I don't think it is a matter of willpower. If you deny yourself everything you love, you may live forever. But why? It's the same with dieting. If it's going to work it has to be a lifestyle change. You have to learn portion control and self control. However if you deny yourself everything you like, you will hate your new…

I think abs are one of the only muscle groups that don't need a lot of time off. However pay attention to your body. If you get too sore, take some time off.

Congratulations on the exam! Set your goals high and keep striving for them. Just learn to be happy with any progress and keep trying. I've always found that setting a goal that is just a bit too high for me keeps me pushing harder than I would have otherwise. I don't get down on myself when i don't get there, I just push…

You look like you're doing a fantastic job with the exercise and weight loss already. Six week of cardio alone may make things a bit strained but you can bounce back easy enough if you eat sensibly. GL

Go, have fun. I have been guilty of having a beer while exercising and just considering calories and sugars I don't thing there is a huge bonus to having a soda. I definitely won't suggest weight lifting while hammered but a drink really won't hurt that much. Now don't get me wrong I know drinking is bad always and that…

I can't see your food and exercise diary so I can't really offer any personalized advice. So please bear in mind that this is all generalized stuff that may not fit you. Honestly, If you can keep up with three little ones especially two of the twins you can whip this weight thing like a red headed step child. I can't tell…

I've gone over now and then but not usually planned it that way. If I want something extra, that's where the eating burned calories comes in. In two hours I can burn about 1k calories. For me that's two drinks and an ice cream cone if i want it. I don't always indulge but if I decide to, I like to be ready.

I personally believe in working out when I am high energy and most likely to finish the workout. For me that is early morning, but as long as your doing it do what works for you.

I have to agree. Mine is open to my friends, but most of them understand that the only welcome advice is asked for advice. I really don't have the patience for explaining that to three people a day when I leave it open to the public. Besides, I don't want anyone to know that I secretly eat nothing but Cheetos. They are…

Not at all but I think if you get much over 2 hours you're really not pushing it hard enough. Perhaps you have become a Zumba goddess and should focus on the weights or cardio machines more? I believe your fitness like your weight can plateau and it really is necessary to do something different now and then.

I don't generally eat anything I didn't cook (save for my weekly night out but the alcohol I imbibe has to be worse for me than outback food) I think the prepackaging is all about portion control . With a little effort and a freezer one could create these for themselves cheaper and healthier. I often do an entire work…

At first yes. Just a diet change for the better helps most people loose weight. Now the question is do you want to loose weight or get in shape. Skinny does not automatically equal healthy. I've never met anyone who owns a television set that truly has no time to exercise.

Well said sir!

I'm confused. Isn't and extract an extracted portion of the real thing?

My usual morning is up at 4am, coffee, working out by 4:30. Weights 30 minutes, elliptical 60 to 90 minutes, weights 30 minutes. Or Treadmill instead of elliptical. I mix up what I do with the weights and use different settings on the elliptical. I can't stand the videos (too perky) in the mornings so it's just working…

First let me say that you look wonderful. The only things I can say are if you do the same things consistently with food and exercise you will find a balance and stay there. The HRM is valuable as it shows what you are doing not the averages or machine readings based on averages. As I've gotten in better shape (pear as…

Well, sugar doesn't make you fat. Especially if you leave it in the container it came in. The thing is your body (everyone's body) is lazy and will burn the easy fuel first. Which means you have to wait till it's done burning sugar before it will go for the fat you're trying to lose.

Agreed and take them the same time every week. Same time of day as well. Self image is a big part of what we see in the mirror. Even at my weight loss I don't see a huge change, others do. Our ego's always paint what we see in the mirror. At the end of the day, you are creating a better and healthier you. All the effort…

I do one to two hours of cardio a day and an hour of weight training. Should you start there? no. However be forewarned that for many of us it's addictive.

Hey and welcome! Feel free to add me and congratulations on starting a rather difficult journey. However before you add me please be aware that many think I'm abrasive and I have a zero tolerance policy for BS, especially the BS we try to convince ourselves of.

I'll likely be stripped of my man club card for this but let me let you in on a little secret. Men are all a bunch of Pu**ys The more attracted to you we are the less likely we are to approach you because your positive reaction has become too valuable to risk. We also can't imagine that a women we find to be painfully…

So maybe it's a bit of a jerk statement to make, but it seems to me that the most aggressive statements on this thread have to do with people saying to just watch what you eat, don't gain a lot of weight, and burn it the heck off. Sorry but it seems that all the repeats of: "unfair" "unfair" "freakish" "we're all…

It may also have something to do with what time you weight yourself. I try to weigh in at the same day same time every week. You are always heavier at the end of the day. You're drinking 8 pounds of water alone. and no that is not too much water.

:flowerforyou: well put and thanks!

Don't give into your inner infant and keep pushing on even when it whines. Giving up every couple of weeks will get you nowhere. Next, be progressive. If you've been doing 30 minutes 4 days a week try adding a day, or try adding another 15 minutes. It has to be about improving your health not just the way you look or just…

Strength training, cardio and well... eat less fat. GIGO

I think scale hammering should be our next Olympic sport. I mean if curling can make it in why not, and scale hammering would be much more fun and good for venting frustrations as well. Seriously everyone fluctuates over the week.

For me a mile and a half should be at maximum 13 minutes. Of course that was beaten into my head by our armed forces. :-)
