  • Just catching up - a busy few days and only 5k steps yesterday! I have a vision of you running around someone garden in and out of the sprinkler @martaindale ! Congratulations on reaching 500 miles @tarun_yadavA , I am only about 465 behind you! I don't have any race photos, one day, and when I do get one I sure it will…
  • My first non-stop mile running today! Only another 25.2 to tack on at the end. Time was 12:04.6 which is fine for my goals, it is all about the distance right now. I have this very odd thing where my arms want to cross in front of my body as I run. I have to keep correcting them but the crossing seems to natural. Is this…
  • Good morning All, I am impressed by everyone taking the trials that come their way and so happy to see everyone taking steps forward. The sun is shining with me and wk 5 of C25K is going well. Tomorrow should be the first time in 2 years I run a mile without any walking, Have a great Sunday everyone!
  • I had a break for nearly two years after knee issues. Every run is like "oh no, another twinge". I haven't got an answer other than the more I run the less it seems to be at the front of my mind. It is really important to listen to your body - I wish I didn't ignore it as often as I do!
  • Time to start the 'flat' free moving liquid in outer space movement
  • It is Abbey Road in the UK, it is a zebra crossing a zebra crossing. The orange lights are belisha beacons. Cross walk is such a dull name!
  • Roll on two weeks @martaindale No stopping you now @chris_in_cal I have no idea what the mileage is on my shoes so I guess I need to move to a new pair fairly soon. Today's C25K seemed tougher for both me and the friend I run with. No idea why. We will still move on to week 5 on Thursday. I have started yoga - nobody said…
  • Well done @chris_in_cal on the 5k, especially the extra yards to make sure you completed the full 5k. I am still doing Wk4 so I am aiming for July. Hoping it is not too hot.
  • Started wk4 C25K today, not easy though I seemed to keep my HR zones steady. Even managed to dodge the rain.
  • Thanks @BrianSharpe the plan is to run at least two officials halves and hopefully a few unofficial ones. Getting the hang of listening to my body, the person I run with is definitely quicker and I am happy to run at my pace and have a smile at the end. I have started WK4 and all seems good though as you said…
  • If I am honest @kgirlhart I just run listening to the voices in my head - that space is crowded enough! Love that view @AlphaHowls Glad you are feeling better @Scott6255 Forgot to start my watch on yesterday's C25K, never mind. Moving on to week 4 on Friday.
  • Another beautiful day. Hope the sun is shining (not too brightly) with you all
  • Hi @Teresa502 they were meringue clouds, I doctored them to fill them with strawberries and cream. Good to see you again @katharmonic Feels a long process with C25K, believe in the process though!
  • I hope you Mum is better very quickly @quilteryoyo and they have another tennis party soon! Everyone seems to be running in silly temperatures and we barely break 15° C (59° F). Great runs @Scott6255 and @kgirlhart I am on target, lost another kilo this week so under 20 stone - lots to go! Had an afternoon tea today whilst…
  • Humidity is such a zapper @martaindale and I had to drop out just playing golf in 95% humidity after 9 holes. Great run! Welcome back @noblsheep Loving the 5k plan @chris_in_cal and hope to reach your distance in the next couple of months. I'll only update my mileage at the end of the month. Tried two exercise sessions…

  • And I thought you had popped in a Ultra because you were bored on a Tuesday afternoon @kgirlhart Still wouldn't mind being a mile behind you! Loving the inspiration I am getting from all of you  On the plus side the chaffing seems to have eased up a bit.
  • That is so me! Always support the people who provide the service and would definitely buy in the store that did the gait analysis. I wouldn't go to Amazon though I plan on visiting the Nike, Adidas and Asics outlets that are an hour or so away for a better price on the next pair. I have been wearing the same pair of shoes…
  • I never really thought about it like that @AnnPT77 and have generally taken what MFP tell me as gospel. Best keep a closer eye on it! Good wun (walk and run) today for C25K Wk 2 and my heart rate zones continue to improve. Thinking of getting a gait analysis or would it be too early?
  • Fantastic @AlphaHowls and you are quite the inspiration! Small target for me working through C25K this month so: Wun 33 miles Walking 70 miles I have gone for walking as we can't use the term wog in the UK. https://news.sky.com/story/essex-pub-that-displayed-golliwog-dolls-graffitied-and-vandalised-12859003
  • Thank you for the help everyone. I have ordered the bodyglide @Djproulx and a percussion gun @whitedd7 which my SO is very keen to try. Mixing up the routine is definitely in the plan, @littlegreenparrot1 swimming seems a sensible option for low impact at my current weight and I am going to sign up for a month to see if I…
  • A good start @AnnPT77 @Djproulx almost, but not quite a stone down in the first month and I will keep focusing on this. Give or take a couple of years we sound like we have the same starting point @springlering62 and would love to hear your success story. The one thing I can definitely say - the chaffing is real!
  • Great running @Teresa502 and nothing like a bit of competition to push you on. You know Rob was going "One last push to catch up"! Only just moving on to Wk2 of C25k so a little premature being back in the running group. I wish my body would figure out I am going for a run. Currently it seems to wait until 3 minutes into…
  • What a difference 3 weeks made to my heart rate Who knew?
  • Great point @AnnPT77 - how to fuel and lose weight later. Do runners find "their weight" that they can comfortably run at? Great to know you are a survivor, my Mum had many more years after treatment and I want everyone to have a better shot!
  • Thanks @Jeanette_Hills and @snowflake954 I will definitely be taking it slowly in the beginning - not a lot of choice
  • I thought I was the odd one out, good to see someone else tracking their HR @quilteryoyo The difference three weeks makes has been incredible. When I started my first run my resting HR was 73 and peak 159. 25% of my run was in zone 5 and 52% in zone 4 and that had a 5 minute walking start. My most recent run was 45% zone…
