  • bump for this awesome advice
  • How much fat are you eating? How much sodium? Those would be my first questions. I'm also interested in this topic because I eat low carb and I've been feeling wiped out lately. Currently I'm at the gym 5x/week, doing a 60-90minutes cardio day, followed by a lifting day, cardio day, rest, lifting day, cardio day, rest or…
  • ^^^THIS. Join a gym with childcare. Drop your 6 year old off at school, go to the gym and let your little one play with all the other kids while you get a workout! Alternatively you can go to the gym in the AMs while your partner is getting the kids up and ready for their day. I did this before my kids were old enough to…
  • I don't really like packaged salad dressings anymore, they are too sweet for me... I usually just end up doing salt and pepper, and lemon juice. Maybe also some chili flakes.
  • I use a meal planning site sometimes (paleoplan.com), depending on what the recipes are. They give shopping lists and recipes. It's helpful for times when I feel like I'm making the same thing over and over. On Monday I plan the week's dinner based on what activities the family is doing (so I'm not cooking a big meal when…
  • This. I listen to Pandora: 90's grungy type music (Green Day, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, etc.) for cardio and for strength training, and when I'm doing my abs and stretches I listen to more mellow stuff (like Fleet Foxes or Jose Gonzalez).
  • 90 min cardio crosstrain elliptical, ab work, then stretches
  • 30 minutes of cross train elliptical, then my weight program, then my ab exercises and stretches.
  • Tonight I'm making a rack of lamb, cauliflower rice with lime and cilantro, and sauteed spinach. I cook for my family of five (myself, husband, two teenagers, and my mom who lives with us). I try to make food most everyone will enjoy, although now my daughter has decided she is a pescatarian. She will get beans or…
  • That's where I carry most of my weight too. I've lost over 40 pounds and I have about 30ish to go to get to goal, and this is what I have noticed: still have chunky thighs and butt, but they are reducing. I am going to measure next month, my 6 month anniversary so to speak, and compare the inches. I have gone down several…
  • 90 minutes of cross train elliptical, then my ab exercises and stretches. Tomorrow is a strength day.
  • I no longer go every day after I started my low-carb paleo diet and I was accustomed to my morning poopies. I don't do this every night, but I take about 500mg magnesium citrate before bed and in the morning it usually comes. If it doesn't come immediately it usually does after my morning cup of coffee. I tried psyllium…

  • Hi, i mentioned this in my previous intro post, but thought I'd share here too: I'm on a program called JumpstartMD, where I eat very low carb, moderate protein, and low calories. I go,in once a week for a weigh on, a check in with a counselor, and they take my blood pressure and offer an injection of some amino acids that…
  • Hi there, I'm 41, mom to two teenagers (14 and 16). I started my weight loss journey in March and have lost 40 lbs. I have about 30 more to go to get to my goal of a healthy BMI. I have been feeling a bit stagnant and would love more of a boost! I want to kick this weight off! I'm on a program called JumpstartMD, where I…
  • I'm a huge fan of acupuncture and I really recommend it for issues related to your cycle. You may have to go several times a month for the effects. Do you have access to community acupuncture? It's usually cheaper, sliding scale around $15-40 or so. I don't know if this is something that is available to you or if you can…
  • water bottle ipad (for reading books while on elliptical) ipod for tunes half-round foam roller for my back clean clothes makeup bag I have a rental locker at the gym where I store my shampoo, deodorant, etc. so I don't have to bring that stuff back and forth all the time. I wear my workout clothes to the gym. I know it's…
  • my salt craving is satisfied with these foods: pickles fermented food (kimchi, sauerkraut) broth (veggie, beef, chicken, whatever) jerky I'm not really HUNGRY, but I want the salt and find these lower calorie foods do the trick and then I don't have to eat chips or crackers to satisfy.
  • eggs almond milk leafy greens chicken broccoli
  • Eggs are my mainstay. I fry up two eggs and eat them over greens. I also add a little bit of homemade unsweetened almond milk to my coffee. That's my everyday breakfast. Other ideas: Sausage Smoked salmon greek yogurt veggie frittata tofu scramble hope this helps
  • Hi, I'm doing a low-carb paleo style of eating and find it works really well for me. Feel free to friend me :-)
  • This is me too! I have cut out grains as well and eat mostly Paleo and it has made a huge difference in my life. I started my new lifestyle in March and I have lost 40 lbs since then. I joined this community a few days ago because I needed more support and it's been great! I have craved sweets for my entire life it seems,…
  • Hi there, I'm starting a Whole30 challenge today and would love to find a buddy, even if you're ahead of me ;-). I eat mostly paleo anyway, except the booze which will probably be my biggest challenge. Everyone in my house is an evening/dinner wine drinker (except the kids LOL) but oh well. I'm just looking to challenge…
  • Add me! I need friends too!
  • I'm addicted to soda water. I have a Sodastream, which carbonates my water. I drink a ton of water per day, 100+. I started drinking the fizzy water as a way to stop drinking beer (has the same sensation going down) and now I can't stop :-)
