  • Kristy, it's now 2.30pm and you've just posted this... It is a little late in the day for me, yeah... This iced water challenge is a bit hard for me, as it's just REALLY hit winter here - very very cold and raining non-stop. However, I'll give it a shot and definitely fill my cup today! I add things to my water - cucumber,…
  • I've had a CRAZY weekend, without any chance to exercise. But tomorrow I'll be hitting that cleaning challenge hard! My house certainly needs it under the last few days.
  • What bigger motivator do we need than weight loss? The scales tell me I'm rad! Seriously though, I'm motivated by great music to get me moving. I'm motivated by a BIG stack of clothes I've had to put aside over the last few years, thinking "I'm fat now, but I'll fit back into them" - hopefully in the next few weeks I WILL…
  • CONGRATS, UltraRunnerGale, that's fantastic. Isn't it just the best feeling EVER? I fit my workouts in whenever I can. I live in a very small apartment, so whenever my boyfriend's out of the house I jump on the Wii and get at it! I also walk to work when it's not raining, so that means usually some sweating in the morning,…
  • There's different "fun" workouts. There's fun, like funny. That's Just Dance on the Wii. Hilarious stuff. Or go-go dancing classes, there's a few at local pubs in my area and they're heaps of fun. But there's also "fun" like the satisfaction I get when I complete the workout. That's fun too - for this I'd say Jillian…
  • I just spent an hour on Just Dance, shimmying and jumping my (not so) little butt off! And a bit of a NSV - when I was dancing I looked down at my legs and though "DAMN! Those legs are starting to look GOOD!" I was one of the people who did significantly better in week 2 than week 1 - the difference for me was in the…
  • Instead of the jumping jacks, I jumped around to Just Dance on Wii... My goodness, how did I never know this amazing game was out there? Thanks MFP for getting me onto it, I'm addicted!
  • Great secret-sharing idea: I don't have a HRM, so I don't know how many calories I'm burning, I just have to trust the exercise diary on here. Looking forward to seeing what everyone else does. I know what I do works in terms of getting results: the 30 day shred DVD 5 days a week in the morning. Whatever I can get around…
  • Feeling good, everyone! I thought I'd just leave a message on here to share my happiness at my weigh-in result: this week, I lost 1.5kgs, which is almost 3lbs... after a no-loss week last week, that feels great :) And it motivates me to keep going! By week 10 I plan on fitting into all those clothes which don't-quite-fit…
  • It's evening here, I'm about to go to work. BUT I'll still find time to squeeze in that 30 mins of strenuous activity! I'll speed-walk home, and then past home to some point where I will have puffed and grunted for 30 mins, then return home and shower. Early morning and VERY busy weekend for me - working an industry event…
  • I'm not a shift-worker, but I DO suffer from depression - I find that having control over my weight, my exercise, and what I eat, significantly improves my depression. And there's loads of studies that look (favourably) at the impact exercise has on depression because of the chemicals exercising releases in your body. All…
  • All these success stories are pretty motivating - I'm on Day 5 and having an awful day today, really not wanting to work out. However, knowing that you guys have got such great results out of it, I think I will :) Day 5, not seeing any results but my body's feeling good.
  • Jami, I'm on day 4 of 30DS too, so maybe it's something particular to the exercises it involves. Pity nobody's provided any answers on this one :(

  • Yep, Jami, that's where it is for me too... It doesn't feel like I've done any damage, I don't think, but it's pretty sore...

  • That challenge sounds awesome, Hannahrenee - is it just what it sounds like? Do as many as you can every day til you reach it?
  • WOW, Kristy, what a HUGE amount of work you've put into that spreadsheet! Well done, and THANK YOU! HUGE CONGRATULATIONS to Ready4achange and Beachgurl; those are some amazing and definitely inspiring losses! Mmm, cravings... Risotto! I have a fantastic Weight Watchers recipe which is more roast veggies than aborio rice,…
  • Talysshade, cauliflower with a little bit of nutmeg is great too :) Very weight-loss friendly and super tasty!
  • That actually looks really cool and motivating... I'm in Australia, any idea if it's a worldwide deal?
  • Just putting something out there for accountability: I'm on day 2 of the 30 Day Shred. Stickin' with it. Spicing up veggies: my favorite is bok choy with soy and sesame oil. Just wilt a bunch of bok choy in some hot water, then pour over a tablespoon of equal parts soy & sesame oil. SOOO tasty! And boy choy's PACKED with…
  • WOW, you guys are amazing! Cancelling your cable is extreme, but admirable! If only I could find a way to walk while reading... Maybe on a treadmill? Damn our sedentary hobbies! To all the people who gained - CHIN UP! We're here, and it sounds like none of you are giving up. I didn't gain weight, but I didn't lose any…
  • Thanks for the shout-out, Kristy! Feeling a bit discouraged today, I've been weighing myself every day and am not where I'd like to be... Thinking about re-assessing my goals, but I'm not sure whether that's like copping out. Movement today - my work's pretty physical, I"ll be moving around boxes of beer and bottles for…
  • Roxxayy, I've had a lot of success with Michelle Bridges, and it's a very sensible diet - just wholefoods and exercise. You should be able to get her books (Crunch Time, the Crunch Time Cookbook and Losing The Last 5 Kilos) on Amazon.
  • Well done! It's so much more real when your clothes don't fit any more, hey?
  • Today I did the longest workout I've done since making the choice to make this lifestyle change. For 40 mins, I gave a hundred percent. I sweated a lot, and I burned over 200 calories. I got given some great advice by someone on one of these forums (sorry, I can't remember your name!) the other day. She told me that it's…
  • Yeah, it's hard to tell what's a better idea - sticking with the same exercise so that you can measure your progress, or mixing it up heaps so that your body doesn't get complacent... I'm all over the place with mine, it usually depends how much time I've got or whether anything's sore. This morning I did 40 mins on EA…
  • I"m not sure if it's the same as the "personal trainer" one - there IS a personal trainer in this one, but I'm not sure if that's what it's actually called, sorry. I haven't had any trouble with the balance board, mine doesn't really call for me to use it all that often. I really want to get the 2nd game, they bought out…
  • Agilegazelle, that idea about keeping busy is SO TRUE! And it works two-fold: if you're busy, you get more done and you don't think about food, but you also burn more calories because you're (presumably) more active doing things. Love it!
  • Definately agree with soshotout and siouxprincess - PLAN! I pack lunch the night before, and add up the calories. I usually allow enough calories so I can have a coffee while I'm out, that's my treat. I'm actually following Michelle Bridges' "Crunch Time" menu plans, so that's all pre-tallied, but I do make a lot of…
  • Thanks, everyone! I feel twice as good now! (off to work out! - a real one this time, not just walking. Ramping it up!)
  • Count me in! I've emailed my measurements as of the 16/5 and sent you my goal for week 5. What a great motivator! I've only been back in the game for a week, so I can't say I've really had any achievements to celebrate so far! I have been feeling very positive though, so that's a celebration in itself.
