Counting all fluids, I can easily come close to a gallon a day without batting an eye. However, I've always been a thirsty person; one of the hardest things for me after surgery was having to take such small sips. I felt like I was constantly thirsty for months. Depending on your reference source, coffee does count toward…

@klingerman73, I had RNY, but we're surgical date buddies! I'm from the Houston, TX area. 5' 4" Starting weight: 285 pounds (23 March 2015) Surgery weight: 256 pounds (13 July 2015) Current weight: 150 pounds, +/- 2 pounds Goal: Still working this out. I was very conservative in the beginning and had set a goal of…

I hit a new distance milestone on my run this morning. 15.4km/9.5 miles paced only about 4 seconds per mile slower than my usual 10km time.

Um, I think you mean pasteurized. Homogenization has nothing to do with food borne pathogens; it is the process of creating a homogenous substance that is resistant to separation...such as homogenized milk.
-
No, you're not. I don't run with my phone either. I use my trusty old ipod Nano to measure and keep track of my miles. It uses older pedometer technology and can be frustratingly inconsistent but it is close enough for my purposes, small, and holds plenty of music.

I love these and think this is the best flavor of what I've tried (peanut butter and the chocolate). The caramel swirl has a nice texture.

There is a vegan bariatric surgeon, Dr. Garth Davis, that lives and promotes a vegan lifestyle. He wrote a book about the potential problems linked to a high protein diet called Proteinaholic. I'm not worried enough to even go vegetarian but I've certainly changed my view on how much protein (especially meat based) that I…

I have lupus and my liver enzymes always run a little high; I can keep them in normal range when I regularly take milk thistle.
-
I also want to add that I am 100% happy with the RNY. I just had some blood work done and my CBC was completely normal...better than it has been in years. I am very good about vitamin compliance most of the time so I'm sure that is contributing but I also realized that I DID need the extra restriction of the RNY and…

I'm not revised, but I started down the road of VSG until it was discovered during my pre-op that I had some pretty advanced Barrett's Esophagus...likely caused by years of reflux. Funny thing was that I haven't actually "suffered" in years but the surgeon surmises that I had damaged my esophagus so badly that I couldn't…

I love both zucchini and yellow squash made into noodles! I like to make a little nest of them in a bit of coconut oil and fry an egg in the middle of it. All smashed together with a wedge of Laughing Cow, salt, and pepper...yum. I do the same thing with baby kale that I've shredded into fine ribbons...Dr. Seuss would…

Low-Carb Enchilada Bake http://www.genaw.com/lowcarb/enchilada_bake.html I made a version of this last night and it was a hit with the whole family. We topped it with plain Greek yogurt, tomatoes, and cucumbers...with a few corn and flaxseed chips on the side. I say "a version" because I'm not very good about following…

@ki4eld and @5BeautifulDays...thanks for the information about your personal experiences! It is really helpful. I actually managed to run 71.5km last week! I finished the week at the same pace as I started the week and felt like Super Woman...but then I was VERY tired. I rested yesterday and I did an hour of kettlebells…

I'm just a little over a month shy of my one year surgical anniversary (July 13). Tomorrow is my weekly weigh-in, but I know I've lost at least 135 pounds. This is me today after completing my 7th day straight running for a total of 71.5 kilometers.
-
I've run 63km (39 miles) in the first six days of this week. If the weather cooperates tomorrow, I'll make at least 70km for the week.

I had RNY nearly 11 months ago, the guideline given by my surgeon is nothing that has more than 10 grams of sugar/serving. Everyone has a different tolerance and it can depend on what else is in the food (fat, protein) that can affect the uptake. I've stuck to this...but haven't managed to avoid some dumping altogether.…

I cook a lot too...I just don't measure anything...lol! I have a tasty tofu taco filling that I should document the next time I make it. I'll add a recipe for high protein pudding sometime this weekend...again when I measure stuff as I add it instead of just eyeballing and tasting.

Try a brand called Lily's. They make a stevia sweetened chocolate that might fit the bill for you. You could leave out the chocolate chips but then I'd definitely add the espresso and maybe up the Chia by 50%.

Yep, assuming it is injection molded, could be the parting line where the two halves of the mold meet.

I mix a small package of sugar free Jello powder into 24 ounces of cottage cheese, portion it out, and refrigerate a few hours. It makes a tasty snack that you can customize in flavor and nutrition (choose your desired fat content). I usually sprinkle it with a small amount of roasted nuts for a little crunch and the…

Thanks. I did some more Google searching and found some good information. It would still be good to hear from someone who had been through it themselves! Do you know the nature of your knee problems? I thought I had joint problems, but added some hot, sweaty, power yoga into my routine and feeling a lot less pain since…

Thanks, but not exactly what I was meaning. Every brand of protein powder has a different size scoop and properties that go along with it. It isn't the nutrition that I'm concerned with but rather having the right proportion of ingredients in order to deliver a satisfactory product. I'm testing a chocolate recipe today.
-
I actually managed something that is quite satisfying...but I'm still working with the proportions a bit.
-
I'm feeling you today. I've had gastric bypass surgery...so there are serious consequences if I were to go on a food bender! I love that it has helped me control my appetite over the last year, lose 135 pounds, and made me a runner...but I make a delicious, fudgy Kahlua brownie with brown butter icing that is amazing and…

Don't tell my husband...but I prefer to run alone! I can get in my own zone and adjust my pace as needed. When he's with me I'm always worried that I'm slowing him down or that I'm in his way. Try it once or twice; it can be meditative and you just might like it more!
-
What do you mean by "need to have"? Like you can't get the food down without moisture? If that is the case, there could be something else going on. Otherwise, it is just habit and willingness. It took about 6 months but it is second nature to me now. It was one of the hardest things for me to change; I'm a very thirsty…
