I think that I understand it now. Eat the 1,540 calories, and then burn off 250 calories. I will then be back at my daily calorie goal of 1,290. Thanks for all of the help everyone.

So I should take the 1,290 and subtract 250 calorie deduction from it which give me 1,040 calories. So I should eat 1,290 calories and burn off 250 through exercise to get back to 1,040 calories?
