  • I totally get this, and go through it with food as well as years ago when I gave up smoking. I love to read, but can easily hold a book with one hand and chow, so that solves nothing. The only thing that helps is keeping my hands busy - handcrafts, deadheading flowers in the garden, washing dishes, writing on keyboard or…
  • I agree with much above plus -- don't stretch cold muscles, but a gentle stretch between the walking part and the jogging part may help -- get fitted for good running shoes at a pro running store if possible -- start slower, run a minute walk a minute and do that 5 times instead of forcing 5 continuous minutes, keep that…
  • I have. Advice won't help you because it's all there in your words. Counseling could help though; go!
  • "Our greatest glory is, not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall." - Oliver Goldsmith My habit of logging here is working as well in maintenance as it did while losing. Wishing everyone a god round! Round 42 GOAL = Log every day. Get 5 cardio workouts. Get 5 mini strength workouts. 6/7 - 126.4 - whoosh of -2…
  • 61 here, in maintenance only 3 months and determined not to yoyo again. @richandmarieb when I get knee pain from running I am always afraid I will regain, so I understand. Being careful about eating for 2-4 days while resting the injury (ice, massage, extra and gentle stretching, biofreeze, ibuprofen are my protocols) is a…
  • Ooh and he found some pretty running singlets online and they came yesterday and they look nice, so that helped LOL
  • I went out for a run yesterday evening, in the wind, and it was really hard but I set myself up so that I ran to the meeting point, he drove there, we ran, we drove home. That little bit of goal was enough to get me going. It was the best run I'd had in a couple of weeks in spite of the wind. Thanks for the insight above!

  • Saute in tiny oil, veggies like carrot, onion, precooked potato and sweet potato cubes, peppers like pasilla or bell. Add a bunch of cooked rice, then a bit of canned chipotle pepper in adobo sauce or other zippy spice. Greens underneath, an egg on top... dinner. Also, rice pudding for me too please! Look up chard and rice…
  • Your progress is great, you look lovely and that dress is supercute. Hug yourself for reaching out here to get the right kind of feedback!
  • Got a short run Sunday and a 3.75 mile windy one today, which felt just great! 2.35 miles to black rider.
  • ^^ This. The last 10 is hard, the last 5 even harder. I found my loss almost undetectable. I have to log weight daily here and look at the way the zig zag gets ever more slowly closer to goal (asymptotically approaches for you math geeks out there).... If data doesn't make you squee, then just get a trending app.…

  • Those above are right - running is the only real training for running. If your breathing is the sticking point, your aerobic capacity is the issue and as I understand it, that's heart, lungs, and the mitochondria in the muscles that can do that slow-twitch aerobic oxygen uptake for a long time (layman's terms, runner not…

  • Yeah @icemom011 I read that too as it was in a community thread and I reacted just like you. Felt to me like recommendations meant for people with UNDEReating disorders was presented by the writer as if it was for everyone, in order to further normalize not paying attention to weight.
  • Everything I would have said already covered above. I love MFP. Listen to the responses, OP, and you got this!
  • Serial restarter here too, and this time I made goal and am staying there. Restarting is too hard on my body, I decided. You CAN do this; I had thought I would never be done yoyoing but I feel very hopeful this time, and it's because of the community here. Best of luck!
  • Name: Beth Age: 61 Height: 5'7" Total Weight lost: 20 lbs, but over and over :grimace: Time it took to lose: 5 months this time How long in maintenance: almost 3 months Maintenance weight range: 125 - 130 Average weight recorded from 2017 (12months): guessing 140, max 148 Average weight : 133 (still on .5/week loss plan)…

  • @puttyputty I feel you on the headaches. Caffeine is my self medication, been back and forth with it but now I am settling for the happy medium between headaches and bad sleep.
  • @sunshinegirlnm Sent you a FR! Where you ended up and what you want to lose remind me of me. This is a great thread, glad you found us, you WILL be able to meet your goals!
  • Charge2 here also, 6 months into use. Love it.* calorie burn seems to work for me perfectly, as long as my MFP setting is sedentary. * mile counter underestimates about 10% if I'm striding out walking, but seems fine when I am running. Long legs, short running stride. * wrist based HR calculator drops out or is unreliable…
  • My weight loss life changed when I started looking at 10 day averages. It's there in my spoiler if you want to check it out .... :)
  • Happy day friends! If you had a worrisome weigh-in the last few days, remember that our weight is only information, not a punishment/reward system. It's just one kind of feedback on our progress. Little daily jogs up and down are expected, weight loss is not linear. Yeah it's nice to get "likes" here on a drop, but what…
  • OP glad you are here, this is a great place for sensible and sustainable weight loss WHILE counting those calories. We count them to be sure we are getting ENOUGH to sustain us long term and keep us healthy, as well as to be sure we are in a deficit so we will lose what we want to. Many of us allow some fun treats but make…

  • Ran a couple of miles yesterday and a couple more today. 10.6 miles to BLACK RIDER!
  • Starvation mode is actually not a thing, at least in the popular sense where a person is capable of maintaining or even gaining on a number of calories that would be expected to cause weight loss. There are references to that all over the forums, and the scientific among us (not me) point out articles and studies that…
