I would go with Hal's plan but you may benefit from the group motivation of Couch to Half. My wife enjoyed the positive group interaction and encouragement of her Couch to 5K last year. Regardless I'd say start running at least ten miles a week now and increase your mileage no more than 10% each week or two.

I also didn't meet my goal as my chest cold lasted almost ten days this month. Believe I can make 80 for November!

Congrats!

Which exercises help prevent runner's knee problems?

I only ran 65 of my 80 mile October goal due to sickness so I'm going for 80 miles again for November. :)

My doctor said to stop running if my cold's below the neck and continue running if it's above the neck. I've had a chest cold since my last run 10/12 but plan to resume in the next few days.

Most of my runs are around my subdivision as I try to avoid high traffic. I also take some longer runs across the Cooper River Bridge and on a few local trails for variety. I love being outdoors.

I've used my Garmin Forerunner 10 to track/log over 100 runs this year and like it. The Garmin Connect website not only has all my runs online (and various run plans/goals) but also syncs with myfitnesspal. My wife and I own both regular and large pocket SPIbelts to hold our smartphones, ID, keys. I recommend the large pocket SPIbelt for your iPhone 6. It's what I use for my Galaxy S4. http://www.spibelt.com/products/spibelt/large-pocket-spibelt

I, along with many, run/walk so I'd include your walking mileage.
