  • I've hit my initial target now and am down to 241 from 253. Would like to drop below 238 by 19th February, so that's my new goal! Good luck to everyone else!
  • I have ulcerative colitis, diagnosed last year (probably brought on by my twin pregnancy in 2014). Been on and off steroids since I was diagnosed and put on a bunch of weight (and I was fat to start with). I've cut out alcohol and cut back on caffeine and red meat and seem much better now. Also managing to lose weight…
  • I just create my own exercises and enter the calories burned from my HR monitor. So, I do walk/run intervals on the treadmill at different speeds and inclines. I created an exercise called run/walk intervals and I then just put in the time I completed and the calories from my HR monitor. It's there in my list of exercises…
  • Very interesting and well documented - thank you, congrats on your weight loss and good luck with the next 32lbs. I am also losing significantly faster than 2lbs a week at the moment whilst eating 1500-1700 cals a day but have young twin toddlers and spend my life running after them. Like you, I believe my weight loss will…
  • Yay- sort of. I do a cheat meal on a Saturday night. I find it of massive use psychologically and doesn't seem to have any discernible knock-on effect on my weight loss (ie I put on a lb or so on a Sunday and then that and more is gone by Tuesday). At the moment I'm losing more than 2lbs a week easily but have another…
  • I take prednisone and it makes you absolutely ravenous constantly. I took matters into my own hands and started CICO on 4th Jan weighing 264.6. I'm now 21.6lbs down and have been able to lower my medication significantly so in turn the appetite stimulation isn't too bad. 79lbs to go and I've got this!
  • This is a tough one. I have put on a lot of weight since my husband and I met (partly through letting go, partly through laziness, partly through a twin pregnancy and partly through being diagnosed with a chronic illness that has necessitated long term steroid treatment) and have been unhappy since I got north of 195 (I…
  • I'm 5'8 and currently 243. I'm definitely athletic and gain muscle really easily. I look good at anything under 170 and have been as low as 143. I'd say 150 is probably my ideal weight but I'm aiming for 165 at the moment to just creep into the normal BMI range!
  • Finally refound this! Just to check in and say that I've hit 243.2 this morning so well on the way! I'd recommend one of my frequent lunches in the spirit of putting forward healthy suggestions! - sweet chilli hot smoked salmon fillet - Baby plum tomatoes - 30g Feta - Cucumber - As much salad as you want! - Balsamic glaze…
  • My PIL (who I do really like for the record!) did a version of Paleo last year. They both lost some weight in the short term but have started to regain now as they miss bread etc too much. It was annoying as they wouldn't stop banging on about it and how amazing it was. There was a moment when my twins were about 7 months…
  • My blood pressure has gone from high to low normal in a month. I've also been on steroids for a while for a chronic condition and have managed to more than halve my dose in the past 6 weeks. Slowly working on reducing all the way to 0!
  • Generally if you consume fewer calories than you expend you will lose weight. It's up to you what you consume for your calorie goal. I would just point out that alcohol is pretty high calorie and can make you snack badly when your inhibitions start dropping (I speak from experience!). I have found that for myself I do…
  • Yeah, it's hard. I have 19 month old twins and no local gym with a crèche so I guess the choice is made for me. I bought a reasonable treadmill for home use (and my husband has a good weights set) so I get 30-60 minutes done when the kids nap if I'm at home. Otherwise I just walk everywhere and get my exercise in like that!
  • That's a good point actually, I hadn't thought of it like that. Although I'm almost 20lbs down it's only 7% or so of my body weight hence why it's not really that noticeable I think. The last time I lost significant weight I started around 224 and noticed a big difference at around 200 so about 10% body weight loss. It'll…
  • Thanks ladies! I think it is true that the bigger sizes span a larger range (maybe because they're stretchier!). I was a big size 18 (UK) at 264 and I suspect I'm now a small size 18 at 245 hence not really noticing much. My dresses do seem longer so I must have lost some inches as well! Just looking forward to being a…
  • Thanks! Not noticing a thing unfortunately. Clothes seem to be fitting pretty much the same (but then they were all pretty loose to start with!). I don't mind, am happy to keep plugging away but I know plenty of my short(er) friends who drop a dress size every 15lbs or so! I've found in the past that it's about 25lbs for…
  • Feel free to add me. After reaching goal 4 years ago, I got lazy then pregnant with twins and then diagnosed with an illness which meant I've spent the past year on and off steroids (terrible for weight gain). I started out at the same weight I was the day I had my twins in January :s Am already down 19.4lbs though and…
  • I am a SAHM of toddler twins and I'm out and about with them every day when my husband is at work. As I don't drive that means a lot of walking for me all through the week. At the weekend, because my husband is at home and likes to have a chill out away from work, I tend to do less walking (we also tend to go to places…
  • I wouldn't say I was an alcoholic but certainly drinking way more than I should and it definitely was a major contributor to my weight gain. I've gone completely dry for now and eventually would like to be able to have 1-2 drinks once or twice a week. From previous experience though I know that I simply don't lose weight…

  • I started at 264.6 on Jan 4th and yesterday weighed in at 245.2 so a similar loss. I'm not concerned as I know from previous experience that I tend to lose weight quite fast down to about 220 or so and then the real hard work begins! As other pps have said, if you're sure you're eating enough and not going massively under…
  • Depends on you. I prefer weighing in daily as I find it keeps me accountable and I use a trendweight app called Happy Scale which shows me where I am v what the scale says. That helps me not freak out if it goes up for a couple of days! If you are the type of person who would be depressed or put off by a random high…
  • Yep. I basically have one week where I'm not hungry at all, two weeks of average hunger and one week where I'm starving the whole time. I try to just ride it out but if I'm desperately craving something sweet I'll let myself have something small. I also always allow myself a free meal on Saturday nights so that really…
  • I would say that I'm eating around 1400-1600 calories a day (with Saturday being a deliberately higher calorie dinner so I come in around 2000-2200 for the day) and have lost 18.5lbs since the beginning of January. I was 264 now I'm 246. I'm assuming that the rapid weight loss is water weight, cutting out alcohol, a…
  • I have 19 month old twins and am a SAHM full time (they don't go to nursery yet). I basically have to get the majority of my exercise through walking. I usually aim for around 10kms a day and that's been working so far. I do also go swimming on a Friday when I have a babysitter watch them for a couple of hours but it's too…
  • I'm on just over 1600 for a 2lb a week weight loss on lightly active. That's fine for me as I've lost 17lbs and have 83 to go so need plenty of room for manoeuvre for sure. Lightly active is definitely right for me as I have young twins and spend my life running around after them! I then log my exercise calories from…
  • I understand the "all or nothing" issue as well. I have lost weight successfully in the past but failed with maintenance as I just "fall off the wagon" as it were. I'm back losing again now (in fairness, after a twin pregnancy and long steroid use for an autoimmune illness) and just doing it sensibly. My advice would be:-…
  • Looking good! Well done, very inspirational!
  • I'm only 13lbs down but I think the combination of being in a calorie deficit and not drinking alcohol has made me FREEZING!!!
  • Portion sizes and alcohol were the killers for me. I always eat well and don't eat any junk food so justify my eating habits that way. But...if you eat twice what you should, even if healthy, homemade food, and then wash it down with a bottle of wine, what do you expect really? I wouldn't say stress or emotion have a big…
  • I'm in too! Have lost 12lbs so far but weight loss has already stalled. Sigh. Pretty typical for me (one good week followed by one rubbish week despite doing the exact thing both weeks!). I'm currently around 253/254 and would like to get to 240 by 19th Feb but will take 245!
