55 year, 5'6', 150 When I hit 50ish everything changed for me. Hormones messed up my metabolism and I started gaining where I have never had to be too careful. Now at 55, things are settling out (still have crazy hot flashes) and have been able to lose the 10 lbs that snuck on. I eat very little 1000-1200 and work out, but…

Try slowing down when you eat, put your fork down between bites, etc. It takes a few minutes before your stomach sends the full signal to your brain and we often overeat in that moment. The water is good, so is flavoured tea. Eat food that is work, like picking the grapes off the stem one at a time, or cutting your apple…

Outside is sooooo much better than treadmill. You burn more calories because your body is responding to uneven ground, up and down curbs, hills, wind etc. Also, way less boring. I like to look at peoples gardens, in shop windows, general scenery. Sometimes you can push yourself by using landmarks...ie. run faster for 1…

Get another waterbottle. ( even 2 diposable ones)Half fill it with water, freeze. Before you leave, top up with water. Wrap in a small towel. Now you have one for the first half, and one that will be thawed 2-3 hours later. If you drink at least 1 bottle before you go, the 2 bottles during the day and 2 when you get home,…

Wow, your kids are so young! If your child is only 4 months, don't be discouraged. Your body is still hormonally changing after the baby. Give yourself a pat on the back for starting to do something for yourself. Getting enough rest is really important, too. So get out the stroller and get outside!!

Wow! You are a new Mom. Give your poor body some time to adjust. Your hormones are still all over the place. Your whole chemical make-up is still shifting. Focus on healthy choices, getting enough rest, getting some activity and enjoying your new addition. The rest will come. It is great that you do activities with you…

For your sake and your children's sake, start by being more active with them!! Include your kids, they can be great motivators. Walk with them to the park, then don't sit on the bench while they play.. Play with them. Throw a ball, run, jump, do chin ups on the monkey bars.....then it is not an exercise program, but fun!…

It is good to hear you say you feel more energized and are noticing your clothes feel different. Getting in -shape, by working your heart and muscles is a good goal for someone your age and something you should continue FOR LIFE!!! The weight loss is a related, but separate thing. As has been stated, energy in must be less…

What has helped me is to recognize that weight will fluctuate...but I have an "Oh-Oh" point, a weight that I absolutely won't go over. If I hit Oh-Oh, I cut back, be super aware etc. Day to day, you need to eat less than you think. Portions are the killer. Restaurants load up your plates and put out unlimited bread etc,.…

First of all, good for you for the work done so far. You may want to put some challenge in your running by adding speed sections, where you pick up the pace for 1-2 minutes, then return to regular pace until recovery, then again. Also, adding hills really worked for me. I would find a challenging hill and put it in the…

It sounds like you are your own worst enemy. Believe in yourself as a person, with all your good qualities that have nothing to do with the outside, but rather how great you are on the inside. You need to love yourself, then you will want to do something good for your body and mind. Think healthy, not skinny. You may never…
