  • In case you're not interested in calling the number above, I thought I would offer another that might help. 1-877-838-2838(1-877-vet2vet). It's a crisis hotline that allows you to speak to other veterans. If you need someone to talk to, please feel free to add me.
  • Today I did 60 consecutive minutes of high intensity exercise for the first time in my life. When I started last fall I could only walk for five minutes at a time, and even that little bit of exercise was enough to make me feel like I was going to pass out. Back then it never crossed my mind that I would be so excited over…
  • This is one of my favorite recipes. It's so good that I've made it way too many times to count. There are a couple other recipes included in the link, but the pork is excellent by itself. http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/amy-thielen/peppered-pork-and-parmesan-flatbread-sandwiches.html
  • This will probably sound completely stupid, but I don't know what I want. I'm not even sure what the difference between mass and strength is. Honestly, I kind of thought one lead to the other. Endurance seems pretty self explanatory at least. The reason I want to do this is because I have a significant amount of weight to…
  • I have both. I've heard of New Rules of Lifting several times so I went ahead and ordered that on amazon. I also found a strong lifts website and will go through it later when I can spend more time on it. Thanks for the suggestions.
  • Thanks for the replies! I hadn't thought of filming myself, but I definitely will. I'm already dreading watching it because I'm sure it will be cringe inducing, but it will be worth it to do this right.
  • Thanks! Problems being caused by lifting heavier than you should makes sense. For now I will be using free weights because I don't have access to machines. That's one of the things that worries me. I could be wrong, but it seems like it would be easier to do more damage or cause more injuries with free weights. I've found…
  • Weight lost: 56 pounds Method: flexible eating/portion control I eat basically everything I did before, just less of most things. I do try to get more vegetables and fruit now, so my diet has gradually changed without any specifics attempts to cut other foods out of it. I'm also constantly trying to get enough protein…
  • You could do a brine instead, and it should be just as good as any marinade. Just use salt, several lemons, and whatever herbs or spices you want. I could give you a recipe, but if you google lemon chicken brine you'll find all kinds of recipes and instructions on how to do it.
  • Could you just give them really unusual/unique names that other people wouldn't use so that she can search for them? I agree it would be so much easier if we could share recipes, but that might work in the meantime.
  • I was the same way and absolutely refused to give up my coffee. I also thought all of the low fat, artificial sweetener substitutes tasted terrible, so those weren't an option either. What I did instead was to taper down the amount I used in small enough increments that I wouldn't notice. I started with 6 tbsp per cup…
  • The original photo and recipe are from a blog called Cooking Classy. I'm posting the link but have no idea if it will work since I haven't posted links here yet. Hopefully this helps! http://www.cookingclassy.com/2012/10/olive-garden-pasta-e-fagioli-soup-copycat-recipe/
  • I'm looking for new friends too because unfortunately most of mine are inactive now. I've been using MFP for four months and log daily. Anyone looking for a new friend feel free to add me.
  • The calories in fast food grilled chicken sandwiches. I don't eat fast food often, but when I do I usually choose grilled chicken because I thought it was the lower calorie option. I've done this at several places and found that the chicken has more calories than a small hamburger. The first time I noticed it was at…
  • I have the same problem every month. I drove myself crazy at first but since have tried to accept that it's just the way it's going to happen for me. I usually have two to three consecutive weeks every month without losing anything then I lose everything for the month in about a week. I don't change anything, eat the same…
  • Sometimes I tell myself I'll only do it for five or ten minutes. I know that once I get started I won't stop at that point since getting going is the hardest part for me. It probably sounds silly and wouldn't work for a lot people, but it definitely helps me with motivation.
  • The snacks I eat most often are laughing cow cheese with either a few triscuits or vegetables to dip in them, light string cheese, Boom Chicka Pop popcorn, pistachios in the shell because they take longer to eat, Babybel cheese, beef jerky, pickles, and boiled eggs.
  • @JazzFischer1989 If it makes you feel any better, you're not the only one  I do the same thing.
  • Have you tried chicken thighs instead? I get tired of b/s breasts pretty quickly, but b/s thighs have much more flavor for just a few more calories. To answer the original question, I do fajitas a lot with chicken breasts. They have a lot of flavor depending on the marinade you use and end up being a fairly low cal meal…
  • Hi, I'm always happy to make new friends so anyone can feel free to add me. I have well over 100 pounds to lose, 45 down already :) I log in daily and would love to have more friends who want to support and motivate each other.
  • In addition to all of the great suggestions above, I also freeze a lot of ingredients that take quite a bit of time to prepare. I do a lot of stocks, caramelized onions, mirepoix, roasted vegetables, sauces, etc. It saves a lot of time when I make big batches then add them to meals later, and I don't think it affects the…
  • One of my favorite steak sides, in addition to the usual baked potato of course, is a tomato salad. It's really quick and easy and so good this time of year with tomatoes being in season. I just do large chunks of tomatoes, with thinly sliced red onions, a quick balsamic vinaigrette and let them marinate while everything…

  • Sent you a friend request. I completely understand needing the accountability and will try to help if I can!
  • Hi Lizzie! First, I wanted to say I'm sorry that you're having a tough time. I also wanted to congratulate you on your loss so far! You've obviously worked really hard to get to this point, so maybe it's time reward yourself with something to celebrate your accomplishments so far. That might help to give you a mental boost…
  • Hi everyone! I'm still fairly new to MFP, 30+ days, and would love to meet new people. I'm in my thirties, female, and have a lot of weight to lose, so I plan on being here for awhile. I already feel like I'm on MFP so much that it has replaced other social network sites, so it's time to actually make some friends on this…
  • I can't add much because you've already gotten some great responses, especially the ones about making small changes. I just wanted to add one more voice of encouragement. You can do this! Please don't give up. I understand feeling so completely overwhelmed because I've been there. That's why making small changes really…
