  • Can I join the club, please? I am 35yo mum of 2 boys. In my old days, Eastern Europe, the term of ADHD did not exist. I just felt that I was slightly different from others, but because I managed to be fairly successful and well masked my differences, it did not bother me too much. I would say that I learned to fit in and…
  • I keep doing this (losing and gaining). My best tip is if you really cannot stop eating, try choosing low carb options, i.e. meat, fish, eggs, cheese, cottage cheese, soya products. You may still eat a lot in the beginning but your cravings should subside and you should feel more satiated. They are less addictive than…
  • I have one too.. I was pregnant with my 2nd baby at the time, only 3 months pregnant so it did not show yet! My 5yo niece asked my sister while in my presence “Why is she so fat?” My sister said she is expecting a baby… This was true but we both knew I was just fat! On a positive note, my colleagues did not know I was…
  • You sound like it was "kind of" easy to lose all these pounds, though I am sure it wasn't. So bloody well done!!
  • I have just sat down after my daily routine (work, kids, supper, bedtime) and I cannot thank you all enough for your support. Lots of great words are said... lots of it I already know.. I only call it a diet because it is "a way of eating"... I am not too restrictive with what I eat because I know otherwise I will not…
  • Thanks all. I feel like I know it all and I try my best but after few weeks of fresh start I always lose interest and moreover feel worn out because of the effort. When I am on diet (=counting calories), every minute of it is tense as I try to harness my impulses, making myself too anxious waiting for another evening – yet…
  • I don't know. I have the knowledge, but I don't stick to it. I do know though I have impulse control issues. One split of second, I have eaten something which I shouldn't, and the moment has passed and my diet is ruined. I don't feel it is a big enough issue to see a councellor (and it cost money which I don't have) but it…
  • My best “tools” when I manage to stick with them are: 85-90% chocolate – the bitterness limits to a small piece Frozen berries – I eat it frozen so the process is slow A cup of cocoa drink with unsweetened cocoa powder, with a sweetener and 50mil of milk it is only about 50 calories
  • I agree that everyone battles their battles in their own time. You have no idea how hard I try to lose weight. My story is that I count my calories carefully most of the days but I lose it after 8pm and spoil the whole day of successful counting. Emotional issues behind the “laziness” is a big problem. I feel defeated and…
  • I don't weigh myself anymore because I find myself totally overwhelmed if the scale is moving down and I am approaching the all-important-number - I get so anxious "what if I don't succeed" that it always leads to bingeing. So my scale is now hidden. The clothes tell the tale.
  • I have been unsuccessful on calorie counting diet for years. I would have huge cravings, no willpower and massive binge days and would start from scratch every single morning. By chance, I looked into low carbing few months ago, and after browsing internet for weeks I came to conclusion that low-carb and high-fat makes the…
  • It is very hard to change your ways if eating lots of carbs. The willpower is useless when you have addiction. It is easier to overcome addiction for food gradually, by replacing snacks by healthier snacks, and then perhaps droping it alltogether.
  • I recognize myself in here. I undid my 10lbs loss in the last 2 months and I am even to embarrassed to registered it on MFP. I just posted here yesterday saying that I had 6 litres of drinks + food by the noon and still felt so “hungry”. I managed not to binge yesterday, and today I already feel stronger. I think that…
  • I have lost weight in the past by counting calories, but struggling to stay on track for long term for the last 5 years… and I always undo the good work during my binges. SO.. now I decided it was time to change something and after a long research decided to go low(ish) carb +calorie counting. It must be carbs that make my…
  • I am amazed by all answers. I am FT working mum with two boys, 5yo and 2yo, but I will be honest and say that I am fairly lazy and not very busy. I get up at 7, leave house at 8, come back at 5:30, light dinner-kids time-playtime-bath-bed until 8, a bit of housework until 9 and "me time" and TV until 10:30 when I go to…
  • Amazing, you should put it into Success stories, you have done so well. And yes it is a great reminder of the weight we carry with ourselves.
  • The more I read, it sounds like a horrible diet. Who wants to eat proteins all life long, have a kidney failure, and, I hear from my friends, have a bad mouth breath?
  • May be a silly question, but doesn't it encourage to eat whatever amounts of allowed food? Doesn't it teach to overeat so you never eat hungry? That's why I am not on Dukan. I am trying to learn to eat sensibly and drop binge eating.
  • Rubbing inside thighs Being the fattest at work Looking awful in the pictures Visiting my home county where I am always afraid to meet long-unseen relatives and friends, who will think how fat I have become
  • I had many breaking points. In fact I have been “on diet” for the last 5 years, and despite of that I have not lost weight, because either I yo-yoed, or lost commitment. I have seen my friends losing a significant amount of weight over this time, and I have not lost anything – felt so bad. Not exactly a breaking point, but…
  • So inspirational!!! I cannot wait to shorten my hair after I reach my goal!
  • Amazing pictures of all of you! Now I know why I failed my diet so many times – I get bored of the food I eat because I avoid complex food due to difficult calorie counting. Not anymore! (off to skinytaste website for the beginning)
  • bumping for myself
  • I have invented my own one this week, and this is what I made for lunch today (quantities are accidental): 400g boiled Brussels sprouts 30g grated parmensan cheese 160g silken tofu 2 tsp of soy sauce Total kcal: 397. Loaded with protein and vegetarian. It is in my diary.
  • Ah, well, I will reveal the dress: http://direct.asda.com/george/womens/dresses/textured-formal-dress/G004177426,default,pd.html Nothing fancy just a simple practical dress (stretchy jersey material, by the way, not fitted). Just this one last time I will keep the dress (BIG promise to myself). I’d better ditch those…
  • On another note, I will not be wearing most of my 18 size dresses either. I visited my employer’s office abroad last year. I met the manager of that office for the first time. He asked me “are you pregnant?” No, I wasn’t! I was just wearing one of these dresses which has high elasticated waist. Anyway, I haven’t worn that…
  • Ok alright getting your point! Need to return the dress. Will stop buying those 1-size-too-small-clothes. I needed this kick to my *kitten*. Thanks guys.
  • Hm.... The dress is so beautiful that I really really don't want to give up. I am getting to the point where I don't want to be buying the big clothes, and the ones of size 18 getting really old and worn, and instead of buying what I need at the moment I motivate myself with those beautiful tiny clothes... I do need to…
