I believe he is discounting this because it is not objectively factual, or at least provable. Note the error of instrumentation is ~5%, so even if this may occur it is less than 5% and beneath detection. I can see how this notion gets traction on a macro scale, that work under fast burns more, but isn't how it works on a…

Hunger is the physiological need for food - brought on gradually, slowly over time and not specific. Appetite is the desire to eat - quicker onset and triggered by behaviors, hormone changes, etc and more specific - salty, sweet, chocolate, etc. Nearly every weight management program incorporates some manner of learning…

Moments like this bring up challenges to our perception. You can either look at this and be inspired, experience dissonance, or variations in between. It doesn't change reality, but it may shatter subjective and relative perception.

The curse of Eve :) HUUGE impact from hormones - the intent of which is to protect cells and structures from damage. Skinny jeans weren't considered in the evolutionary process.

It's driven be so many variables - the conditioning of the individual, sodium intake, normal water intake/output, hormonal fluctuation, body composition, genetic variability...endless... The largest one I experienced was 12 lbs - this was after a Spartan Beast and Super, followed up with a high sodium celebration meal. All…

Like saying no one can gain wealth because the value of currency is in fluctuation. Nonsense.

I compare how long it takes to let things go compared to how long it took me to get back to square. It took me 14 years to get out of shape, but only a year to get back to into it. I established discipline so I don't have to rely on being negative or positive. I'm just following a script of continued progress. I embrace…

Note that many professional scientists and medical professionals dismiss logging due to the inaccuracies. As a professional scientist I dismiss this claim as the degree of accuracy and precision is suited for purpose. It's as accurate as the process needs to be. When I started logging I was precise - I tared bowls,…

I have a fitness coach friend who draws in clients similar to you who have been led astray by thinking that weight loss is the only option. She carries a before/after photo with her - the before is at 105lbs when she was spending several hours/day doing intense cardio and starving herself - the after at 125 after changing…

These extreme examples are why it is important to understand where you are in fitness and body fat %. A male with 30% bodyfat isn't going to experience any meaningful change by focusing on macros and may set themselves back by pushing their body too hard if attempting to mimic the behavior of someone more experienced and…

I was an avid climber and grew up worshipping the stonemasters. On a team reunion in Vegas we took a trip out to Red Rock Canyon and saw some climbers, which got me thinking I needed to start climbing again, but I was really out of shape and 70 lbs overweight. Started MFP a few months later. Maintained a small deficit and…

Former patrol and tactics. I conduct training at this point. Put 70 lbs on over 14 years and lost 60+ in my first year of MFP - been in maintenance for almost 5 years now.

You've got a great mentality - any progress is still progress. For the joint pain seek out a medical professional first, but progressive resistance helped me tremendously with a damaged knee.
-
I did both - gradually decreased my caloric intake based on the MFP model of ~1 lb/week and gradually increased my activity. I set a large goal - to lose 60 lbs in a year and set a number of smaller goals in support of this along the way. I started a program similar to C25K and took it slow to make sure I didn't injure…

Because if it's not sugar....it's them.

I would imagine a majority of the MFP population has been here at some point. I certainly was when I realized the results of my behavior. The critical point in this can all be undone with changes to behavior and time. Bringing up the past can be helpful if and only if you are trying to learn from this, but not if you're…

Worth a "Chance"

As long as you moderate your intake of humans.

There isn't much evidence in support of "intuitive eating". Imagine balancing your checkbook, but lacking the numbers of your paycheck, lacking the price of your purchases, and loosely being able to check your balance. There is nothing intuitive about eating - your physiology lacks the ability to maintain a weight range…

I was hiking and mtn. biking at Elephant Rocks and in the middle of a break we started picking up trash around the area and ended up cleaning up the entire area. A ranger stopped by to chat and saw what we did and gave us an unlimited park pass for every park in Missouri for the whole year!

Nope - closest I can describe is if you squished cotton candy and ate it. Mild artificial banana flavor.

I have not tried this yet. Not sure how I feel about this, but have hopes that the goodness of Scotch can overcome all obstacles. https://time.com/5694256/glenlivet-capsules-whiskey-pods/

Need some creative use of tubing right here.

The Golden Ratio - 1.618. Ideally bodybuilders strive for a complimentary measurement 1.618x greater or lesser than another - thinking hips to waist, bicep head to brachii (median), etc.

One of the greatest joys as a hunter (or anyone who loves what they do) is to introduce someone into their sport. I've been a firearms instructor for 30 years now and look forward to new shooters every session. I've always wanted to learn to fly fish. One of our elders was a master and it was art watching him work a river.

Every 10 years I get a craving for one and buy a bag and eat...one. Then I'm good for another decade.

If I look back at the reason I gained weight and lost it activity would be at the top of this list. It's difficult to eat when walking, reading, and being active. When I stopped being active and watching more TV I invited opportunities to mindlessly eat. When I gradually become more active I consciously minimized these…

I've likely spent the majority of my life in the outdoors and while hiking, camping, kayaking, etc. have brought me close to nature, but none of this came close to hunting. Hunting is the active embrace of good management and conservation. There's a level of executive thought taking place when you commit to a physical…

I picked my weight at my previous physical peak which is at the upper level of healthy BMI.

Be direct and let him know you are not interested. With the phone if something like this happens I ask people what the number is and dial it for them and call on their behalf. You wouldn't hand a stranger several hundred dollars packed with private sensitive information, but we tend to forget how critical our phones are.
