@gmabethof3 , thanks for checking in. I am so sorry that things are so difficult for you and yours. The children are so lucky to have such an engaged grandmother. Your son being home will be a help, I am sure. Have a good week, or at least the best you can in the circumstances. I will be here next week (and perhaps during…

Nov 4: 164 Nov 11: 164 Nov 18: 163 (-1) Nov 25: 163.5 (+.5) Dec 2: 163.5 (no change) I saw 162.5 on the scales this week but not this morning. Sigh. I keep thinking of you @gaylebodine and @gmabethof3 and all that you two are going through. I know it is difficult to add to your 'to do' lists but I have to admit, I am…

Yes, a very good read. We still have a way to go to "mainstream". Thanks!

@EbonyDahlia , I am sorry for your loss. It must have been hard having food arguments with your Dad when he was following his doctor's orders. I am very grateful that my DH doctor happened to go to a LCHF conference at the right moment for my husband's care. I don't think everyone at his office has quite got the High Fat…

@RowdysLady , oh poor you! Sales final! I remember being on the other end of this problem. I was happy to go shopping with my mum and choose for myself (of course, she always had major input). But I was happy having her to myself for awhile. Good thing you started early for Christmas!

I am frustrated too. Sometimes, the numbers seem to lie. :/ My weight is the bouncing ball routine. Up and down, up and down. But at least the down is settling in at my lowest point. So just staying the course and trying to get it to move again. Still trying to balance carbs and fats so me and my doctor (who is old school)…

Well.... 4 days of trying to stay consistent. I have to admit, I am discouraged. My neck woke me up again last night. Pain is gone this morning but lack of sleep never helps my mood. I walked yesterday again. A good thing, I went about 4 -5 kms uphill out to the highway. Peter was in town mailing Christmas packages to Oz…

Hi all, Good to hear from you! Black Friday isn't a 'thing' here although we are importing it a little to keep Canadian dollars from leaking over the border. But with our dollar's fall in value against the US dollar over the last 2 years, it isn't such a worry anymore. I am back from the big city. We enjoyed our holiday…

Hi Beth @gmabethof3 , your load is a bit heavy at the moment. Dieting takes a back seat to all else. Just take care of yourself in all of your activities. I am better this morning (although not completely mended) but I stepped on the scales and I am down a lb and 1/2 overnight. Just so you what stress and inflammation will…

Oh, people, there are people here! So excited! Pam, @MapDancer , your cupboard is so beautiful. And it is a purpose designed room too. My cupboard is part of our diningroom and I am always concerned about moths and other gremlins so my fabric is all in plastic ziploc bags and jammed into my cupboard. Not near so pretty. On…

Day 7 Week 2 Yeah!!!! Scales were down. Nov 4: 164 Nov 11: 164 Nov 18: 163 (-1) I am trying to stay with logging. Even going back a day to complete the logging. I am also trying to stay really honest about the log. I was pleasantly surprised yesterday because I was still on track despite a surplus of rice crackers…

It is great news that a show like this is prime time. I watched a British show not long ago that simply made me sad and mad. Two people who had struggled for years with diabetes and obesity, both of whom where eating poorly with lots of donuts etc and beating themselves up over it. Then the NHS lined them up for gastric…

Day 6 Week 2 Well, it is Thursday. And I am still here, talking to myself! :'( We have an Ohio low bearing down on us on the weekend, so the weather is going to change from really, really warm to really, really winter overnight. Haven't got the snows on the car so I think that is today's activity. Weight in tomorrow and…

I just bought "The Low Carb Diabetes Solution Cookbook" by Carpender. Looks good! Bumpppp

I have a recipe for pork rind dressing. Sort of a substitute for stove top dressing. I has some mixed reviews online though. And I have not tried it myself.

Day 5 Week 2 Tried to go golfing yesterday. It is about a 40 minute drive south of here. But there was so much fog that it was impossible for anyone to golf. Warm weather and cold lake water are combining to create fog the moment the sun comes up. We are going to try again on Friday which is the last day before the weather…

Day 4 Week 2 Changed my profile goals a little to more reflect me. It did help to redefine things more closely. I stayed the course today. Exercised by finishing our leaves. Ate appropriately. Feeling stuffed so I think I over ate at dinner but I did log everything and it says I am within all my goals. Golf tomorrow.

I just found this and although it is geared towards low carb dieters, I think it applies to all dieters and I guess every change we want to make. It is a podcast but very short; less than 5 minutes. So, I have added a step towards goal. I am going to review my profile and see if my "whys" are still true and still resonant…

Hurray! @gaylebodine I am so glad you found a place. The lake and rec centre sound fantastic. I hope it becomes a sure thing soon. You need a break. There is someone on my roof at the moment clearing eaves of leaves and scrapping moss off. I guess I could get the blower out and do leaves but his truck is in the way. I…

Day 3 I just cannot get on track. No nuts but I ate chia pudding as well as going out for lunch. I had a beef pattie without a bun and a salad. But too much fat. Apparently chia seeds have a good deal of fat. Sigh. I was trying to add milk and fiber and I thought chia seeds were good for me. I went to see my brother and…

Day2 Week 2 'No nuts for a second day and the scales budged a little! I did Ok with food (even took the crispy coated skin off my chicken) but I couldn't fall asleep. 3 episodes of Games of Thrones got me wired. I took magnesium (I have a hot drink) but that did not help. Go into the crackers. Ate about 400 calories worth…

Well Day 1 Week 2 Not so good ..... Ate a homemade soup for lunch and was in the bathroom for the afternoon. So soup hit the garbage. I froze it, it thawed, it upset me. No idea. We were invited to neighbours who were up for the weekend to do their leaves and they won't be back until January. That marks the end of any…

I am with you too. Very difficult. I am gluten and lactose intolerant and my doctor wants the fats reduced to 25 - 30% of my diet. I would ask more questions about the fat because you cannot go fat free as a sustaining diet, as the others have said, you need fats to live. (Although if you are overweight, your body has a…

@canadjineh , that is a grueling schedule. Good luck with the sleep reset. And the surgery. Fasting, easy peasy!

Hi Ladies, Beth, I am sorry to hear of your SIL being back in hospital and ICU too. The granddaughters must be upset. Good for you for looking after yourself in this and being a steadying influence for them. Tough times. I will be cheering for you to be in the 170's for the New Year as I look from the 150's. My scale…

Day 6 Yesterday I made my new shrug and I like it and it will be warm. I did not use the expensive trim. I did not like the look so I am going to save it for something else. Peter thinks it is OK as long as I don't wear it anywhere but home! Food yesterday was OK except that I ate too much so I only had 130 calories left…

Day 5 Yesterday I needed retail therapy so I went and bought some double sided fleece and I am making a shrug. I fell for some knitted trim for it. It was 50% off so without thinking, I added it to my pile. At $8 a meter, and trimming a large circle of fleece, getting 6 meters sure added to the cost when I got the…
