Anyone feel free to add me as well! I have 40 left to lose for my long term goal, but 30 is going to be absolutely awesome and I know I'll look and feel great. As far as weight loss strategies go, here are my general ones: 1200 calories on sedentary days Eat back some activity calories I pre-log everything A couple of…

Hi! I'm a momma too (of one son) and I definitely log in every day, it's a massive part of the reason I am going strong with my new way of eating. Feel free to friend me!
-
Right on! You are doing this! I started at 182 just 35 days ago, and have lost 10.2lbs. There is no reason you can't hit your Halloween goal. Friend me if you would like more support and motivation!

Hi there, I'm so sorry to hear that you are struggling. These early times with little babies can be so hard. I did not find that breastfeeding helped me lose weight at all, despite what I had read and heard. I think it can also sometimes be one of those things that sets mommas up for disappointment, unfortunately. It…

For me the keys to success have been carefully weighing, measuring and logging everything I eat, and limiting hard to track restaurant foods. This is something I have seen others make big mistakes on in the past, guessing at the cals in their restaurant foods and severely underestimating the calories. I believe that…

Totally! I am at 35 days today and it is definitely much easier than I anticipated. For me it's because my only goal is to count and stay under my calories. Without any added pressure of not eating certain foods, the counting cals thing is no big deal. Another awesome moment for me - I just bought these shorts in early…

Wow, thank you so much for this. Congratulations on your wonderful success! You are kicking butt!! Also I really appreciate this important warning for others. Lyme is so scary and we need to be vigilant.

I usually have two breakfasts. The first one is as soon as I wake up and is almost always cottage cheese with a tiny drizzle of maple syrup. It's a great protein hit and I've been waking up pretty hungry since starting to lose weight, and I find it's pretty filling too. Second breakfast is always coffee and either: 2…

I too have heard about many studies suggesting that saturated fat is not as bad as it used to be, and that sugar is our real enemy here. I don't worry at all about my fat counts, but do watch my fat intake somewhat since I am on a pretty low calorie budget (1200 ish) and fat is so high in cals I want to make sure there is…

Unless I know in advance that this is going to be a special flexible meal or day (in advance meaning I don't binge and then say "woops, guess this is a cheat meal!") I pre-log everything I eat. If it fits into my calorie requirement for the day, I'll eat it. But if it doesn't, and I am not willing to do a bunch of exercise…

I'm not doing the good or bad thing with food. I find if I start demonizing some items or getting too hardcore into one way of eating, I burn out and end up not focusing on my goals. Some say that coconut oil is a super food and great for us (especially our brains), other say it's a marketing gimmick that has made coconut…

I do exactly the same thing. I also weigh in first thing Friday morning and always in the buff.

I second getting great ideas from my MPF friend's diaries. I also agree with the idea of looking at what you already like and eating less of it, or learn to cook these items a little lighter. I am really into making zucchini noodles for this reason. I am a pasta freak and find I'm much more satisfied with a huge pile of…

Yes! Do this! I am not a regular exerciser at all and I've lost 10.2lbs in the past month on MPF, simply by tracking every bite of food I eat and staying under my calorie goal. I do plan to incorporate more activity in the near future, but at this time I know that it's my eating that got me to this place, so I'm eating my…

I had my son at 35 and most of my friends are having their kids in the mid-30's! Do what feels right to you, obviously, but don't let the age thing stress you out!

Wonderful thread! I had a big SV this morning and that was awesome, but also some great NSV's. The biggest is just generally feeling smaller and lighter and having more energy (burning fuel efficiently and/or having less to carry around). I also had a big cooking breakthrough when I spent a few hours making a delicious…

This sounds lovely and refreshing - thank you!

Anyone can add me if they would like. My diary is open to MFP friends and I am also doing just calorie counting, rather than other specific ways of eating. I am extremely motivated and understand that I am in this for the long haul.
-
Yup, fell for this TWICE!

I do like spaghetti squash but LOVE the zucchini noodles! Especially when I want a nice rich meaty sauce, using the zucchini balances out the meal so it's a decent calorie count (and often there's room for a nice glass of wine). Last time I made them, I sautéed some awesome local Italian sausage (out of the casing), then…

Great ideas so far! Goal 1, 10% lost: probably new running shoes, since I need them anyway and it'll feel like a reward. Goal 2, Normal BMI: Oh I'll probably host a party with some silly theme for friends. Big goal: new tattoo. A few months into maintenance - a shopping trip weekend away. I'm excited, and halfway to goal…

I am NO expert, but I'm kind of in the camp of doing what is comfortable for me and seems to work. Are you happy and comfortable those days? Are you feeling like your energy levels are okay? Are you losing weight and getting closer to your goals? These are the indications I am going by these days. When the answer is no to…

Low carb/no added sugar certainly has worked for me in the past for weight loss. I felt pretty good too, but I couldn't sustain the lifestyle in the long term. I found that the way I wanted to do it was too expensive, involved too much food prep/cooking and that it was difficult to eat while out. I always quickly gained…

I am pretty sure that there are great gluten free blogs out there (maybe gluten free girl is one?), but I can help you out with some ideas. I'm not gluten free but my husband is. He's not celiac but generally gets bad pains and is sick when he eats wheat and non g-free grains. My advice is only what works for him. He still…

I love it! I'm also a part of the No Macaroni Leftovers Club. It's the devil. About the husband though, the chip thing is really hard for me and I have asked hubs to not bring them into the house. It's been my only real request and I think it's made things easier for me. I would kick a puppy for some Doritos right now…

Wow Jeanniebee625 congratulations - what a wonderful story! I'm not trying to get pregnant currently, I think those days are over for me. I will say though that I wish I would have lost a little weight before becoming pregnant with my son! I had just gotten married and knew we were going to start trying asap, so I…

No specific items, I'm choosing to fit most foods that I like into my calorie allowance. But I've asked my old man not to bring potato chips into the house. And I've added a lot of nice leafy greens to my meals.
-
I don't generally log spices, garlic or things like the onion or lemon in the example. I would certainly log the carrot though. My philosophy right now is that as long as I am losing weight (and/or inches), then what I am doing is right. If it stops working though, then I will reevaluate everything, including my calorie…

I've certainly been sleeping lighter these days, and I'm sure it is partly to do with eating less calories. I find that taking melatonin helps.
