  • Oh my gosh - UNBELIEVABLE!! You are such a fabulous inspiration. You look twenty years younger. Fabulous!!
  • I agree with @Adam2k10 completely - it's a 100% worth it. Feel free to friend me here on MPF for additional support. You can do this.
  • That must be very frustrating - I'm sorry to hear that you don't feel supported by your husband. I hope you can dig deep and be strong and seek the support you need elsewhere.
  • Oh yes that's all the best stuff! We are so lucky to have the world's food at our fingertips.
  • Super basic for me tonight: pita pizza with feta, jalapeños and pineapple, and a big green salad with olive oil, balsamic vinegar, parmesan cheese and croutons. I love croutons.
  • Around 30lbs. I have 20 pounds to go to get to a normal BMI. That is going to be amazing for me. I'm 38 and I've probably spent a total of six months at a normal BMI in the past 11 years. This time I'm staying there! Then another 10 maybe, depending how I look and feel.
  • At first my motivation came from reminding myself of all the many reasons I was so unhappy at the weight I was at. I hated seeing pictures of myself, was embarrassed at the thought of seeing old friends, and was letting my weight hold me back from being successful in other parts of my life. There were also family members…
  • Yes 100%. Also my roasted skinless chicken breasts in the fridge are mine alone. I'll have three meals worth cooked and planned out, and my husband considers it a snack.
  • It could be a mix of water/pregnancy weight and genuine weight loss. Even if you are not exercising, babies take up lots of energy! How is your energy level? If you are feeling great and losing, I say you are most likely doing fine. Keep taking good care of yourself, momma!
  • I love it in a salad too, but if I'm eating it hot it's usually broiled with a big side of steamed vegetables. I sprinkle the salmon with brown sugar, then dot it with butter and sriracha - it's a bit sweet and hot, so good. Cajun seasoning is also great. Or with a nice mixed herb salad over top.
  • I eat 1200 to 1300 cals most days and I do find it takes quite a bit of care to stay in that range. One big meal or high calorie snack can derail the whole day. I'm not saying 1200 is right for you, I don't know your stats/needs/lifestyle and I'm not an expert, but here's some things I do to keep around 1200: I focus on…
  • Fats are never a problem for me: olive oil, sockeye salmon (lox or gravlax), cheese, peanut butter, nuts, eggs, butter, yogurt.

  • I skip breakfast at for at least half the week. Often a cup of coffee does it for me. Sometimes I wake up hungry, sometimes I don't. OP you are right though, it sure does save room for more calories later in the day
  • Loads of condiments - LOADS (many pickles, half fat mayo, ketchup, maple syrup, pomegranate molasses and a million Mexican and Asian sauces) Also I like to keep stocked at all times: Green leaf lettuce (preferably some pre washed in spinner and ready for my salad) Broccoli Bell peppers Citrus fruits Fresh herbs Grapes…
  • For me here's what works best - lots of these are repeats of tips already shared above. - digital scale to weigh and accurately log everything - pre-logging most of my meals - being super on track 80/90% of the time and flexible 10/20% - living my life! - don't rely on estimating calories based on other people's database…
  • Woohoo!! Yes I love Superbowl. I know nothing about football but I love the tradition of making awesome Superbowl food and having people over to cheer. I'll loosely log my calories for that day (or not) and I'll definitely go over. No biggie. I'm being extra careful this week and I know one day isn't going to make a big…
  • Hi! Are you weighing your food with a digital scale? You might want to make your diary public if you want feedback. I agree with the above posters too - water weight is a possibility, plus you are not going to see a loss every week. Sad but true!
  • I think moderation and loving food is a great way to start! Have you set a calorie goal yet? For me the best way to sustain my motivation and keep going is to set realistic calorie goals and not to focus too much on macronutrients, but generally target towards what MFP set for me. Otherwise I just eat what I enjoy and add…
  • OP, I can only speak from my own experience. I've lost 18lbs and am working on another 20/25 by eating 1200-1300 most days, and eating back my exercise calories when I do (very seldom, to be honest) work out. It works for me and I don't feel weak or that I am losing muscle. Best of luck to you!
  • Snacking while cooking is tricky for me too. What used to work (but I've gotten out of the habit) is putting out a raw veg plate. It satisfies my snack urge, ensures I'm getting some vegetables in, and gets some raw veg into my three year old - not always easy. This thread is a great reminder - I think I'll do that again!
  • In my first month or two of losing, I struggled the most with patience. You are actually doing really great but you will probably find it so much easier if you let go of the impatience and anxiety and embrace the long game of learning great habits and settling into the change of lifestyle. 8lbs so far is AWESOME and you…
  • Sorry - my last post was with my phone and it got cut off. I also wrote something like this: Good for you for coming here instead, since it sounds like you don't think the burger is a good idea right now. After all, your not hungry and you did have something else planned. I'll bet if you go ahead with the lunch you…
  • Wow lots of folks really want you to eat that burger
  • I think you should do whatever is best for you! It sounds like you are super motivated and committed, either way. One of the bonuses of weighing yourself right at the beginning is that you might get to see that nice loss so many of us see in the first week. Personally, I like to know exactly what I weigh so I can be sure…
  • I usually skip the weigh-in during my cycle. I'd rather have a blank week than see a higher number on the scale. Just a personal preference. Also, there will be ups and downs on the scale regardless, at all different times in your cycle. It's hard to see but it's a part of weight loss!
  • There's lots of good ideas here OP! Looks like you've got a fun solution with the homemade pizza too  I too love pizza and know I would most likely end up eating too many cals if I ordered in regularly. I do the pita pizza thing for lunch several times a week. I work from home and it makes an easy and satisfying…

  • Keep it up you can totally do it! I started at 183 last August and was super vigilant about my calories and lost 18lbs (ten percent of my body weight was my first goal) in two and a half months. I took a hiatus from weight loss and stayed at maintenance (except for four pounds of Christmas weight) for another two and a…
  • How long have you been counting calories for (assuming that is what you're doing)? I remember I was having a lot of trouble sleeping during my first month or so eating at a deficit. One thing that did help was that I started saving a few hundred calories for a before bed snack. Melatonin is great too, as is having an early…
