My two cents is to try whatever it is you want to try when you go out to eat. I figure the chef/cook at the restaurant will probably prepare it in good way. Then if I like it, I will make it at home. For example, based on my childhood, beets were to be avoided at all costs. Fast forward a few years: I ordered a beet salad…

Wow! Terrific job. You look like a different person--so happy and fit! Reading your story inspires me because I really don't have any excuses compared to what you've gone through. Thank you for sharing!

Do not go buy bigger clothes! Wear the same pants and or shirt every day until they don't feel snug. That is what I did (only had to do it once). Kind of embarrassing to be a 50 year old woman with the same outfit every day but it motivated me to get it together and lose the couple of pounds I had gained. I am a school…

RoxieDawn--would you mind sharing your recipe for the energy bars? I tried to send you a message but there is something wrong with the server. Thank you! They sound delicious.

I think this tastes like an actual chocolate shake: In a blender put a handful of ice, a handful of spinach, two tsp of cookies and cream protein powder, two tsp of mocha cappucino mix, blend, enjoy. YUM!

Looking good! Hopefully you feel better too. You have done the hardest part--you started! Congratulations : ) You got this.

It's a touchy subject. When I lost 40 pounds, lots of people noticed and told me I looked great. It was nice they noticed but it made me uncomfortable because (like someone else said) no one said anything when I GAINED all of the weight--that I would have appreciated! I thought I looked ok but looking back at the photos I…

I'm 5'8" and weigh 145 pounds. Goal is to be 135 pounds in two months for my 50th birthday. Meant to get "serious" earlier but that didn't happen. So, I am going all in for the next two months. I got this and so do you!

Did you enjoy them? Did you log them? Did you rearrange your daily calorie intake to accommodate them? Point is you ate them and realize that another choice may have been better. Before today could you say that? All I know is that now that I am on MFP I make many better choices about what I eat. Do your best--don't have to…

Way to go! You've done the hardest part--starting! I am bouncing around tonight looking for motivation and you helped! Thank you for reminding me why MFP exists.

You go girl! Great job.

I'm 49 years old (not sure how that happened!), am 5'8" and am currently weigh144 lbs. My goal is 135 because that is what I wanted to weigh in college but couldn't get there. Lowest recently was 138 but I kind of freaked out and started eating what I wanted because hey--I weigh 138 pounds. Surprise--the weight came back.…

I'm in. Not sure I'll post pictures but we'll see. I have 10 pounds to go--but 15 would be even better. The last ones are challenging in their own way! Let's go!

I wish I did. All I can say is that I am right there with you. However, the good news is we are both on myfitnesspal so we are not lying on the side of the road in a ditch kind of off track--we just made an unexpected stop. I got on the scale this morning expecting to see a big number and it was the same as last week.…

Thank you for sharing your story and your story. Keep going--you can do it!

Your hard work has resulted in a noticeable difference. Keep going--you got this!

Ditto what feisty_bucket said. You are not alone. I know you feel ashamed but this is the place to be for support. We are all struggling! Every day we get the opportunity to do our best--no matter what happened the day before. I have not run for a month because I have two black toenails that I am afraid of losing. My big…

You have my permission to be selfish about your heath! My husband keeps asking "Are you done losing weight yet? You don't need to lose any more." This is not helpful. I have 9 pounds left before reaching my goal weight and they are the hardest ones. The first 41 were easy! I keep telling him that, but he keeps asking. I…

When I am thinking about what to eat--like "gee, a so and so would be really good right now" I log it in and see how that affects my calories for the day. If it puts me over, I delete it and choose something else. That little break of being on the computer helps me re-focus. The struggle is real and the struggle is…

I like that answer and I might even use it myself : ) I saw a t-shirt the other day that I liked. It said "Excuses don't burn calories."

Looking good! Nice tan!

Did you go in? You're already there so just go. Why not? My favorite recent quote is "A year from now, what will I wish I had done today"? And if you're like me, you will have wished you had gone in an exercised. I am a teacher looking for inspirational quotes to hang in my classroom and that one just jumped out!. Also,…

I am in the same boat. Are you a teacher? I signed up for a half marathon in October to make sure I keep running. Am thinking about joining the YMCA for a few months over the winter to keep myself going. Don't know if the treadmill and work out videos are going to keep me going Nov-April. It takes a lot of mental pep talk…

I second Asics for running shoes. I have "runner's knee" according my doctor. I do knee strengthening exercises, have two pairs of shoes and run every other day. Now able to train for a half marathon since getting the right shoes. I also take an extra rest day if needed if my knee hurts at all--but since I've been doing…

Go pick up three 10# bags of sugar at the store and see if you think 30# is no big deal. It is. Way to go!
-
Tried on a "medium" shirt today and it was too big! Had to get the "small." There was a time when I spent a lot of money at Lane Bryant because I couldn't find clothes at "regular" stores.

Logging onto MFP motivates me. Seeing in black and white what I was eating has really made me be conscious of what I put into my one and only body! I thought I was eating a healthy and balanced diet but it was not so---way too many carbs and not enough protein. It also motivates me to look at the graphs to see how active I…

You look terrific. Congratulations on your weight loss. I do not see any hips. I think it is leftover thinking from when you were heavier. How about going to a store and trying on pants/clothes in your new size? Ask a sales person to help you pick a cut/style if you want objective advice. Even if you don't buy them, at…

I've already chimed in but I thought of something else. Can you walk at lunch time? Can you take breaks at work? There are plenty of "office mini workouts" on YouTube. Exercise can be in short burts. How about changing into workout clothes before you drive home so that you remind yourself that you will be exercising later?…

Well, what worked for me to take time for myself was reading this quote "Find time to be healthy or find time to be sick." Your kids will be fine without out you sometimes. Did your parents spend every waking moment with you? Mine didn't and they were great parents. Now, as an adult, I am a productive member of society.…
