  • Thanks for the inspiration from another shortie! I've found I've had more loss at times when I've kept my carbs under 100, but the problem is that it shoots my protein up a little too high, and I only have one kidney. :( Trying to find the right balance!
  • I'm 39 this weekend, but most people think I'm in my late 20s or early 30s. My face has aged very well. :) Too bad I can't say that for the rest of my body! Feel free to add me for support! It's definitely different trying to lose weight as your hormones are starting to whack out and you've got a busy family/career/life.
  • Count me in! This is a tough one for me...
  • Hmmm, are these goals for 2013? 1. Get to at least 150, if not further (which is about 25lbs). 2. Run a 10K trail race. 3. Learn to set better limits for my children. 4. Finish a book proposal. 5. Squat and deadlift bodyweight x1.5 6. Be more confident. 7. Be more on the ball with paperwork. 8. Admit when I'm wrong. 9.…
  • I just want to say for the record, some of your "befores" I would kill for as my AFTER!
  • I have the same problem, and it's why I barely worked out for the past couple of months. It's tough. I'm back in it now, and what's helping is reminding myself that I don't have to kill myself for two hours every day. Just 10 minutes here and there of heart-pumping stuff adds up over the course of the day, especially if…
  • I'm 5'1.5" and I hear you on the pregnancy redistribution! I'm back to my ppw now, but that's still too heavy! My problem is that I had twins, so I have a apron of "twin skin" that I think will need surgery to look decent again. Boo!
  • Why were you nervous about posting these? I think you look pretty damn good right now!
  • I am just starting too! Feel free to friend me for accountability and support!
  • Congratulations on your progress so far! You look totally pumped and ready to kick some butt.
  • I'm so impressed by you ladies who have already lost so much! You're totally motivating me to work harder so my ticker catches up! :)
  • You've worked hard and I've seen the changes in you! Don't worry about slipping and sliding over a few months. Your progress is still inspirational to me!
  • I've seen some really inspirational pictures here on MFP of moms with flat bellies, but I don't have such high expectations. Even at my thinnest my belly was never flat (always had a little pooch under my belly button), and now after having twins the "shelf/apron/whatever you want to call it" over my c-section scar is…
  • I'll settle for 10, because it would put me firmly back in the 160s and I never plan to see the 170s again after floating around in it for the past YEAR. GW of 160 in the 10 weeks would be amazing, and very motivating!
  • My goals in 2013 are to: Get to goal (which in theory is doable, but I'd settle for 140 by my 40th birthday in January 2014) Do a 10K trail race next summer (like the one I tried to train for last summer) Most importantly... Stop self-sabotaging because I feel guilty and shameful for having a good life!
  • Jessica, I lost 20lbs "twice" last year, which in some ways is great, and other ways demoralizing since I regained it in the first place. ARGH. But you can do it! Every step counts. I lived in Paris in 2004 and it was wonderful. It took me a while to get used to the 2hr lunch breaks, though! I always used to work through…
  • Guess it's my turn, now that I've finally had the time to sit down and read through the whole thread so far! You can call me Fey. I'm going to be 39 in January, and have 2yr old twin boys who definitely keep me on my toes. I'm very very lucky to have help with them, though, so I'm not going buggo crazy and I have time to…
  • Shelly, I'll twin you! Our ages and heights are off, but our activities/food and goals are close. I want to be more consistent with eating healthy as well, and I love weights.
  • I'm pretty close to you, Nareena!
  • Great idea! Age: 38 (39 in January) Daily calorie goal: bumping up to 1550 in January CW: 172 GW: 160 (for the 10 weeks) Preferred workouts: I love heavy lifting the most, but will be switching things up in the New Year. Starting a kickboxing class, ChaLean Extreme, then adding in elliptical, swimming, and IT on ergometer…
  • ^^^^ this! I needed to hear that myself!
  • Thanks for all the inspiration, ladies! I love to see all these before/during/afters to remind me that success is possible!
  • I see what you're saying. I want to confuse my muscles a little bit, but not totally bewilder them! :) The truth is, I just love the feeling of heavy lifting and I hate giving it up while doing CLX. My cardio during the week (at least starting in January) will be kickboxing, elliptical, and swimming, so I'm hoping that…
  • Hi Jennifer! Twinmom430 is an awesome friend to have, just so everyone knows! I'm also a mother of twins. I've gotten to my pre-pregnancy weight twice in the last year (yay me in theory, but I was stupid enough to have to lose it twice because of an injury-induced regain!), and there I sit. Unfortunately, that's still…
  • I'm in! This is what I need to get my mojo back! I lost my first 20lbs (back to pre-pregnancy weight) in Aug-Nov 2011, then regained it all after a torn meniscus derailed me. Now I've lost it again (yay), but my motivation is stalling and I'm getting lazy and eating too much junk. My goal for 2013 is to lose approximately…
  • I'm in! I need my *kitten* kicked in 2013! But will this be a mega huge group? That gets overwhelming when I don't know anybody on it...
  • I have two year old twins, and carrying them both up and down the stairs is a pretty good workout (around 60lbs). I'll also hold one and do jump squats, which they LOVE. I'll also do planks with them on my back and a kind of reverse crunch with them lying on my lower legs.
  • If we're talking "nails on a chalkboard" type shudders, then my biggest one is wet shoelaces (especially trying to TIE them). Cracking knuckles. And for a very long time (now subsiding), patterned sheets. Yes, I'm serious. If we're talking full blown phobias, then the only one is tent caterpillars. I literally would not…
  • One thing I do for my calves that really helps is to stand balanced on an upside-down BOSU, then go up on my toes (like a releve in ballet) and STAY BALANCED for as long as possible. Repeat until you just can't do any more. It works my calves, but also my whole core and can be really challenging for my CNS!
