Add some sweetener, maybe some cinnamon, nutmeg, etc and it'll taste better. Mine tasted like a bran muffin. I threw in a few chocolate chips too.

Dont automatically trust the numbers. They are entered by members and are often incorrect. It is good idea to look for confirmed numbers. If you eat the same few things on a regular basis it is easy enough to confirm the data is correct by going to a site such as nutritiondata.self.com. Get a gram scale and you'll probably…

Going to the gym gets me in workout mode. Ironically I go in there and do more bodyweight exercises than anything else. "Primal Blueprint fitness" is a free ebook that has a great simple program in it comprised of bodyweight exercises and Sprints. Here's a brief summary of the program, but the ebook is worth getting.…

If you run and lift you need to eat more- or you'll crash. There is a difference in weight loss and fat loss. Your body will make choices with the limited resources you provide it, based in a large part on the activities you participate in. Excessive aerobic cardio on too few calories will likely contribute to a higher…

The first is that I find it is very hard to exercise your way out of a bad diet. Weight has more to do with what you put in your mouth than what you're working off at the gym. With that in mind, cut the sodas at least temporarily and try not to drink any calories. Calorie counting is very educational, and MFP makes it…

Some variation of what you are planning will work. I tend to eat 500-800 below maintenance 1-2 days a week, often Monday and Thursday. Doing it just one day at a time is easy and it makes up for any misbehaving on weekends. Just two days of low cal a week tends to keep my weight fairly steady.

You don't have to do that much to maintain a level of fitness. Your body in a large part should be your guide to how much you need. I would definitely drop the rest day "light cardio" unless it's something you really want to do. I would bet you could drop the other cardio if you don't enjoy it as long as you stick with…

BigMIke, I too would recommend a higher protein diet, especially if there is going to be a large caloric deficit. I once was much larger (300lbs plus)and went on caloric restriction. I'm a carb junky by nature. when I restricted my calories I neglected following protein counts. As a result I ate too little protein, (and…

I'd perform MUCH less cardio, more resistance training, throw in some HIIT, and make protein a larger percentage of my caloric allotment. Would probably also eat a lower carb, higher fat diet.

Some quest are very good but a bit expensive. I use them as occasional meal replacements. For cheap between meals bars, I use either pure protein or detour lower sugar. You can buy a box of them at the wholesale clubs for less than $1 each.

Congrats on your loss. I have the same problem- some fat but also loose skin. My weight is not dropping but I believe my composition has improved over the past year. I would suggest try backing off the cardio a bit and doing some heavier lifting- look at starting strength or stronglifts 5x5 as a starting guideline. You…

If you don't mind eating Splenda a lot of the no sugar added ice creams are really good now.

Magerum is right. Although 300 extra calories from fruit or vegetables may be better for you, it's still a surplus and will slow your progress or stall it all together if you eat enough.

I see a definite difference. Congrats!

I've lost around 100 pounds. My breasts are definitely much smaller and perkier, not sure of cup size though........ :)

Technically, you're obese if your BMI exceeds 30. By the chart, you're actually borderline "extremely obese". But due to difference in frame size, etc. you need to get a bodyfat analysis to arrive at a proper weight for your frame size, which BMI does not account for. At 6'1" height, you are indeed likely overweight by…

Bulletproof coffee is all the rage right now with low carb followers and the original version calls for 2TBS of coconut or MCT oil and 2TBS of grass fed butter. The coconut oil was no problem, but I wasn't so sure about the butter. I reluctantly tried a "lite" version of bulletproof coffee with one TBS each and found it…

100 pounds off for 21 months now. I step on the scale nearly every morning. Any upward trends are dealt with before they get out of hand. I have been experimenting with loosening up a bit on eating and not tracking, but it does cause a uptrend. I'm also finding that perhaps one "diet day" a week helps keep my weight under…

OP, I'm in the camp that it works because it puts you in a caloric deficit. Look at the ingredient list and nutrition label of the herbalife product. Soy protein, fructose, and artificial flavors are among the LONG list of stuff they put in there.. I don't see anything remarkable about that product. Compare it with optimum…

As mentioned natural food is best. but drinks are convenient. I'm assuming you want more protein per calorie instead of some of the higher calorie recovery/meal replacement type drinks. Optimum Nutrition Gold standard Whey is very popular and tastes pretty good. They also have a natural version that has minimal…

I bought a Magic Bullet as Costco. I use it about twice a day and have had it for a year. I've just about broken all the little aformentioned ears on the cups- I think I'm down to only two that work. I grind my coffee in it, I mix my protein drinks with ice. I make low cal "slushies: using ice water and crystal lite or…

First let me say that I hate you. :) I know the grass is always greener on the other side, but I wish I got to eat until satisfaction without gaining. Anyway: As mentioned-Lift heavy. Concentrate on the major lifts. Squats, deadlifts, bench presses, rows, and shoulder press. Do minimal cardio (You can do some HIIT instead…

I love em but it's just not worth the calories IMO when I'm trying to lose. I need "bulkier" foods to stave off my hunger. Otherwise, I eat too many calories.

If you're have an active lifestyle (biking to your jobs included) your sodium intake at this level shouldn't be a problem. Sugar is not a problem for most people when taken in reasonable amounts. Stay away from soda. Avoid too much fruit juice, sports drinks and treats and you'll most likely be fine. But don't be scared to…

If you're going to eat the same amount I'd consider upping protein and reducing the cardio somewhat. Do enough cardio to derive the health benefits. Walk for fat loss if you feel it is necessary. If you want to keep the current pace eat more and see how your body responds.

I prefer to chew my calories. True recovery shakes have more carbs than protein. A regular whey powder such as optimum nutritions gold standard is pretty popular for post workout and is about .75/servingif bought cheaply, but to help with exceicise recovery the addition of something to the meal like a banana would be…

Big first steps right there. If you log honestly you'll see where the excess calories come from and will find ways to trim them down. Most people would lose weight if they walked, didn't drink their calories, and cut the majority of bread out of their diet.

The only thing I would recommend is try changing hand positions to a hammer grip and see if it improves.

I eat fiber one cereal almost daily- the one that looks like rabbit food. 1 cup=120 calories=28 gs of fiber. Best bang for the fiber buck.

If his family has that much influence your relationship you'll likely never be truly happy. Time to move on.
