Feeling depressed after weight loss

I have 8 month old twins and weighed in at a whopping 264 the day they were born. When they hit 6 months I decided to do something about my weight and was shocked by 250. Pre-pregnancy I was 220 so 30lbs to lose until I even get there. I guess I feel like I haven't even started my weight loss journey even though I'm nearly 25lbs down. Anyone else feel like this?

I felt like this for a very long time. I started at 220 lbs and I am currently 177-ish. Some days, I feel no better at this weight than I did at 220. Turns out, I have depression. I was diagnosed and I am currently working with a therapist to address it as well as going on some mood-stabilizing medicines. You might see if you can begin therapy to see if you have a similar problem.
In the meantime, start taking pictures every few weeks and take measurements to see how much progress you've made! If you have any photos of yourself at 250, compare those to photos of you currently. That has always helped me feel a little better.
Best of luck!0 -
It can be discouraging if all you're focused on is that end number. What are some other things you hope to accomplish? Do you want to be more fit so you can keep up with those little ones? You could set some fitness goals. You could also focus on smaller weight loss milestones and celebrate each little victory! Or if you're trying to incorporate more vegetables or some other healthy eating goal. Lots of little things you can conquer along the way.0

I like to remind myself that the time between now and whenever I hit my goal is going to pass by no matter what I'm doing. So even if it takes me two years to get there, I can imagine myself two years from now, say on New Year's Eve, either feeling down and alone and making yet another resolution to lose weight OR checking myself out in my hot dress and making completely new resolutions about what to do with my fit, healthy self. If two years isn't motivating for you, what about 6 months? What if you were the same weight? What if you had lost another 25 pounds?0
