I do think there are probably a lot of people eating gluten free who might not need to. However, I don't think it's fair to say that some level of gluten sensitivity does not exist in some people who do not have celiac disease. And like others have mentioned, GI issues may be a clue.

I eat it microwaved with sausage (the sausage I have does wonders for adding flavor).

I think there's a lot parents can do with teaching kids the importance of a nutritious diet. I think it is beneficial for kids to have some idea of calories and foods that are low/high in them, but I don't think meticulous calorie counting is necessary for most kids.

I realize that my last few comments in this thread were highly controversial, but I wasn't trying to make it seem as though I think only they have problems and no one else does. I know obesity is a problem that affects everyone, including a lot of kids and adult men. I personally know a lot of people (including guys I work…

What do those parental concerns have to do with looking at someone and being able to get a rough idea of whether they're carrying around a lot of excess weight or not? That's a way to shift the discussion in a completely different direction.

I never claimed to be able to tell exactly how much weight anyone gained. I said I could tell a difference between a little extra weight and a ton. And since this thread is about unpopular opinions, what I'm saying is still valid.
-
I did not ask. But I also know other pregnant women who did not gain excessively. There's obviously a noticeable difference between a few extra pounds and a ton extra.

I also just got the Charge 2 and agree with everything you said. I used to have the One and it didn't overestimate the calories burned as much as my Charge is. Just yesterday I did a 1-2 hr cardio/weight workout, followed by some additional walking. Considering I was pretty much sedentary for the rest of the day combined…

IRL, I would say that more than half of women I know who have become pregnant gained substantially more weight than they needed to. I don't know if that represents the population as a whole, but among those I actually know, it seems to me like it's a very common (and preventable) issue.
-
Regarding women and pregnancy weight gain, I think it's fair to say this. There are a lot of women out there who gain a lot more than what they really need to. Regardless of whatever amount of weight that is, there are a lot of women who gain excessively.

That is really sad. But then, so many Americans have no idea where a lot of their food really comes from so I guess I can't be too surprised.

This goes back to one of my points I made in my OP regarding what's been proven and what has not been.

Over here in the U.S., I'm pretty sure those same foods would be laced with preservatives, particularly when it comes to cheaper brands.

That experiment was only done on one person, and it validates the research that suggests that in some people, (excess) weight is strongly linked to a lot of health issues. What it does not take into account is that there are plenty of normal weight people with normal body fat levels that can and do suffer from many of…

If you make your own using plain Greek yogurt as a starter, you should end up with a decent amount of live cultures in it.

Counting calories each day for a few years is one thing. But for those that do it, do you really envision doing it for 25+ years to come?

While this is separate from weight loss, I think bread can sometimes be viewed this way since gluten can negatively affect some individuals who don't have true celiac disease.

I know I'm late, and most everything I've listed here has been covered, but I'll list my unpopular opinions. 1. While I do believe in moderation of most foods, I do still think that there are healthy foods and unhealthy foods. It's just that the unhealthy foods are what should make up the minority of what we eat. 2. While…

While it wouldn't directly impact weight loss, for a lot of people that amount of digestion may negatively affect sleep. If I ate a meal that large that close to bedtime, I would probably toss and turn for a long time.

It may depend on the brand. My thighs are small for a male and yet I can completely fill out a pair of Gap slim fit jeans. So, the skinny fit would actually be too small for me, and I would guess it's probably suited for a male with 17-18" thighs.

I agree he's not saying fructose itself is toxic, but I gather what he said to mean 135g of fructose is what he considers to be "gross chronic excess".
-
In the quantities with which some people eat/drink sugar, I would say that fructose is toxic. Alan Aragon agrees that drinking a half dozen cans of soda a day is a toxic amount of sugar. I did a quick search on the Internet and can see that some people do indeed drink that much a day.

I keep a record of how many hours and how many miles I drive, and have been doing this ever since I got my learner's permit (I have been driving on my own for a little over 4 years now).
