  • @SideSteel I'll try it out when my Quest is gone!
  • @travisk2011 and @hgycta I bought some of the Quest...it is SOOOOO sweet, but I do like the flavor. I cut it with cocoa powder or peanut butter powder; that helps reduce the sweetness, improves the texture, and adds some dimension to the flavor. I found the texture a bit disconcerting at first...I think maybe the amount of…
  • I made it with raspberries this time, but the nutritional values aren't horrible... http://www.myfitnesspal.com/recipe/view/234485520862333
  • Crescent lunges and pigeon pose helps me a lot too!
  • Week 1 Check-in (31 Jul - 6 Aug) 1. I ran a light week...a bit more than 30 miles in preparation for a 13 miler today (I did it!). 2. Did my strength training. 1.5 hours...and nearly an hour on my bike too. 3. I skipped a couple of shakes this week. I'm going to have a hard time with this one!
  • I ran half marathon distance today!
  • How close are you to a normal weight? That, as I understand it, is one of the biggest contributing factors to whether or not you're "done". I had RNY, but I'd say that my big losses stopped around 6 months post surgery. At that point, I added running to my exercise and lost another 25 or 30 pounds. I'm 13 months out of…
  • I love it on everything and just made a big batch. It freezes well too...just pour a thin layer of olive oil over the top.
  • Adding yoga and Kettlebell workouts have positively affected my running...better times, less cramping, less tightness, better breath control. I also use the elliptical when I am on business trips...I focus a lot on form, extending my stride, correcting my gait, and isolating my lower body. I feel like it contributes in a…
  • Assuming your medical caregiver agrees, the general rule of thumb I got was that I could do during my pregnancies whatever I was doing before. Frequency and intensity should be dictated by how you're feeling and stage of your pregnancy. I was doing Jazzercise 3-4 times a week during my first pregnancy up to 35 weeks. I…
  • Sometimes I have a little something sweet after every meal.. breakfast included! One of my favorites is 14 grams of dark chocolate chips with 14 grams of roasted, salted nuts. Salty, sweet, rich, and satisfying.
  • I'm running anywhere from 20-50 miles a week right now with a plan for a half marathon before the end of the year. I'm a little more than a year post bariatric surgery and couldn't run a mile without stopping in January...now 10 miles is my standard run.
  • Today my run will be a celebration that my body CAN...and not that I HAVE TO.
  • I was grumpy and unmotivated and just feeling out of sorts when I started my run this morning. Apparently that works for me because I ran my 10 mile route in under 96 minutes. That is my best time by almost a full minute!
  • In January of this year I couldn't run a mile without stopping. This past week I ran a total of 50 miles and that included my longest and furthest run yet...12.7 miles in 2 hours and 6 minutes.
  • 1. Complete at least two solid 13.1 mile runs this month. 2. Strength training at least once per week. 3. Attempt to reduce the amount of protein shakes I'm drinking (per the wishes of the surgical practice)...but I do love them so much. I'm not 100% sure that I'm ready to commit.
  • Week 4 (24-30 July) Check-In 1. So dang hungry...but doing pretty well with not eating uncontrollably. 2. Very nearly FIFTY miles!!! Including two runs that were my furthest yet. An 11.5 mile on Sunday and a 12.75 mile yesterday. Most miles in a 7 day period so far. 3. I did kettlebells and yoga this week. Today was a much…
  • @NicoleL874 I made a version of this yesterday with cottage cheese (cheaper than ricotta) and some cream cheese that came out amazing. I added almond extract, chopped cherries, and some dark chocolate chips...classic flavors in a new vehicle. It will be in our regular rotation for desserts. I was pressed for time so I…
  • I'll try Quest then! They seem to be the best rated on Amazon too. I've got some weird aversion to Quest in general; I think it is just because they've become so ubiquitous.
  • A woman stopped me in the store to compliment my arms and asked me what I was doing to get them! Even better that I was wearing a shirt from the girls department!
  • Syntrax is my favorite! But, to be honest, I didn't test a whole bunch. I found something I liked after I could stop the Bariatric Advantage and stuck with it. My favorite flavors for a straight up shake are Peanut Butter Cookie and Mint Cookie. They are all too sweet for me though...I use unsweetened cocoa powder or…
  • A typical week is running 20-30 miles and at least an hour of Kettlebell and/or yoga. I haven't joined a gym for many reasons and have been very happy with my results. When I'm on a business trip I am generally doing a lot of elliptical and yoga classes of I can find them. I often work out twice a day when I travel just…
  • Depending on how sassy I'm feeling on any given day...I tell people that the only people that get to tell me that I'm getting too thin are the people who were brave enough to tell me that I was too fat! For the record, that is exactly two people...my midwife and my Bariatric surgeon! ...and yes, the last few pounds is a…
  • Do you have a Trader Joe's near you? They have a green curry simmer sauce that is dynamite on beef in the crock pot.
  • Warner's No Pinching No Problems Modern Brief Panty is all I've worn for several years now. They were great when I was fat and even better now that I'm not. They make them in other styles...but I've always been a "granny panty" girl. I buy mine on Amazon but I think Kohl's carries a fair amount of Warner's.
  • Yay! I'm envious. I still have a little way to go and need to spend some time stabilizing but I'd love to have my stomach done. I can feel my six pack under there! ...and boobs. They are a sad state of affairs.
  • Week 3 (17-23 July) Check-In 1. Munchies managed and concocted a yummy roasted banana and peanut butter "nice" cream. 2. Logged a bit over 35 miles + an awesome hot yoga class + 2 hours on the elliptical. I don't have to travel this week and going to try and up my miles a bit. 3. I'm counting the hot yoga class as my…
  • I thought I was hardcore getting up at 0400 6 or 7 days a week to get on the road for my run!
  • I have a pair of Columbia Sportswear shoes that I got at the outlet that I love for my Kettlebell workouts. Minimal drop, stable padding but still very comfortable.
  • You look great and your dress is amazing!
