Can’t lose weight if I drink alcohol
Hi guys I had been losing slowly but steadily since the New Year. Now down just shy of 2 stone with a long way still to go. About 4 weeks ago I started to allow myself to have 2 slimline gin and tonics on a Friday night. Nothing else about my diet changed except that I ensured the 150 odd calories were deducted elsewhere…

Hello again!
Hi guys I’ve lost decent amounts of weight (70lbs or thereabouts) a couple of times before using MFP. 2.5 years ago after having twins and getting back to my pre-pregnancy weight I was ready for the push to lose again when I was diagnosed with an autoimmune disorder and put on prednisolone long term. I’ve put on about 4…

Losing weight whilst on steroids
Hello! I’d love to hear any positive stories about people who lost weight whilst on steroids. I’m not able to stop taking them any time soon (auto immune disease) and put on 3 stone since I started taking them. I am losing but having to eat at 1200 cals to do so (I’m 5’8” and currently 19 stone so that’s very low). Would…

Losing weight whilst on prednisolone?
Has anybody managed this? Last year I went from 250 to 222 before stalling and then getting put on nearly 6 months of steroids (on and off) due to being diagnosed with ulcerative colitis. By the time January 2016 rolled around I was up to 264.6. I'm now down to 10mg of the steroids and hoping to wean off over the next 3/4…

Advice on adding weightlifting back in to exercise routine
Hi all I've dropped nearly 50lbs this year so far but been in a stall for the past 6 weeks or so. I've tried changing up my diet without much success so am thinking of adding in some weightlifting to hopefully ramp up my metabolism/at least get my body shape changing even if the scales aren't. Looking for advice on any…

What would you choose to eat from this menu?
My first dinner out in well over a year! I've logged up an extra 1000cals of exercise today in preparation and kept intake to a minimum so far. Happy to have seafood and avoid pizza but may want starter and a main?!

45lbs down, 55lbs to go- losing motivation, need friends to keep me going!
Looking for MFP friends to keep me going through my current rough patch! I have 55lbs still to go and am a full time mum to twin toddlers. Please add me if you fancy helping to keep me going - more than happy to return the favour!

How to get through the hungry hour?
Hello! I am having real problems with snacking around 4/5pm. It's basically when I make my kids' tea and after we get back from a day of usually heavy exercise. I like to have a bigger meal at night so my calories will already be allocated and I won't have much (if anything) left over for snacks at this time. I can't…

Exercise vs weight loss issues
Hi guys I've asked a similar question before but still remain confused. I have been losing an average of 2lbs a week, which is what I'm set to and I'm happy with that. However, I have over the past 3/4 weeks upped my exercise quite a lot. I have young twins and because of the good weather I have been out hiking with them…

% of exercise calories to eat back with large calorie burns?
Hi guys I am currently in training to walk a marathon in July. As a result I frequently hike between 3 and 6 hours a day (on uneven terrain with hills etc) carrying 70lbs of weight (my twin toddlers). My Garmin HR monitor records my active calories burnt as anywhere from 1200-3000+ for these days. On 'normal' days with a…

SAHM mum with twin toddlers - fitness help please!
Hi everyone! I have 19 month old twins who take A LOT of looking after (they have a general kamikaze attitude to life!). I don't drive and no gyms in my area have a crèche so that's out. My husband works long hours and by the time he's come home I'm absolutely too knackered to go out and exercise then and know it's not…

Weight loss slows substantially just before every stone marker...
Anyone else find this? For example: 18.12 - 18.4 (8lbs): 6 days 18.4 - 17.13 (5lbs): 10 days 17.13 - 17.4 (9lbs): 17 days 17.4 - 16.13 (5lbs): 18 days 16.13 - 16.4 (9lbs): 27 days 16.4 - 16.3 (where I'm at today: 7 days so far I don't understand why this happens although it feels like it's psychological - except my body…

DOMS and weight loss?
Hi everybody! Quick question- I do a lot of hiking with my toddlers on me (one or both) and often find that despite pretty high calorie burns (I have a HRM so they're reasonably accurate), and eating back only a small portion of my exercise calories, my weight loss is often slower on those days than on days when I do a lot…

What could I aim for in the future?
Currently: 5'8" 233lbs F, age 34 Walking c.50-60 miles a week (carrying 0-50lbs) Swim once per week - 2.5kms in c.55 minutes (would love to do more but can't afford more babysitting) Do run/walk intervals (45-60 minutes) usually twice a week. Can run a slow 5K without stopping (37/38 minutes). Have a reasonable home…

How can I copy and paste the flowchart onto my homepage?
I have an MFP friend who's struggling at the moment and I think the flowchart might help her. I've directed her to the forums but wondered if I could paste it onto my homepage for her?

Anyone else doing the Dart 10k swim this September?
Or any other long distance swim? My training will mostly be pool based and I haven't yet worked out how I'm going to be able to train given that I'm a SAHM to twin toddlers and my local leisure centre doesn't have a crèche...

Calorie burn for walking carrying 25lbs?
Hi! I have 20 month old twins and sometimes walk for a fair distance (5-8kms) carrying one of them in a carrier. This must burn more calories than walking on its own but for the life of me I can't find anywhere that gives an accurate burn for walking on flat ground (some hills but I don't mind discounting those) carrying a…

Dieting with a heavy cold
I've had a really unpleasant cold and cough for over a week now and have basically been out of action since the weekend. I haven't been able to sleep much for the past four nights and am totally exhausted. I've managed to keep under my calories but it's been a struggle as I'm used to doing a lot of exercise so don't…

Do you set yourself time limits for mini goals?
As above really. I've lost 23lbs with another 77 to go so I need to keep motivated and having had a cough/cold for about three weeks now, it can be hard on the odd day. My weight loss is going fine but I wondered about setting time limits for my mini goals (next one is 237.9 and I'm currently 241.2)- do you guys do that?…

Tall girls (5'8" plus) when did you start to see a difference with your weight loss?
Would love some perspective! I'm 5'8", started at 264, now at 245 but can't see any noticeable difference yet. Wondering when anyone with similar stats did?

Help! Need to keep going with new injury...
So I have today sprained my ankle for the second time in 6 weeks. Was sent for an X Ray and it turns out I had a small fracture last time I sprained it (which I didn't know about) but not this time. I enjoy exercise and have been regularly walking/jogging 10km a day to help with my weight loss. I'm a bit concerned that I'm…

First mini success- BP stats!
Only lost 12lbs so far but since starting in January (after a year of significant health problems) my BP has dropped from 140/92 to 120/68 in two weeks. Woo hoo! More exercise, less red meat and no alcohol I think! Anyone else had a BP success?

Satisfyingly large meals for 700 calories?!
Hi guys I will freely confess that portion control is definitely my issue (rather than eating junk). It is always what I struggle with and now (after a twin pregnancy) I'm staring down the barrel of a 90lb loss (I've lost 10 already). Because of my the way my day works out (caring for my kids) my main meal has to be my…

Really feel like giving up
It feels like either I can eat 1500 calories minus exercise calories (so 800-1100 net) and lose 2lbs per week or I eat anything else I want and weigh 224lbs for the rest of my life. I'm lacking motivation having had a bad weekend and for one day of no exercise and two larger than normal meals I've put on 4lbs. It took me…

I ran for 60 minutes today...
and it wasn't too bad! I hadn't run for about 18 months when I started again about 6 weeks ago. Clearly looking after twins 24/7 keeps you fitter than I thought! Now just hoping the scales FINALLY dip below 224 soon (225.4 at the moment!). Anyone else got any fitness successes to share?

Feeling depressed after weight loss
SW - 250 CW - 225.8 GW - 165ish I have 8 month old twins and weighed in at a whopping 264 the day they were born. When they hit 6 months I decided to do something about my weight and was shocked by 250. Pre-pregnancy I was 220 so 30lbs to lose until I even get there. I guess I feel like I haven't even started my weight…

Staying on track whilst abroad for 5 weeks
I won't have internet access and limited ability to exercise (the terrain is far too rough to run- rocks underfoot) and I'll be looking after my kids 24/7 so although I hope to get a few swims and walks in it won't be as straightforward as it is now as I run 4 times a week at the moment. At the moment I'm ticking along…

My 5k victories!
As someone who used to run 25 minute 5ks you'd think I'd be dismissive of my slow slow times but despite weighing in at 226.6 now (was 250 at the beginning of January) I've discovered I can actually still run. Today I reached my first goal of under 35 minutes and ran it in 34:44. Next goal under 34 minutes!

Anyone else weigh heavy?
I've always weighed really heavy in comparison to how I look. Some examples: - 154 at a size 8 (uk) - 175 at a size 12 (uk) - 225 at a size 16 (UK) - 250 at a size 18 (uk) I have always done a lot of exercise (both cardio and weights) and am 5'8" but everyone else I know at whatever size I am at that point seems to weigh…

What's your body fat percentage?
I'm interested in people's height/weight and relative body fat stats. The scale has been refusing to shift for ten days or so but my BF % has dropped down from 24.5% about a month ago to 22.7% a few days ago. Even at my biggest though my BF% was only around 33% and various friends tell me that they have BF percentages in…
