I did the South Beach Diet a few years back and lost lots of weight which I kept off until 2 years ago when I had to take prednisone. I tried it again recently and it isn't working for me this time. Not sure why. Worked great the first time though

Ok I'm really really confused now. My BMR is 1406 and I burn about 500 a day from exercise so should I be eating 1906 to lose weight then bringing my net to match my BMR at 1406? or am I completely confused

Don't worry the 4lbs isn't fat, it's impossible to gain that much weight in that short of time. It's likely water retention. Stick with it and try and kick up your exercise routine a bit that should help. I'm going through the same thing but I notice changes in my body but not the scale. I have that same problem with my step classes. Around the 35 minute mark I start getting exertion headaches and feel like I'm going to barf. There are signs around Goodlife with all the LesMills classes, if you look at the bottom they tell you the average calorie burn, the duration of the class and what type of exercise it is. I know its not definitive but it will give you an idea.
