Oh and being called "big *my name*" in dance classes as a teenager (when I was actually 15lbs lighter than I am now).
-
My beer bellied grandfather told me I was getting thick, across a crowded room at a party for people in my home town after my wedding (a lot of them couldn't make it to my wedding because it was out of town).
-
I love that saying!
-
Not sure yet since I just started, but my breasts and face seem to be what is going away first (when what I really want to go are my hips).
-
It may also have been some good natured teasing.

I just figured it wasn't worth the discussion. I think the more I explain myself the more it brings attention to it. Hopefully people will just forget about it eventually.

Update: So I ate an ice cream sandwich (160 calories) because I was good at lunch. I got a comment from a coworker something like "Oh, now you'll eat something, but you wouldn't eat lunch yesterday." The only thing I said about my lunch to anyone yesterday was that I wanted to eat something that was easy to count the…

Thanks for that insight. No, it's just plain old insecurity.
-
Yeah I guess so. This thread is the definition of making a mountain out of a molehill (although I admit I started it when I reacted how I did).
-
Good God, how many times do I have to write that I realized that this wasn't a big deal and that I'll just ask them to order me a salad next time?
-
I would think that different people have different motivation for doing things and insecurity may play into that sometimes. Maybe that's a presumptuous arm-chair psychology statement, but whatever. This will teach me to not (edited to include the "not") start a topic.
-
You keep throwing the "rude" word in there. How is it rude even if I keep my thoughts to myself? I basically agreed with every other statement you made throughout the posts in this thread.
-
That's basically what I said to my boss afterward and he was fine. This was really a non-issue. I was just feeling insecure. Live and learn!
-
Maybe they didn't in this case. I'm not a mind reader. But then how would you explain - in general - the peer pressure to eat "junk" food? I would wager insecurity plays into that.

I definitely think it was a mistake to tell people that I'm trying to lose weight. However I do have health issues that I really don't want to talk about, so I'm kind of stuck. I'm going to try to just fly under the radar from now on and in the future when someone orders lunch, I'll just ask them to order me a salad.
-
I also finding myself having to explain what I am eating because I'm not obese and people that are heavier than me don't see why I am dieting.
-
I think you're right about the hoagies and pasta salad not being inherently bad foods and are fine in moderation. My concern was mostly that they are difficult to account for in my food diary. However, I disagree with your statement that people don't feel bad when you watch what you eat. I never ever criticize someone's…

I usually don't eat too much of my exercise calories back. I do try to hit my 1420 goal before exercise though. I don't know if this is the right thing to do or not. I just worry about underestimating calories consumed and overestimating calories burned with exercise. I have a FitBit, but I don't trust it. I haven't lost…

I gained 30lbs of fluid after one of my surgeries. It was all fluid weight. I came from the hospital with no waist or ankles. I was back to normal after about a week home.

It was actually pretty good. I had the pumpkin squash ravioli. I know that prepared/microwave meals aren't ideal, but I try to eat vegetarian (Amy's/Evol/Healthy Choice) ones that are less that 300 calories with lower sodium. It's easier for me and keeps me from going out to lunch all the time. My boss has been fine since…

I don't think it was rude, just a little strange. I think you may be right about me being oversensitive. I'm fairly new to the job and I think I'm still a bit uncomfortable. People are still getting used to my quirks. :)
-
Oh and the HR lady gave me a weird look too. I think people just get annoyed when you aren't gorging yourself on crappy food. It makes them feel bad about what they are eating.
-
I get that, but I'm not in college anymore. I don't need free pizza to get me to an event. I honestly wouldn't care about something like this if it wasn't my boss who seemed to have a problem with it.
-
I drank them after my surgeries so I would get enough protein (it helps healing). The chocolate and dark chocolate ones were pretty good.

I definitely made a comment to some dude at the gym yesterday that was not wiping off the machines. Yuck!

I had my gallbladder removed when I had a liver resection. I have no problems with fats, but I tend to not eat stuff with a whole lot of fat in it. My father had his gallbladder out and he eats terribly, but doesn't have a problem (other than being overweight). I think the whole no/low fat thing for gallbladder problems…

Planet Fitness gets a lot of internet hate, but their no-lunk rules ban that sort of thing so I don't see much of it. What I do see are people coughing all over the water fountain and dudes getting on the elliptical right next to me even though there are tons of other ones open and then doing it again when I move to a…

Here's another one. I really really want to stress that you should ignore anyone on the internet who is touting some miracle cure. There really is no such thing. Cancer treatment sucks BIG TIME, but unfortunately it's something we have to just go through. Good luck, hang in there and take it one day at a time.…

You can't starve cancer cells. It's impossible. They will get their sugar either from the food you eat or your other cells that store it. There are a lot of people who promote BS "cures" on the internet. If you want to supplement traditional therapy with diet, supplements and/or other alternatives that's OK (just run…
