Getting real with myself, on a good day.
Today is a rare (lately) good day, in terms of my outlook and mental clarity, so I'm taking this opportunity to re-introduce myself, and to publicly get real with myself. I am a yo-yo dieter. I go through periods of intense commitment, and lose weight and get healthy, and then I just stop. I'm not sure what triggers the…

Any 12WBT participants out there?
Hi Everyone, I've been on MFP for a while now, and overall I'm going pretty well with my weight loss, but I feel like I need some more structure and interactive motivational stuff, so I've just signed up for Michelle Bridges' 12WBT. Is anyone else out there part of this? Especially in their first round? If you are, please…

The Silly Things We Do...
I am, for some reason, unwilling to buy hand weights. For this reason, I train using shoes. If I need light hand weights, I'll go for converse sneakers. Heavy hand weights, Doc Marten boots. What silly things do you do in the name of health or fitness?

NSV: The Back-handed Compliment
I saw my mum recently, and she gushed about how well I'm looking. "Look at that! You have a whole...neck! And a CHIN!" ...Did I not before? Was it THAT bad? Haha, thanks Mum. What she was trying to say is that I look great, and she's proud of me :)

Back in the 60's!
I started trying to lose weight last Christmas, at 82kgs. I lost 6 kgs, put 4 back on, then a friend referred me to MFP. The accountability and ideas and support that this place gives me has been so helpful that now I'm down to 69.6kgs. I'M BACK IN THE 60s! The other day I had a big NSV when I looked in the mirror and…

NSV!
I weigh myself on Wii Fit scales, as it graphs everything for you and I like that, plus it's how I workout a lot of the time. A handy feature of it is that it calculates your BMI every time you weigh in, too. I lost a huge amount of weight compared to what I have recently, but also, an NSV: My BMI is now in the…

Craving Salt
Lately I've found myself craving salt... And by that I don't mean salty foods, I mean actual salt. I find that if I suck on a piece of rock salt it gets rid of the craving, but I suspect this isn't very good for me. Does anyone know of a possible cause for this salt craving? I haven't been working out much, so I don't…

Gaining after a big work-out
Yesterday I completed the 1000 Steps walk in the Dandenongs (if anyone's familiar, it's HARD) - a one hour trip up and down the side of a mountain comprised entirely of stairs. I was dying, honestly. I did everything right - I drank plenty of water before and during, I ate a muesli bar afterwards, I had peanut butter on…

NSV
I've been feeling really discouraged lately, as I can't see any differences in my body. Today, while risking feeling worse if they DIDN'T fit, I tried on a pair of old work pants which I'd had to put aside because my thighs had outgrown them. I tried them on about 2 weeks ago, and they still didn't quite fit. But today,…

Cayenne Pepper?
So I did a "Master Cleanser" yesterday, which is a drink with hot water, lemon, a natural sweetener (maple syrup or honey), and cayenne pepper. I didn't go too overboard on the pepper, but even with the amount I had, I felt good. Has anyone been doing Master Cleansers or using cayenne pepper in their cooking to aid their…

EA Active for Wii
Now, I know this sounds a bit silly. BUT it's a lot of fun, it's interactive, and it WORKS. A while ago I bought the EA Active game for Wii, and was doing about 30 mins daily. The program involves a lot of lunging, and it kills your legs - but it really works. My pants started getting really baggy around my thighs, and my…

Sore Legs
hey guys, I have sore legs in a muscle that's never been sore before and I'm having trouble figuring out if they're just workout-sore, or doing-damage sore... It's that muscle that runs up your lower leg, not the shin but no the calf. Any tips?

Not hungry!
I'm having a lot of trouble reaching my calorie goal. I've been reading a lot of here about how important it is to get as close to your calorie goal as possible, so I've been trying. But each day I peak out at around 1000 calories - I'm just not that hungry! I'm eating healthy breakfasts, usually porridge and fruit with a…

One Week Down!
I'm one week in, and I just weighed myself. Since this time last week, I have lost 1.9kg! For you Americans, that's 4.18lbs. It's not mind-boggling, but it's still a loss and a big step in the right direction. I'm surprised how much I've lost considering I haven't been doing any exercise other than walking. So, little…

Home Alone for Dinner...
I'm home alone for dinner tonight. Normally I cook for 2 people - when I'm by myself I really can't be bothered. Lunch is fine, I can be bothered with that, but dinner, no way. I live next door to a pizza shop - it's so tempting to run next door and just grab a pizza for dinner. It's cold (I'm in Australia) and I just want…

Feeling positive - real, or psychosomatic?
So, I've only been back into this weight-loss thing since Thursday (it's now Monday, so... 5 days). I've been feeling pretty down lately, and a bit hopeless about everything. However, today I feel really hopeful. I feel much lighter (emotionally) than I have in ages. Do you think it's possible that my diet is having an…

Just found this snack - low-fat low-cal hot chocolate, with 10 fresh cherries. Perfect snack! Comes to about 120 cals, depending on the hot choc and whether you make it with water or skim milk.

New Here - Need all the support I can get!
Hi guys... I'm new on here. I know I lose much more weight when I'm motivated, and I'm hoping that having some support on these forums, outside of my everyday contacts, will help me continue losing. In the past few years I've put on a lot of weight, and done a lot of yo-yoing. I went from 75kg (2005) to about 68kg (2006),…
