I.just did day 1 of stronglift 5x5, I am also running 3x a week and feel that the program looks really.easy and I.thought I would be intimated at the gym but I wasn't. It also supposedly doesn't leave you sore, I've tried other exercises and been so sore running hurt.

They were fine, not too heavy
-
So I'm also going to take my picture today when I get home, and again every month for the 12 weeks. I wish I would have done that with my weight loss.
-
So I'm at the gym doing it now, just the bar like they recommend. So far no issues, though I may need to ask someone to watch me to check my form next time before I start adding weights. This isn't so bad.
-
So read the stronglift page, watched the videos, downloaded the app even. I think I'll.give it a shot but now I'm confused what to do on my off days. I normally jog 3x a week and they say don't do anything on your off days, I do some sort of physical activity everyday so I'm not sure what to do
-
So talking to a guy I know he said stronglifts 5 thing will most likely get me injured cause I'm a beginner, he also said things like deadlifts aren't really necessary. I don't know who to trust
-
Yeah I realize that. It would be easier if I had a friend who lifts, I'll figure it out.
-
I guess I can take a couple of days, go slow and figure out the proper technique before really working the program. Thanks, looks like I have some reading and research to do
-
I saw that earlier when reading another post and I can honestly say that I am intimidated by that program cause I don't know how to do some of those exercises.
-
Thanks, I have no idea how to lift so this will be interesting
-
what youtube videos or series of videos do you recommend? What did your beginning workout routine look like?
-
Yep, no clean plate club when you go out.
-
I've found that too, sometimes I lose when I'm sure I've gained
-
Its OK to go over your calories 1 day and guess what? You will still lose weight... I went to buffalo wild wings one week and pigged out (15 wings and fries) come weigh in day, I still lost. Not as much as normal, but a loss is a loss. Good luck and enjoy

I do think you need to give up soda and start drinking water. Took me like 2 weeks to completely detox and like water. It'll be one of the best things you can do. Also I agree with the 3 meals and snacks. I have a morning and afternoon snack and 3 smaller meals. Exercise everyday, even if its just a 2 mile walk around your…

since i have lost almost 80lbs so far, in my experience the people who you closely interact with daily (family and close friends) they notice at about the 20/25lb mark, people at my work didn't really start saying anything until I was closer to 40/50lbs and that is mainly cause they just don't see me enough or unsure…

start drinking more water and cut out sodas (even diet) if you can. Once I rid those from my diet I didn't crave sweets as much (actually I hardly ever crave them now)
-
most people I know have trouble staying under the sodium level, myself included. I am not a doctor or a scientist but if you aren't taking in the recommended level from MFP it is probably ok.
-
IME I believe means in my experience, and yes it automatically adjusts, for me every 10lbs I lose it adjusts
-
yeah pretty sure the whole cheat to trick your metabolism has been debunked as not true...

+1 Don't listen to nutritionists, they are all full of *kitten*

water weight or weight from the muscles you are building from the squats.
-
nvm

giving up soda, caffeine, and artificial sweeteners is the best thing anyone can do for themselves. Once those process out of your system, you feel 10x better and it's much easier to stay on track.

So happy to see so many people trying to change their lifestyle and get healthier. I started using this program in July and it has really helped me. Just follow the calorie guidelines and you will succeed. Good luck everyone.
-
yeah you should never cut out the foods you love to eat, or even like to eat. That is the sure fire way to fail. Make it fit, even if you have to eat less of it. Cooked pasta is about 1 cup like already mentioned (sometimes you can't weigh dry pasta especially if you are making it for others) Eat a salad or some other sort…

Im not at maintenance yet, and I know it'll be hard but if you mess.up 1 day, its not going to be a permanent weight gain. You have to really hog out to gain permanent weight. Always try to.stay under your calorie goal IMO.

As for your spag bol, I would measure each thing you are putting in and create a meal. If you are .making 1 portion then you don't have to do anything else. If you are making 4 portions then you add the meal but out you are only eating 1/4th. BTW, corn in.your spag bol? Never heard of that before, but in america we don't…
