  • I'm half way through my weight loss journey but I've been in maintenance at this weight for almost a year. I intentionally went into maintenance because I was just burned out on focusing on losing and I had a lot and I mean a LOT of stuff going on. I've been living in a place where it's really hard to track my food and…
  • The whole "don't eat after x time" is just a technique people use to consume fewer calories... but some how it got blown up into some magical time cut off. Nothing wrong with simply saving some of your calories for a bedtime snack. I save for a bedtime snack almost every night.
  • Love this version so much better than Pat Benatar's Also Don't Give Up with Peter Gabriel.. Oh and speaking of Peter Gabriel, Solsbury hill... Though technically from the 70's it definitely has a more 80s feel...
  • THIS.. OMG sooooo much of this. Also Uncertain Smile, The The Forever Young, Alphaville Only a Lad, Oingo Boingo
  • It's not a very common procedure and many doctors who did it for a while have abandoned it in favor of VSG. I considered Plication but after researching, I decided that VSG was a much better option for me.
  • .... um.... yeah, I got nothing. My husband is pretty much awesome.
  • I'm 100% cured and completely off medication for acid reflux. I was cured BEFORE I even lost any weight. I stopped eating wheat and overall greatly reduced the cereal grains in my diet. It's AWESOME to be able to sleep in a horizontal position and not be woken up with a nose full of stomach acid in the middle of the night!…
  • I've cooked everything from scratch for years... For me the PREP is what is most time consuming. For Veggies, I wash them and then sit down and prep them while watching TV or talking on the phone with my sister.... I'll start with the fruit for the day. three apples, a large peach, a bunch of grapes, a few plums, maybe a…
  • 80% of men on dating sites are messaging and competing for the top 10% of women in terms of attractiveness... so don't be shocked when this top 10% chooses someone more attractive than you. You're a fairly average man. Slightly above average in terms of general physique average to slightly below average in terms of height.…
  • Ours is a difficult age to find someone I think. I'm 42 and most of the men I got dates with on OKC/POF were either in their 30's or 50's, and most of the oh so generous offers I received for NSA sex were from men in their 20's! My husband, who I met on OKC last year is 36 and he had noted in his profile that he was…
  • howdy just a few quick questions please : 1 ) have you ever tried a dating site? Yes. I've tried both free dating sites and paid dating sites. 2) were you pleased? OK cupid and POF were free and the best sites I used. The pay sites were not worth it. 3) would you tell someone to try one? YES. I've made the recommendation…
  • I have heard that people with fewer stretch marks will have better skin resiliency. I think there's something to it. I had friend who was 290 and didn't have any stretch marks and then she lost 150 pounds at 40 years old and she looked like she had never been fat. I on the other hand am covered in stretch marks EVERYWHERE…
  • Defensiveness is almost always part of an ED.. Even if the person is not a defensive person in other aspects of their life, they will be VERY defensive when it comes to their ED. EDs are nasty things. Even the sweetest, most honest person in the world can act defensive, manipulative and deceptive when it comes to…
  • Mayo is mostly OIL. I make it with one egg yolk and 2/3 cup of oil and a few squeezes of lemon juice and a few splashes of vinegar.. a drop of mustard and salt and pepper.
  • I have multiple inflammatory diseases that are exacerbated by wheat but I do eat a little barley on occasion without issues but who knows what would happen if I made it a regular part of my diet. I seem to do the best when I steer clear of obvious sources of wheat as much as possible and take it very light with other…
  • I've been eating a LOT of fruit lately. Peaches, plums, grapes and watermelon are all currently being harvested locally and I simply can't resist. I'm going through about 5-9 servings of fruit alone every day and only 4ish servings of veg. Yeah, it's a lot of carbs, but I can't eat wheat and refuse to buy the GF, devoid of…
  • I swap out mayo and replace with avocado.. I wind up using the same calories because I use a huge slab of avocado but avocado gives more nutrition and is TASTY so I often make the substitution. I swap out sour cream and replace with yogurt. I swap out butter for slightly less butter. saves calories this way. I make salad…
  • I've known many people who have had WLS including myself. It is really hard for me to see people with the attitude that you describes. It almost always indicates that the person will not be successful with the surgery. I had a friend who went to an all you can eat chicken place right before her bypass. Guess what? She had…
  • *drooling* Let's do a home exchange for a week. I'm 5 kilometers from the ancient city of Carthage and Mediterranean sea.
  • My experience living in South Lebanon near Qana was similar.. Really spectacularly beautiful country and gorgeous sunset views... No bomb shelters though.
  • I live in Tunis, Tunisia. I live in a northern suburb and I LOVE it because this is within walking distance: As is this.... And I get to buy my produce here: I LOVE it here!
  • this^^^I'm really heavy handed with it . I do half milk and half coffee
  • The old me would have gone home and cried.. and then not gone out for a month and gained 20 pounds. I once had a college kid throw a can of soda at me from the window of his car and insult me because of my weight. I thought I would die and I didn't say a word... I just looked down and tried not to cry as I walked home.…
  • You are a great example of someone who uses their "tool" in the right way. I feel like I could have written much of your post. I require far fewer calories than would be expected for someone of my size but an appetite that was exceptionally large. (yes it's medically verified) It's not an excuse, just a fact.. it's my…
  • Perhaps the several folks you know learned nothing, but I for one learned a LOT. I prepared for a long time for my surgery as I saved to pay for it out of pocket. I struggled for 40 years with my weight and learned a great deal about how to manage my weight through diet and exercise but in the end was always plagued by…
  • Truth. When you truly don't care, you don't get upset.... you just DON'T FREAKING CARE. It's a wonderful feeling and something I wish I had learned earlier in my life. I spent far too much of my precious time fretting over what others would think of me instead of living my life to the fullest.
  • It was when I stopped crying in my cheerios as you put it... and when I stopped caring what other people thought that I actually decided it was time to get the surgery. It's really quite freeing when you don't CARE how people will react to your personal health decision. I'm not losing weight to get accolades from people,…
  • In my kitchen I have a three burner gas cooktop and an electric refrigerator. That's it. everything is prepared by hand and cooked on a gas burner. It's a pretty good set up considering I live in what most refer to as "the third world".
  • This is incorrect. WLS patients CAN regain weight. Most will regain a portion of the weight they lost, some will regain most or all of it, but statistically speaking they keep off MORE weight over the long term than those who lost it by diet and exercise alone. If it was not more successful for the morbidly obese than diet…
