  • Surgery is not for everyone. I really had to dig deep and learn the reasons for my behaviors and WHY I got fat.Like most of us, my reasons were situational, emotional, and biological. I tackled a lot of the emotional crap. I adopted a lot of more constructive behaviors.. but in the end, the thing I couldn't fix by myself…
  • I'm much happier because I'm not in constant pain and I can now do the things that I enjoy without my weight holding me back.
  • Pomegranates! They were always too expensive to get when I was a kid. The place I'm living now grows many varieties. They're in season right now. ZOMG.. I just got four pomegranates for 1 Dinar.. that's about 60 cents for FOUR pomegranates. Plums! As a kid, I always got kind of sour red plums or mushy purple plums. This…
  • I buy Green and Blacks 85% dark chocolate. It still has a lot of calories, but I need to eat MUCH less of it to have "the full chocolate experience". I like green and blacks because it has strong chocolate flavor but considering it's 85%, it's not overly bitter. Sometimes I melt a few squares and drizzle on ripe…
  • It was my body feeling like it was being crushed under 360 pounds and not being able to enjoy activities I used to due to my aching knees and getting too tired that really made me decide to do something about it.... BUT................... It was also a real eye opener when I bought an indian style free flowing skirt at a…
  • I found that I didn't have to go "gluten free" in order to reap the benefits of avoiding obvious sources of wheat. I DON'T HAVE celiacs and my body does not react to trace amounts of gluten. I do however have a number of autoimmune issues that were either sent into remission or greatly reduced when I eliminated obvious…
  • The regular size Lean Cuisines are TINY. I have had weight loss surgery and one lean cuisine is just about the right amount of food for me... AND I'VE HAD 75% OF MY STOMACH SURGICALLY REMOVED! I can't imagine that one Lean Cuisine would keep someone with a normal sized stomach satisfied. I know that before my surgery I…
  • Rejection and verbal abuse by those who I really care about would DEMOTIVATE ME to the point that I would completely shut down. Rejection and verbal abuse from anyone else only motivates me to put them in their place.
  • Lol, they're carrots. I live in a place where most of what we have available for purchase is seasonal, locally grown produce.. some times the carrots are red, sometimes purple, sometimes yellow or even orange and sometimes there aren't any carrots available at all! Just depends on the farmer. I buy my vegetables here and…
  • put small cut vegetables when you cook rice. For extra flavor I toast the dry rice with tumeric, chili powder and cumin first. Over time use more vegetables and less rice. After the rice/vegetables are cooked, you can fry in a bit of olive oil. I currently use about twice the vegetables as I did when I took this picture. I…
  • There are other options besides Lapband and Gastric Bypass. As one who has carefully researched ALL options I would NEVER recommend lapband to anyone. Lapband is falling out of favor with bariatric surgeons for a GOOD REASON. When I went for my VSG surgery, about half the other patients there were having their lapbands…
  • kittyd- You're GOOD! I'm 236 in that picture... you might have a bright future with the Carny. - everyone else, ignore me...and guess jspanman's weight next.
  • Duodenal switch was recommended for me due to my BMI of 60 but it just felt too extreme for me. I opted for the sleeve instead and it was definitely the right choice for me. Of course DS is the right choice for some people and I think anyone who qualifies for it should learn about it and consider it. All of the different…
  • This thread is from 2013 but I'm going to answer anyway. When you weigh 360 pounds and already have sagging skin like I did.. It's NOT going to bounce back no matter how fast or slowly you lose weight.. Either way, if you want your skin to be tight, you will need plastic surgery. When you have VSG surgery 75-80% of the…
  • D'oh... I didn't even see that with the new layout.
  • I've quit artificial sweeteners before for several months-like maybe 6 or months. No affect on weight loss... no affect on cravings. I actually find that a little something sweet, even with artificial sweetener helps satisfy a craving for sweet stuff.

  • I'm 5'5" and used to be 360..At age of 41 I lost 70 pounds and got down to 290 and had VSG weight loss surgery at 290 pounds. (personal decision, there are LOTS of people on here who do it without!) I'm now sill obese at 235 but it is the lowest I've been since I was 14 years old! I enjoy being active. I like to cycle and…

  • I will NEVER EVER grow tired of ONEderland posts! Congratulations! Save a spot for me, I'll get there eventually!
  • IsopureZERO is the best I've tried. I don't like the GNC brand it tastes too strong for me. Isopure is EXPENSIVE but you can get it for as low as $45.00 a for the big tub if you look around. The flavor is good and it mixes well with just a spoon. Dutch choclate, cookies and creme and vanilla creme are all decent flavors…
  • I'd save all my calories for the game and eat a salad AND the other 1,000 calories worth of wings.
  • He balked at the idea of spending 68 cents per 25 grams of protein. He also balked at the idea of using coconut milk because it could not be had for free. So I'm guessing from his posts that he wants everything to be free.
  • AWESOME! Breaking out of the 300's was a huge milestone for me and one that I had at one time convinced myself I'd never reach! Congratulations on your success!
  • They're not terribly accurate to determine your actual BF%, but they are directionally accurate. You need to take the measurement at the same time and under the same conditions (empty stomach empty bladder, time of day, etc). So it's not a great tool to tell you your exact BF%, but it will be able to tell you if you are…
