They're Sketchers. Nothing special. They're supposedly designed for running. I bought them because they're light and breathable for work and haven't bought proper trainers yet because I'm not sure what to buy.

Extra info I forgot to add: my right foot is very flat. My left one has an arch. I'm wondering if that has anything to do with it?

Hm. Could that affect the back of my leg? It wouldn't be out of the realm of possibility for me to have that, I haven't been at the gym very long but I am obese so all the weight could have caused it.

In the past when I've tried to lose weight (and did) I used this site/app to count my calories. I would allow myself a weekly "cheat" day where I would eat whatever I wanted. I wouldn't really say that I'm stressed or crunched for time-we're having a very small, unofficial ceremony in Ireland so there's very little planning involved outside of hotel and airfare-but I'm using it as that kick in the pants I've been needing anyway! :)
