You've been out of it for 9 months yet are going for 200 miles in January? I hope you're kidding. :)

Charleston (SC) has a similar (flat) marathon and half marathon January 17th. My wife and I are registered for the half. It'll be the first time either has run it. We also enjoyed Kiawah HM last Saturday. :)
-
I also ran Kiawah Island HM Saturday. I was happy to finish at 2:22:19 as I was nursing a sprained ankle.

I would like to better my best 2014 5k, 10k, and HM times. And avoid injury. :)

I agree with everything said except that 800 Cals/hour is really high. Calories burned depends a lot on how much one weighs. I weigh about 180 and usually burn a little over 800 calories an hour of running. :)

I still have an unused pair of Asics GT-2000 2 and it's probably going to be my last pair of "high-heeled" running shoes. I like what I've read about Hokas. I might buy a pair in 2015. Vans are too casual and I'm not familiar with Chucks. I'm thinking maybe a foot-friendly dress Rockport, Clarks, or other "new to me" for…

MFP gave me calorie credit for every run twice! Are you having that problem?

Thanks for sharing! :)

I'm scaling back to 60 miles for December due to ankle injury now, half marathon Dec 13 and the holidays.

Ted, congrats on completing your first full marathon! I don't even plan to ever attempt one. Half marathons are my maximum planned races.

My running store recommended Asics Gel GT-2000 2 based on my slight over pronation gait analysis about a year ago. I'm enjoying my second pair now. A few months ago I bought ASICS GEL-Super J33. They're lighter (less padding) but still provide some stability for over pronators. I currently plan to run in them at my Dec 13…

Congrats!

I just start in the middle of the pack or near where most that run my pace are. I also just use my Garmin Forerunner to keep my runs, including PRs.

I sincerely appreciate the timely advice. My Garmin Forerunner 10 has a virtual pacer that I plan to set to 10:30 for both remaining long runs. Is it ok to run my 2-3 other weekly runs at 9-9:30 or tempo pace ? If variety will help me get a sub-2 HM Dec 13, I'd do fartlek once a week but am not currently interested in…
-
I also have trouble jogging slower than a 9:30 pace on any runs, training for my first HM in a while Dec 13. My 2014 5K PB is 25:36 and I run 3-4 times a week, the longest 12 mi now. I plan to do a long run (12-14 mi) the next two weekends then taper the first two weeks in Dec. What should my 12-14 mi pace be? I'm only…

I don't understand your garmin connect problem. My 1K, 1 mile, and10K PR at garmin connect are all just segments of longer runs.

I've run a couple of HMs but no marathons so my advice is just based on what I've read. I would start training for a full marathon now as you don't want to increase total weekly mileage more than 10% a week. Here's a few good marathon running plans: http://www.halhigdon.com/training/51135/marathon-training-guide…
