You can do it; take your first step today.

My blood sugar/insulin levels are fine (or so says my doc when I went in a month ago to get it checked). Do you ladies think that Insolitol is something I should start using, or is it really only for folks with insulin issues? And then if "yes, I should try it", then I'll probably have a follow-up 300 questions. Hehe.

52. I exercise pretty much every day (cardio: 30-90 minutes), but still overweight. Unsure if that kind of information helps you with your unofficial research or not.

Officially on Wednesdays, but I also check on Sundays to see where I'm headed that week. After reading all of the comments in this thread, I'm considering weighing myself every morning so that I've got a better understanding of all of the fluctuations (though worry it might drive me crazy?)

TOO TRUE. Mine have already been mentioned. Fruit/veggies are more calories than I thought. One measured tablespoon of peanut butter is larger than I thought (but then the catch is that I can't keep dipping in "for a teeny tiny bit more"). Meat...what I thought was "3 oz" of a meat was more like 1ish... WOAH.

This link should do it: http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/group/3070-p-c-o-sis

Well, I've only ever been one gender. So I don't really have anything to compare it to, you know? You'd have to have a heck of an experiment to officially see what happens, and personally I don't have time to orchestrate that. Whether it's muscle and/or hormones and/or emotions, I really don't care. I think what's…

^^ Exactly. (And also agreeing with the folks saying to save calories for the evening.) You should not be starving by the end, or even ever, of your day. I wanted to lose weight quickly so I was only consuming 1200 calories a day - I was absolutely miserable. I've since bumped up my calories a bit, and I'm much happier…

I sprained my ankle two years ago. It was so bad that I was on crutches for 2 months, and had to go to physio to learn how to walk again. Stir crazy is going to happen. Frustration is going to happen. But, if you watch/count your calories, you'll be fine. (I actually lost weight because I couldn't buy food as easily...Heh)

^Yuuuup. This guy explains it much better than I ever could: http://www.aworkoutroutine.com/how-to-build-muscle-and-lose-fat/

My coats and jackets barely fit me anymore...in a bad way. After "trying" for months, I went to my doctor to see if maybe I had a medical issue holding me back. Nope! (Well, I have PCOS but I already knew about it.) Kicked me into gear when I realised that I just wasn't doing it properly. And now on top of that I've just…

Same, but with men. I once had a friend upset because "everyone hits on me but not her" and I listed off the guys who have hit on me. She stopped crying, and said "thanks for making me feel better! It DOES suck to be you!" and skipped away happily. Good times.

Sorry, yes, I should have clarified that I was using a Sedentary Lifestyle as an example. The numbers will change based on how you live. Regardless, I agree that you can also use MFP's recommendations. Honestly, just do whatever is best for you. I was simply trying to explain some of the general math behind it all.…

Let's see if this makes more sense... * Your BMR is 1335 calories (actually it's 1343, but close enough). [Your BMR "Basic Metabolic Rate" is the minimum amount of calories you need per day to weigh the same, assuming you just laid in bed all day and did nothing.] * If you lived a sedentary lifestyle (getting out of bed…

I wrote this long thing then realised I had a mistake in the math but I can't delete this post, soooo just ignore this for now.

^^ This. You don't need to drop it all at once. And you need at least a certain amount of calories to...function properly. I'm also 5'3, and while we're on the "short" end, there is no need for us to drop below that 1200 mark...ever. Just lose weight naturally. This is an amazing website with a ton of information…

I have a piece of Lindt dark chocolate (I believe 75%). The ones I get are pre-wrapped and only 30 calories each. Though I hate the garbage that it makes because of all the wrappers, it's nice to have the wrappers staring me in the face if I eat a bunch. Mine are only 30 calories. And dark chocolate. I fit one in every…

Most of these have been mentioned already, but just in case:* You're human; don't beat yourself up over this. Get up and keep going. * Try fitting some into your daily calories. Ex: I'm fitting a piece of dark chocolate and one Twizzler in every day, because they keep me sane and from "splurging" on either. * Pick your…

It sort of depends on my mood that day, but the amount of time I do (30 minutes) tends to be roughly the amount of calories that I want to burn anyway (roughly 300). Just do what is right for you.
-
I think that it depends on you and your personality, but what I might do if I were in that situation... If you're really that hungry and really can't go back to your amount of daily calories without feeling like you're about to starve to death, maybe start off with a slightly higher amount of calories and keep reducing it…

Oh, my, goodness, gracious. I am so glad that I stumbled upon your post and therefore that article. What a fantastic read; thank you!

In Texas...? :\ Calisthenics!: push-ups (and any alterations to them), sit-ups, planks, leg lifts, calf raises, jumping jacks, squats, lunges, burpees... & as others have mentioned, that shovel!

Loving the replies! Re: Carbs/Macros = I've got mine set to (I believe) 25% carbs, 40% protein, and 35% fat. Sometimes I go a tiny bit over the carbs, but I don't think that's so crazy since it's already only at 25%! Inositol? = What does it do? Do I need a prescription? Can anyone vouch for it doing...anything? Hahaha. I…

I'm always down for more friends! People are welcome to add me. (Or I can add you if you're having App issues)

I'm trying to lose 50, so you're all welcome to add me for some support!

You do you best. If this makes you happy, do it! I love spreadsheets, and I've got a hand-written 'spreadsheet' of my weekly weigh-ins and measurements. I won't/can't judge!

Oh, me! Pick me! 24. Live alone. Work full-time at a desk job. Starting at 170, goal is 120 (or thereabouts). You're welcome to add me! [Or anybody else who is in the same boats, should they want to.]

New to the group, and from Ottawa (Ontario)! Was diagnosed a few years ago, but didn't really think much of it at the time. Oops. Anyone is welcome to add me if they'd like. I'm on fairly regularly and enjoy having the social reason for logging in every day.

Well, I'm single. And it's a long weekend for me, so I'm going home to see my family. (Not so romantic; but can't be disappointed like I have for the past few V-days!)

I would really like to put that into a beautiful frame, and hang it in my bedroom (or kitchen...Maybe kitchen makes more sense!). Thank you for writing this and sharing it. Very motivational!
