  • Sometimes with an apple, sometimes off a spoon. What I do to prevent me from eating the whole jar like a gallon of ice cream, I measure a serving size and put it in a small bowl and put the jar away and then go sit down. Then I eat it like ice cream. :)
  • I have gone through this, and it sucks for both parties. I have gone up and down with weight in the last few years, and I notice when I start to lose weight, I am more likely to want to have sex, and when I am gaining weight I am least likely to have sex. This points to a self-esteem issue, but it's more that I do not…
  • I just looked at your diary and wow! That's awesome! (Little late on this thread.) Great job in upping those calories!
  • I would have never thought I had a gluten intolerance either, but I do. I can have it in moderation, I stay away from breads, pastas, and cakes, though. If I have too many carbs in a day, I feel like crap: bloated, anxious, tired. I've cut the majority out of my diet and am thinking of fully taking it out, but obviously…
  • All of the clothes that don't fit me anymore. That sense of "warmth" (When I lose weight I'm always cold) My cat likes my belly to lay on. (But I still want to get rid of my belly!) All the money I will lose buying new clothes.
  • I used to be addicted to lo-carb Monster and then I discovered NO CARB NO CALORIE Monster and was readdicted. I had to stop drinking them because I started having extreme panic attacks, heart palpitations, and my BP went up. Do I blame the drinks? No, I was under a heck of a lot of stress at the time, I just stopped them…
  • Hello there! I see the title of your post was to up your calories. Honestly, it was the best thing I did, but I also am 5'6" and (currently) weigh 179. I lost my first few pounds on a 1200 cal/day diet, and then the weight loss stopped, no inches came off, nothing (though I was not exercising regularly..) I upped my…
  • That's how I make my morning shakes! Never thought to put them in the freezer. Great idea!
  • That is a fantastic blog posting. I've never done P90X, but I can say I have more respect for him after reading that. I love his attitude about having to tweak your diet until you find the perfect one for you. :)
  • If there is a zombie apocalypse, there will still be Twinkies, and I think that may make both sides happy. :) (I could be wrong, I haven't had a Twinkie in forever and have no idea what is actually in them...)
  • I saw Forks Over Knives and I also saw Fat Head. I think both are biased, but I think both get a point across. Neither movie made me change the way I was eating, ie. not only eating plant based foods or fast food every day. It was good to see both, though, because it gives you a perspective from two opposing sides. So if…
  • There are cultures that eat the afterbirth... they fry it up and the men in the family eat it.
  • In most cases, we listen to what the "professionals" tell us. Granted, I think some of us end up learning the hard way (myself included). However, there is no reason to call somebody a fool for listening to their doctor or a registered dietitian when we are talking about health. They are supposed to be the professionals.…
  • I stalked this dude's profile and found this great site for checking out some stats and your BMI! http://www.fat2fitradio.com/tools/ I upped my calories based on this stuff.
  • First off, yes you can be a size 10 at 181, I was a size 8 at 181, depends on how your body is built. Second, I was having a hard time losing weight, so I started just going over on my calories. Not with junk, but with more quality foods. Weights coming off like a charm now. I went from 1200 (nothing happened) to 1500 and…
  • Depending on the brand, 10 or 12. Shirt sizes were also dependent upon the brand at either a medium or large. At 179 I'm wearing a size 8 with a small or medium shirt, depending on brand and style.
  • Discovering alcohol my freshman year of college and binge drinking and binge eating constantly. I mean eating foot long cheese steaks at 3AM and waking up next to the last inch of it the next morning. Those were my awkward mornings. 50 or 60 pounds (don't remember exactly) in 6 months.
  • I think we shouldn't bash a particular way of eating until we've tried it. I personally have tried a vegetarian lifestyle and could not deal with it because it made me feel horrible. I also can't eat a lot of carbs because my liver does not process them properly. I also can't eat gluten. So, I guess I get most of my energy…
  • I work in retail and I set mine at lightly active. If you read the examples, it says Sales Person, Nurse, etc. Mind you, I do heavy lifting at work sometimes and also climb ladders, but this is not every day.
  • To be honest with you, I had to up my calories to lose weight. They had me at 1200, I stuck to it, and nothing happened. I upped it to 1500 and I'm losing slowly. I looked it up based on my measurements and BMI and should be eating about 1600-1700 a day. (This weekend I hit 2k each day and lost 2 pounds...) 600 NET is very…
  • BUMP! Probably will use real lump crab meat instead of imitation.
  • I have the same problem. I double up on the bra to keep them separate.. I have heard champion makes a great one for D, DD ladies, but haven't tried it out yet. Plus they're expensive :(
  • The first time I lost weight... my cup size went up. They have stayed that way now for about 5 years at a DD. My band size changes, my cup size stays the same. I come from a line of well endowed women, so I think it's genetics. I wouldn't mind going back down to a D. Easier to find bras!
  • Those look great! Thank you for sharing this!
  • This made me giggle. Anyway, that happens to me as well. You're probably raising your tushie from all the strength training, so it appears larger. I'd rather have a firm, raised tushie than one that is... floppy... I have no idea how to describe it. Have you tried cardio to burn off some fat?
  • I've never heard of Culvers, but I live on the east coast... that meal sounds great for me, especially when talking about fast food!
  • Cadbury mini eggs are exactly what I was going to buy. However, I knew the bag would already have disappeared by today. I can't eat them in moderation. Put chocolate in front of me, and it's over. Therefore, I'll only eat them if they come in a tiny bag.
  • My family is very similar. Long lived, meat eating smokers. I'm not saying that's the healthiest way to live, I'm just going by what my family has experienced. The only instance of an early death was my grandfather, who smoked 3.5 packs a day, drank a bottle of Wild Turkey Whiskey a day, and was morbidly obese and did not…
  • I tried the low fat, barely any meats deal a few years ago... and was extremely depressed a few days in. I had meat again and felt better... I admit, I eat a much higher protein/fats diet and not many carbs, but I feel really great on that type of diet.
  • Plenty of people in my family lived until their late 90s eating meat everyday. Each person will react to foods differently. Personally I cannot have a lot of carbs or my liver gets messed up. I also can't have gluten. Therefore, I refuse to also take meat out of my diet. Meat and veggies are delicious together. I have no…
