It's a process. If you have an unhealthy relationship with food to begin with the reward concept isn't going to work at all. Just as a financial reward for straight A's is doomed for failure, but engaging in this may cause one to recognize that success is it's own reward. There's nothing unhealthy about thinking about…

My Grandma used to make everyone their favorite cookie on their birthday - mine was a Ranger cookie - oatmeal raisin with amaranth and coconut or rice crispies, or some granola. Super calorie dense and perfect for long hikes/trail runs.

My Dad used to pick these up on the drive home from the mine on special occasions. Nutty Buddies were my favorite and I would pull the layers apart and eat them individually - savoring every sweet second. Glorious!

Precisely. Attempts to silence only make things worse. The only viable option is to be consistent in presenting objective information and using any and all attempts at persuasive debate.

People change their minds when something isn't working. The vast majority of us don't question our activity and even less question when they are hitting their goals. There's no harm in someone believing something that isn't true. The only issue is when they attempt to tell others of this false information and why we rely…

There's a number of us on the site. My wife and I completed a number of them and earned our Spartan Race trifecta 2 years back. Looking forward to bringing the kids into this next year.

I would agree - it is one of many symptoms. The root causes are behavioral in response to dramatically changing environment - primarily being food abundance and decreased physical activity. Secondary factors being the rise of television and other non-executive thought activities. You don't know what you don't know.…

One of the guys frequenting the gym on base is a psychologist and routinely works out with his patients when they talk. Things get heated often and emotions run high. Now granted this is the Naval Special Warfare Preparatory School Gym, so you've got a mix of 18 year old recruits getting ready for BUD/S and 20 yr combat…

Precisely. The cost savings is substantial and one could use the funds to invest into anything else and get a better rate of return.

This is primarily dependent on your blood volume - your body mass. The larger you are the less impact. Second to this is how used you are to getting blood drawn/donating. Take it easy today. Hydrate - drink a V8 or something similar and see how you feel tomorrow.

Yup - hundreds of flights cancelled, but roads really good. Looks like most communities pushed Trick R Treating to Saturday. I just ordered a new blower: Just in time!

It's a learning process. When you're just beginning you don't have enough information to ask the right questions, so you begin by asking questions, receiving answers and then proceding to the next layer/level of questions and thought. That and the questions many ask are entirely subjective and requires several data points…

Definitely worth it. When I was at my heaviest and 70 lbs overweight I didn't want to aggravate my knee by running and did a lot of swimming. The elliptical was a great change between the swimming and biking. Once I got down to a healthier weight I incorporated running. I still use the elliptical, but we sold our personal…

After Trick r Treating yesterday I'm inspired to be the old man ladeling out soup into the bags of candy BWAHAHAHAHA! There was one guy who handed out bags of ramen - I imagine this tradition started where he forgot to buy candy and just had some ramen on hand.

There's a great deal of truth to this. We've been conditioned by marketing to believe that we need something - pill, diet, ShakeWeight, etc. to succeed. Balancing a caloric checkbook seems like fantasy when you are detached from reality. We need to do a better job in marketing the "how do I execute" CICO, but this is so…

During this process it is worth noting that the owner would want to sell the current car and therefore keep it in the best condition for sale - build to purpose, vacuum, maintain, wash & wax, etc. In essence show some love. If I'm looking to purchase said car and I see that it wasn't maintained, full of trash, covered with…

Bite? As in more than one cookie? One bite/cookie. With a glass of milk I do the fireman dunk - drop a cookie in the glass or mug of hot chocolate and you get a glorious belt of cookie, chocolate, and milk.
