So far no carnivore has laid down in the road or painted Big Ben.

I'm not quite carnivore but, I'm close. I ate 6 hamburger patties one day and lost weight for that week. I try to keep my carbs and sugars low, very low. I think around 50 carbs per day. For the first time in my life I feel I'm on a sustainable meal plan. I don't call it dieting, it's meal planning. Several carnivore diet…

Nothing. I was going to have a Salmon fillet. Instead, I'm fasting until my son's cookout. Some days I have two boiled eggs. He's having hamburgers and hotdogs. Since I'm low carb I won't have any buns. I'll use lettuce as a wrap. Loved this question.

I'm 70 and in mid-December I was diagnosed with Type II Diabetes. My A1C was 14.7. The day before I went to the doctor I fainted while getting ready for work. Last Thursday My A1C was 6.3. My doctor was elated. She had a note to herself to order me insulin. She tore it up in front of me. I have an unusual perspective. My…

Make it simple, cut carbs and sugars. This has worked for many people including myself. Some even quit counting calories and still lose weight. My best wishes.

Here are my thoughts and like others I am definitely not an expert. You are in a tough situation. You pretty much have to eat what's in front of you. Here are some things you can try; avoid pasta, rice, potatoes. Focus on eating meat. Hamburger and roasts work well. No bread and sweets. You won't miss them in short order.…

I definitely don't process carbs like a used to. I've dieted for a long, long time. I've lost weight and I gained it back several times. I counted calories when everything was on menu. I had to starve myself to lose weight. Now I don't have to. I eat very well. The difference is I'm eating very low carbs. Today was around…

I have never posted a selfie before. I can't get my picture to post. Sigh!

I've yo-yo'd for years. What I've found sustainable for me is cutting carbs and sugar, especially the highly processed food. I'm down 95 lbs. That's been over the last 1.5 years. I would say counting carbs is more important than counting calories. I wish you much success!

I appreciate your sincerity and it's very well written. I've found dieticians still pull out the food pyramid and the divided plate. The food pyramid should be retired. It was a marketing scheme promoted by only one man. The divided plate is terrible for us diabetics. They have one third of the plate just for carbs. The…

I'm praying that you overcome this addiction. Personally, I have never had a problem. I liked a beer now and then and wine on holidays. Fate stepped in, every time I had some wine I wouldn't feel good. Turns out I had a bad case of Diabetes, A1C of 14.7. That's what you get when you are morbidly obese for years. 95 pounds…

That visceral fat is stubborn.

I've been fasting quite a bit. My goal is to get rid of diabetes and from what I've seen that's a big part of the cure. Fasted 18 hours today. I had a CT Scan this morning. Last Saturday through Monday I fasted 45 hours. My blood sugar dropped into the normal range, 105 and 106. That shows it's possible. I imagine some…

Back to fasting. I have to fast all day today and until 1pm tomorrow for a procedure I'm having tomorrow.

Seems that Celiac Disease has some things in common with diabetes. That is stay away from carbs.

First, what a great question. I know people who have been in maintenance for over 10 years using this app. I haven't had as much success. I've lost weight and then gained it back several time over 10 years. These days I use it as an index of sorts. I want to know what my calories are to be sure I'm on the right track, but…

I know that victory! I drive for an organization that takes people to doctor appointments and dialyses. Ever since I started the job I had to use an extension. After losing 91 pounds I certainly don't need it now. Just a big congratulations on that victory!

I was able to climb a ladder for the first time in years. My garage ceiling is 10 feet high. I climbed it to put a new LED light in. I had no difficulty with the climb. Normally, my son would do this for me. Today it was me!

I'm not eating insects (intentionally). Animals that eat insects have developed a way to digest them and as far as I know humans haven't. Let the WHO eat them. That'll be a great way to keep them at bey.

I'm retired. What I used to do was go for short walks when I took a bathroom break. I was trying to get my 250 steps in each hour. To answer your question, I just kept track of time. Emails can generally wait. If it was pertinent they would have called. Also, you can read the email and think about the response while you're…

I've been dieting for years. This year I stopped. I now do meal planning. I do count calories but only as an index of sorts. Being exact is impossible. My only little morsel of advice is to cut carbs and sugars. Those are the monsters hiding under your bed.

Many great posts both pro and con. I've fasted several times since I started this thread. I found 18 hours is too much for me. I did 15 hours just yesterday. What shocked me was my glucose levels went up. I don't quite understand it. I guess it's because your body is dumpling stuff into your system. How's that for being…

First, lowering your A1C to 4.5 is a wonderful accomplishment. The Nurse Practitioner gave me a list of what not to eat and what to eat. It was a great starting point. Then it was to Google, Can a diabetic have..........? The problem with Google the first answer mostly seemed to be the wrong answer. I would dig a little…

First thing, buy an Activity Tracking Watch. My daughter bought me one and my weight loss took off. I'm down 40 plus pounds. I would concentrate on the how more than the why. The why you will probably figure out along the way. Even a one pound loss will change your morale. My best wishes!

I have been catching up on some old postings today. I ended up buying Giant Crossover bike and I bought from a local shop. So I took so many of yours advice. However, I haven't rode it for a year but I'm getting ready to once again. I fell and all but broke my arm. It took months to heal and then I've had some life matters…

It has been awhile. I finally ended ordering pants from Amazon and they fit!! In fact I've been fairly steady updating my wardrobe. Now that I'm finally losing weight again I may be changing sizes once more.

Ditto to MPH. Who buys his beer? You need to go too. Perhaps your whole family does. This isn't to demean but this is a family crisis. My heart and prayers are with you.

I'm not a vegetarian but there are weeks where I will go 3 or 4 days with no meat. I do find that rewarding. Usually it's when I have cabbage soup (Which I love) or some type of vegetable soup. I probably should explain rewarding. What I mean by that is I'm don't feel sluggish while my body is trying to digest some meats.…
