Hi everyone, I'm jumping in a bit late but I'm so proud of the weight loss that you folks are already recording in just a week! Congratulations and keep going!!! My name's Bev and I’m not doing any special diet, though I have a few food allergies and am also trying to keep my carb intake low. My ultimate goal is to lose…

Thanks! And thank you ever so much for the links - I'm going to happily nerd away as I read them.

The DASH "diet" has been around quite a long time, at least here in Canada. As others have said, it's essentially a recommended way of eating that follows the food guidelines, and though everyone should follow it, it's a diet that people with high blood pressure should be following in order to naturally reduce it. It'd…

That's one of the things I'm most looking forward to...!

Just a head's up: a lot of foods in the MFP system don't have Potassium listed, so although you may be consuming enough Potassium, it 'looks' as if you don't. This is apparently because a lot (or all?) of food labels (in the USA) don't list Potassium, so therefore people say it's 0, since nobody actually has a clue. (Here…

Can I just say:* What an amazing transformation! That's textbook dedication right there. * I'm so glad you're doing this AMA. * I'm dumbfounded and amazed that you are still answering questions nearly a full year later. * I'm sorry that I don't have an actual question. I know what to do, I just...have to do it and not lose…

I love "Simply Protein". They're equal parts protein and carb, but then only 1g of sugar and 5-10g of fibre. So much yum. ...They might, however, be a Canadian thing. I don't know!

I'm so sorry that your friends have been that way; that's not supportive of them at all. I think that getting it looked at is definitely the right move. You'll either find out that you have it (and then you can edit your life accordingly) or you'll find out that you don't (and I know this will sound strange, but it will…

Hi! I'm quite active on MFP and love to motivate my MFP friends. You're welcome to add me if you'd like!

That was such an inspiring list! I think I'll make one at every 10lbs milestone that I face.

I want to hug all of you. I thought I was a freak of nature who sucked at losing weight. <3

^ That haunts me. Everyone assumes that I'm lazy and eat garbage, when in fact I count calories, weigh my food, exercise 30-90 minutes every day... My weight/inches are doing anything but "melting" or "falling" off. People need to slow down with the judging.
