I certainly appreciate everyone’s view thanks :) it’s a scary thought to think of putting a few lbs back on, but I certainly see how it happens, and see how easy it is to slip into old eating habits that are hurtful!

At 6 months my recommended calories was around 1000-1200, and now at a year out I eat between 1200-1500! I also find chicken the most filing protein, especially since I don’t eat fish. I eat a fair amount of eggs as well! It can get boring but you can also buy ground chicken or turkey and do almost anything to it that you…

That’s very exciting! It will be September in no time!

I think there is a lot of other info to consider and there are pro and con with each surgery, however I had a bypass and it’s changed my life. All my pre surgical medical conditions are gone, heart burn gone, diabetes under full control, blood pressure normal. I am a year out and have fully adapted to my new way of life. I…

Hopefully all goes well with the scope :)

Honestly I suggest you meet with a kinesiologist or professional trainer of some kind, every body is built different and how you carry your weight and other physical limitations can be addressed one on one way better! Kinesiologist have college educations in the science of body movement, personal trainers may not depending…

Oh I don’t think maintaining will be simple and I understand that weight gain happens, what I don’t understand is people who go back to the yo-yo dieting, trying whatever is the “hot diet”. This process is about life long life style changes. I was not criticizing an eating plan, having an eating plan is not a fad diet. I…

Yes here we basically only have to attend one or two appointments for counselling, they did not prepare me for how my personal life land my personal relationships, would change so much, when you take away such a huge part of someone’s identity it is a struggle, I’m forever grateful for a husband who stuck it out and for a…

Thanks for sharing. although I’m already at my surgeons idea of a successful weight loss my goal is to loose 15 more lbs before I hit maintenance, I see the doctor in a few weeks for my 1 year follow up and will find out about skin removal! I don’t want to spend the next 40 years dieting, part of the reason I choose…

Baby steps is right!! Hope the scope goes well

It’s been 17 months since I had a carbonated drink, I can’t even imagine how much that would hurt... no plans to go back to it! It’s amazing how one thing can cause so much problems
-
Yay! Hopefully it’s fast now

It’s hard to wait when your waiting for something that will change your life! I hope you don’t have to wait much longer and you get a chance at those job opportunities.

I hope you find your answer, I am over in Manitoba, not sure how different the process is but from the time I got signed off from all the right people, till I met with the surgeon was about 4 weeks and then my surgery was 5 weeks after that!

Wishing you a quick recovery

Every recovery is different, from person to person and surgery to surgery! Plus Walmart is an exhausting place on the best of days lol! I had my surgery on a Monday, was outside walking on that wednesday, off pain meds by Thursday, back to work after 2 weeks!! I have a family member who had the same surgery 2 months after…

The best you can do is make the best decision at the time with the cards you are dealt, I hope you figure out what to do next

Good luck on your new journey, reliving the past won’t change it so wtg for looking ahead :)
-
Hope those go well and your date is soon, waiting for a surgery date feels like torture
-
Any news on your surgery?

Read lots about people’s experiences, I went back a few years in the MFP groups and forums, every question I came up with had an answer somewhere!!! My speed bump was feeling really lonely during recovery when I couldn’t go to work, and didn’t really have the energy to go out with friends yet, my family didn’t understand…

I have not touched a protein drink since my first week after surgery, eat your proteins first that way if you get full you are not skipping them. Lots of food has protein and we don’t really think of it, like peas have a lot of protein and are easy on the stomach.
-
Hope it all lines up for you

Food diary! My surgeon said the number one reason he sees people gain weight is that they don’t log their food! Not necessarily daily, but certainly regularly! For example I log 4 days a week no matter what that day brings.

Oh my goodness I couldn’t imagine eating/drinking shakes long term, I have not had a single protein supplement since I purée foods stage... My calorie goal is 12-1300 with my protein goal being 70-80 grams, that’s what my program recommends, and I find it realistic to achieve

It’s amazing how different each surgeons office/program is, what they teach and offer, thank goodness there are groups of people out there like this one, even with all my programs help, I relied a lot on my peers here!! It was so helpful
