and whatever fruit I have around (like 1/2 an apple or a banana). I also recently found this recipe for Refrigerator Oatmeal:…

Oh my goodness! My kids might even eat that! I wish I had seen this before I went to the store today. Yummy!

It usually helps me to have some plain almonds... 14 nuts is only 80 calories!

We love our Sodastream. Like  ! We mostly drink it plain, although we do sometimes flavor it with juice or lemonade. We've also used the Sodastream sparkling water flavors. My kids are used to drinking "bubble water" instead of soda, so they really like it.

My advice would be to make sure you always have a plan with regard to what you are going to eat on the days you work. Also, don't even start with making it okay to have a "little nibble of this" or a "bite of that" from the food that you prep. If you do, it will be really hard to stop. We always have treats at work, not…

My boss always has a bowl of candy on her desk, and we often have snacks in the kitchen. I find it's easiest to cut that stuff out completely. If I have a little, then every time someone says "Donuts in the kitchen!" I'm there. I'm not saying stop eating it all together. But it might be a good idea to say "I can go get…

~250 calories from 1500 this week, so I lost my final life. :( Sorry, I'm out!

Gojee! http://www.gojee.com/food/recipes You can put "vegan" in "I dislike" and it will exclude all non-vegan ingredients.

I lost another life with Thanksgiving and family visiting last week, so I'm down to just one. But I'll keep trying as long as I can! :)

We are having Thanksgiving with two sides of the family this year, and one happened already on Saturday. The things I learned from that: 1. Try to workout in the morning before you go to dinner. I always thought it was crazy when I saw those people jogging the day of Thanksgiving, but this year, I did it myself. It made me…

I don't think it's going to replace cheesesteak, but I really like the Tofurkey deli slices. I like to make a grilled cheese with 5 slices (5 slices = one serving = 120 cal). I know what you mean about the pulled "pork". I can't remember the brand, but I had something like that ones and it was way to chewy. Some of my…

Gojee (http://www.gojee.com/food/recipes/) is a great site with drool worthy pictures of recipes. It allows you to enter ingredients you "crave" and "dislike". If you put "vegetarian" in 'dislike' it will automatically exclude all meat recipes. The only problem I see with it is that the recipes don't tend to have calorie…

Awesome! Expect a friend request from me. :) I'm a vegetarian and have been raising my kids to be vegetarian since they were born (they're 7 and almost 6 now). I'm always looking for new ideas. I found a great site recently with glorious pictures of delicious looking recipes. Check it out: http://www.gojee.com You can put…

Here's a good resource for you: http://www.ewg.org/foodnews/summary/ It has a list of the "Dirty Dozen" (buy organic) and the "Clean 15" (conventional produce lowest in pesticide residue).

I only run in well populated areas and I don't wear headphones. I know it's hard, but if you're wearing headphones, you're distracted. You need to be able to hear people, cars, and be aware of what's around you.

I've been thinking the same thing lately. I'm at my goal weight (5'4" and 122 pounds) and wearing a size 4 pants. The thing is, these pants seem big and I think I could go down to a size 2. A size 2? I have never been a size 2 in my adult life! About 20 years ago, I was running an hour a day, weighted 120 pounds, wore a…

It looks like the spreadsheet is messed up again. :frown: There are a bunch of rows with blank names. Are you able to lock everything but weeks moving forward after a particular week has officially "closed"? I don't know much about Google Docs myself.

I am also a vegetarian, and I think it's good to mix it up and not rely to heavily on one particular type of food. We tend to eat a lot of tofu, so we've started using almond milk in cereal and other things. My husband uses it when he makes mashed potatoes and he said it doesn't have that bitter taste you can get with soy…

I do. Although most of the time I have plain. For reference, I don't count anything else but regular water or fizzy water as "water". (In my book, tea, coffee, diet soda -- whatever -- do not qualify!)

I totally agree. In fact, I try to save up calories so I have some left at the end of the night. Are you really eating all your calories? If you're even over by a little bit (<100) occassionally, you'll be fine. Eat a high quality piece of chocolate for around 80 calories. That will satisfy your sweet tooth!

I've always heard what other people are saying -- after 300-500 miles or 3-6 months your running shoes should be replaced. The last time I bought shoes (at a quality quality running store) I asked the guy who was helping me about that. He gave me that standard line and then said "I can't afford to replace my running shoes…
