  • I weigh everyday, I find it keeps me motivated to keep going.
  • i have noticed that when i work i have more consistent weight loss and on my days off it slows down. It is curious to me but i do walk all day at my job and dont do much sitting.
  • the funny thing about bone structure calculations is that none of them are 100% accurate. I always thought i had a large bone structure because i was a moderate height and looked big. It was'nt until i lost weight and found out that my bone structure was not large but medium, all of the perceived largeness was from layers…
  • i have had the unique perspective of losing all of weight twice, first on phentermine, then without it. I found that i lost weight at the same rate either way. I can say that phentermine did make me excessively thirsty and did seem to give me energy at first but after a month of usage that effect diminished. However, once…
  • since joining mfp i have only lost 7 lbs but since i started my weight loss journey i have lost 102 lbs.
  • i try to pick nutrient dense foods that have a large serving and low calories. My two favorites are cabbage and broccoli. Cabbage is only 100 calories for a half a head, and if you have ever cooked half a cabbage you know how much that is, steamed broccoli is similar with 100 calories for about 3 bunches. Both fill up a…
  • i eat lots of fiber, i have gotten up that high before, last night my dessert alone was 48g fiber!
  • i have probably posted this a hundred times, but try www.hungrygirl.com She has thousands of recipes for junk foods that have had a healthy makeover but still taste great, go to the chew the right thing link and type in your favorite food, like buffalo wings, she actually has three recipes for that, enjoy!
  • just curious but why would we want to be like cavemen, wasnt their life expectancy like in the 30's?
  • i like to take 2 sugar free jellos, one strawberry and one orange, mix with 1 cup fresh berries (strawberries, blackberries, and blueberries together are my favorite, and some fat free reddi whip, its under 100 calories and a huge dessert! plus loads of antioxidants and vitamin c from the fruit!
  • for all of you that are struggling with this now i can tell you it does happen and quite often. I was stuck at 207 for almost a month and eating 1200 calories and exercising vigorously 5 days a week. I was at the end of my rope and ready to throw in the towel until i read that i should eat a little more and eat some of my…

  • i am all about being full, so this meal is huge and filling for just 300 calories! 1/2 head of cabbage (about 375 gm) - 80 calories 1 slice center cut bacon - 35 calories 1/4 onion - 15 calories 1/2 cup egg beaters - 60 calories fry bacon in pan and crumble, add onion and cabbage and cook until mostly tender, add egg…
  • i use lite salt for water retention, add fiber one to yogurt or pudding to make it crunchy and filling, greek yogurt instead of sour cream, whole grain pitas instead of tortillas, and i love using butternut squash instead of potatoes for awesome oven fries! and reduced sugar ketchup! yum

  • Don't quit, health is a lifelong pursuit, just try to make it positive, like... you just loaded your body with a superdose of antioxidants and you will burn off the sugar they came with.
  • i agree with you about most of your post. I know personally when i make a post or respond i dont try to have a "do it my way or fail attitude" i just try to say this is what worked for me, maybe it will for you. I know i am guilty of running to the boards with a concern, but i find that i get a wide variety of information.…
  • its hard to not focus on the scale but it really isnt important. You have to look at healthy eating as a lifestyle not as a reachable goal. I know goals are important but overall you are doing a great thing for your long term health by eating right. I have to agree that increasing protein and adding strength training will…
  • Well i dont think it is a myth as i have been following a strict diet of 1200 calories for over a year, sure it helped me lose weight but i was getting lots of loose skin and hated it, then all of the sudden after losing 93 lbs my weight came to a dead halt. I was stuck at 207 and day after day, week after week despite my…
  • its a great feeling to see your partner want to make a change for themselves. I have been on my weight loss journey for years and recently my guy started doing a little light cardio on the treadmill. He is also going to stop smoking in june! super excited. Who wants to be healthy alone?
  • well i have to agree that men obviously have no concept of size, i mean they think 6 inches is twelve, and you give them an inch and they take a mile, how could he really see what fat is or not? You are doing great and the only opinion that really matters is your own.

  • i think anything is a meal or a snack relative to the calories as you have posted. To me a snack is usually around 150-180 calories and a meal is 200-600 calories. I have breakfast at about 400 calories, snack 1 at about 180 calories, lunch about 300 calories, dinner about 500 calories and snack 2 about 150 calories. Works…
  • eating 300 - 750 calories a day, even net calories is not healthy, its pretty much anorexia, i say this with love and compassion, if this is all you are actually eating you are slowly starving yourself and this will have negative health results.
  • hungrygirl rocks!!! i have personally used her advice and recipes for my own weight loss, over 95 lbs! She is a lifesaver and truly a genius, who would have though to used fiber one cereal to oven fry chicken or onion rings? Anyway, if you havent been there yet, stop and go right now!
  • love greek yogurt as a high protein snack! in the mood for sweet ad vanilla extract, truvia and cinnamon to dip apple in, for salty try yogurt with ranch dressing powdered mix, (about 2 tsp) for dipping veggies, 1/2 cup has 13 g protein, great for hypoglycemia, i know personally.
  • hungrygirl.com has a printable, free, shopping list that contains ingredients for all of her recipes, if you havent been here yet, go now!
  • love ceviche, bump!
  • dinner is always my biggest but not always the most calories, i eat lots of veggies so sometime 4 cups of broccoli is loads of food and i pair it with a lean protein but i eat and equal amount for breakfast calorie wise but the food itself is smaller.
  • i eat several meals a day and personally do not believe anything is a snack, and everything is a meal. A typical day consists of a 400 calorie breakfast, 150 calories second meal about 3 hours later, 350 calories meal, 400 calories meal, 200 calorie meal. i try to have veggies or fruit with each meal, and a good dose of…
  • i have started eating back some of my exercise calories and it has helped me to break a plateau! i know we are kind of hard wired to not eat those back but it does help and you are giving your body something to build muscle with! more muscle=more fat loss, hope this helps.
