  • I think this is one of those things where you just have to make yourself start. Just be stubborn and call up all of your inner strength and just log your food. Whatever it is. In my experience once I do that part, it gets easier. Everything else start to happen. You lose the first few pounds and start to believe you can do…
  • Thanks for the tip here. I never thought to look for lower calorie pasta. I tried the wheat a long time ago and when I realized it was higher in calories and not nearly as good I just switched back. I'll have to try this. That said, I love pasta too. Have it at least once a Week. More if my hubby's not home for dinner.…
  • I have PCOS. After being diagnosed then told I didn't have it etc a dr finally told me that the only way to truly know is an ultrasound to see if you have cycstic ovaries. 12 or more areas of whatever makes it qualify for that. So I guess your hormones could test one way or the other depending on the time of month and a…
  • Thanks! Hopefully it will be good for me. I'm already on a BP med too. So lowering wouldn't be a bad thing for me (as long as I watch it while on both of course). I had such a good start going with everything I hate to lose momentum. But I am so terribly out of shape that I might not even notice if it's holding me back at…
  • Thanks! I'll try that. The weird beats are literally driving me crazy. I'm hoping I can use them long enough to get myself back in shape and hopefully come back off of them. I'll try your method of calculating it. I know overall it probably doesn't matter no more than I do but I really like to see the data and I'm hoping…
  • I usually eat part of mine but not always. I set my goal at 1 lb a week even though I have enough to lose to warrant a 2 lb rate. So I can eat them if I'm hungry or leave them and I will just have a larger but still safe deficit for the day/week. It just motivates me to earn more calories by exercising so it works for me.…
  • I understand your fear, I really do. But it's going to be such a gradual change that's it's not the scary thing you are seeing in your head I don't think. One day at a time. That's all you have to. Just pay attention to all of the good changes and embrace it. Exercise and get stronger and you'll probably start to…
  • Sounds about right. I'm at 2548 right now at just over 10,000 steps and I weight around 223 still. Part of that was logged as running so I think it's normally slightly less. Sounds right to me. If that helps at all....
  • Wow, awesome job! That was my starting weight exactly too. This was motivating. You look great!
  • I lost 50 pounds here a few years ago. It's easy once you get started. I'm here again trying to lose more than 50 after having a baby since the last loss. I'm pushing 40 pretty hard myself also but I'm not having issues losing yet. I lost 14 pounds last month. Good enough for me. I log everything and my diary is open to…
  • I do this sometimes too! The Italian herb version is yummy. put a few slices of pepperoni on it and its pretty good. Mostly i just save for it and have real pizza. But this is pretty good too!
  • Fitbit is already logging the steps for you as exercise. That's why your calories change. Why would you want / need to do this separately? I don't understand. Doesn't seem to be any benefit from doing so? You could log it as walking but then you would have to use the data from fitbit to make the entry so it would end up…
  • I personally set mine at 1. But I plan to actually lose faster (and have been) I just leave some calories open. But if I'm hungry I eat them knowing I will lose at least one a week without feeling deprived. But that's just me.
  • Sometimes you can make the things you like better for you also. You don't have to change everything. Along the way you might find new foods you liked and didn't know about it.
  • Kind of in the same place. I lost 50 here in 2012, had a baby in late 2013 and just started all over again. I'll send a request!
  • Just Keep at it. It will fall back off. Water/sodium, haven't pooped, TOM. A lot of things at play there. I gained 2 pounds yesterday and I didn't even eat out. I know I didn't exceed calories without a doubt. Just have to wait it out although I know it's a little disappointing. I use an app called happy scale. It tracks…
  • I'll be 40 in October as well OP. I have no plans on giving up and I still have like 85 pounds to get rid of. I'm sure it will be worth it!!! Add me if you want!
  • That's awesome! I can't wait to come off my BP meds. (Hopefully)
  • True. That's what I was trying to say I think. I'm bad at debate of any type haha. I mean maybe I don't understand it. But Spaghetti is my favorite food. I like it with just tomato sauce and pasta so it not that bad in normal portions. Last night I had some. But i weighed my noodles and sauce and knew what I was eating and…
  • I went to OG last week at lunch for a coworkers birthday. I had to look it up first. I had the spaghetti lunch bowl because it wasn't bad at all and of course factored in a breadstick and some salad. Still was a little higher than my normal lunch but doable. But I HAVE to plan ahead or I would be impulsive under the…
  • Well I don't know this is true for everyone either. And I understand avoiding those things in the beginning. But I would hope you could expect to learn along the way and figure out a healthy way to control portions and still have a little. But maybe I am underestimating the power food has over someone who binges. My weight…
  • I don't disagree with that. I said the same thing about cheese and ranch too. Some things are not worth it and that's great but if in one breath you say its your favorite thing ever and in the next say you can never have it again... that's sad. I pretty much gave up sweet tea. And I live in the south where it's a staple.…
  • I wasn't necessarily pointing that at you. And I said nothing of "food groups" either. I'm just saying in general some people make this harder than it has to be.
  • This post makes me sad actually. There is a lot of deprivation going on. I understand not eating a whole pizza or a whole bag or dozen of something anymore. But really. If I want an Oreo bad enough, i will have an Oreo. I will have pizza, and ice cream and pasta. I will just measure it and be aware of it. Not a big deal. I…
  • I have a 100 lb goal. But that would put me pretty small so I'm sure it will take me longer than a year and I'm really not in a hurry. It's more important to me for it to work and last. But I do so understand wanting it to happen fast. I keep my diary open and wouldn't mind more friends if you all need some. I just started…
  • You can add me. I eat whatever fits. So don't expect anything fancy, :)
  • And You're not a failure. This is your journey, you do it how you want and it will be fine! At least you are doing it. Slow changes are easier sometimes than the big ones all at once.
  • I have probably close to 100 to use and I have mine set to 1 a week. Knowing that I can leave more out there and it not be terrible but if I don't I will still lose a pound. Might not be fast but it's easier for me to sustain this way and so far I've been at 2 lbs a week anyway without the pressure to do so.
  • What she said. It's different for everyone but medication can make a world of difference if you need it. Please don't be afraid of that. Good Luck! I've been there and at times still struggle with it. Just be aware of yourself and don't let it get too bad without telling someone!
