Me too! I haven't done a purposeful cut or even a bulk yet (well, I did an accidental bulk after my thyroidectomy), but I follow the posts and group closely. I've always eaten over 2000 cals a day and have maintained a large weight loss so I love the whole philosophy behind the group. And am about to return to heavy…

You're quite brave for doing the AI Protocol ;) They'd have to check me into rehab for that one! Did you find that the joint pain and a wonky thyroid came together or did you have one before the other? I'm asking because my main reason for choosing Whole30 was to see if any foods might be interferring with my meds and…

I'm not entirely certain I could go all the way Paleo. I love craft beer WAY too much. I can see myself going grain free tho. I can't say I feel any better on Whole30, because I wasn't eating poorly before. It was really easy to give up pretzels and toast tho. I've got two weeks left and will be getting another thyroid…

I'm only on Day 13 of the Whole30, but so far it's going really well. Much easier than I anticipated. I didn't have to give up too much to take the plunge, only a handful of food items, but I did have to go cold turkey on snacking. And I think it's working out for me. Plus, despite the added fat from the daily avocados and…

I started a Whole30 about 12 days ago and am pretty close to the percentages you're aiming for. I've halved my carbs and doubled my fat by adding avocados, guacamole, olives, ghee, and almond butter to my diet on a daily basis. And somehow I'm eating about 300 fewer cals a day than I was before. -Cynthia

I shoot for 35 grams of fiber a day and thought I was going to miss that when I started the Whole30 since beans are not included in the plan. Surprisingly tho, I'm still averaging between 35 and 45 a day. I probably wasn't eating as many grains as I thought I was.

Hopefully you've got a doctor who is willing to treat you based more upon how you feel as opposed to what the blood panel indicates. Just make sure to sell him/her on how fantastic you feel. I would think as long as your TSH is not low enough to make you hyper, you should be good. I do not convert well, so my T3s are…

In! Thanks for doing this!

So happy for you!! What fantastic news!

Thought I might piggyback here and see if anyone could help me figure things out. I had my thyroid gland removed last June. While my recovery from the surgery was swift, I’ve experienced a few physiological changes I’m not thrilled with. Specifically, I have a lower resting heart rate and a lower max heart rate. My resting…

Took me forever to remember the name of the test (I also recommend never getting a TT at the same time you're entering menopause), but it's called AFIRMA and you can read about it here http://www.veracyte.com/afirma/

Had a TT last June due to "maybe cancer." Apparently my gland was covered by a gazillion nodules. The ones that were large enough to be biopsied all came back "indeterminate". The surgeon said it was "crunchy" when she removed it. Recovery was a breeze, despite the fact that they let me go hypo for about 8 months. I have…

Thanks, but that success came long before a BodyMedia! I've been crunching calorie numbers for more than a decade, and now that I'm entering menopause and had my thyroid gland removed last summer, numbers that used to work no longer do. So I thought the BodyMedia might help me analyze better, but the numbers just never…

Have you had your levels tested? If you're still low despite supplements, you might try adding a magnesium supplement to the mix. The two sort of go together in terms of being able to absorb D.
-
Nope. I log it all. The good, the bad, and the craft beer!

Because you can sync a Fitbit with MFP, you can enter your exercise numbers from your HRM on this site. Then your input overrides the Fitibt info. I log all of my exercise here, esp cycling and circuit training and find that it ends up giving a pretty close "guesstimate" at the end of the day.
-
I've had a Fitbit for over a year and have been wearing a BodyMedia for a few months. The total daily numbers they both give me are wildly different. The BodyMedia is much more generous than the Fitbit to the tune of about 300 calories a day. Yet it measures nearly 1000 steps less than the Fitbit which you calibrate…

It's the only hangover cure I know of!!

Long before there was an MFP or a Fat2Fit, this was how I was eating. For over ten years I've logged and have averaged around 2300 calories in every day and successfully lost and kept off over 100 pounds. I'm not a fan of dieting and I'd never heard of eating exercise calories until I arrived here about a year ago. But I…

I love my Fitbit mostly because it lets me know how much of my day is sedentary, lightly active, very active, etc so I can know what's working for me in terms of diet and what isn't. And the new sync with MFP is great. However, as it's a fancy pedometer, it's not designed to be used while cycling. The new sync method means…

Hi Illinois peeps! I'm from Chicago, Hyde Park to be more specific. Good to see so many of us out here! -Cynthia

I don't eat out often, but when I do, I try to plan my day out ahead of time. If I'm eating out, I get lots of exercise in and I always research menus beforehand. You can still go out and enjoy yourself, it just takes a little planning and a little will to show your friends how committed you are--so they don't purposely…

We declawed our first cat because I didn't know any better and would never in a million years do it again. He's long gone, but I still feel the guilt. He might have seemed fine afterward, but you couldn't touch his paws ever again without him pulling back in pain. With the two cats we have now, we just make sure we trim…

Oh. Where to begin? Our 2 year old GSD/Golden mix is named Dolemite (aka The Canine Tornado). But also goes by: Jones (his last name--because what else goes with Dolemite?), Do, Dolee, Dolee Do, Jonesey, Muttley, Puppers, Pupperty Poo, Pup Pup, Stinky LaRue (borrowed from the last dog), Poopers, Poopenstein, Mr Pee Pee,…

I'm not a vegetarian, but do participate in the Meatless Monday campaign. The website has LOTS of great recipes and we're getting ready to pull the crock pot out for this one:: http://www.meatlessmonday.com/three-bean-cassoulet/

I read over and over again that that's the general "rule" but of course it will vary according to the individual. I lost over 124 between the ages of 39 and 46 and even kept all but 20 off. But it gets more difficult every year and I'm starting to gain even. My doctor recently told me I needed to eat a third less and…

The DH (6'1" and about 182) went last weekend, wore his HRM and burned around 1700 in 4 hours. There's lots of walking in 18 holes!
