4 really good female friends, and my husband. though i could probably include a few of my parents' good friends, they've sort of adopted me as an honorary niece. :)
-
i have a 'workout play list' on my zune that includes pink, lady gaga, bowling for soup, metallica, ac/dc and areosmith. awkward mix i know :)
-
mine's basically a fancy way of saying one mistake does not equal failure. :)

I lost 4 inches from my midsection in the first week (between my bust, waist, belly button, hips and thighs). :) (but gained almost an inch in my biceps/triceps!)

I have heard that before the weight is lost fat cells sort of deflate, causing the soft jiggly fat. I've noticed that before a pretty significant whoosh when I was losing with low-cal, so it's entirely possible. :)

Many people will gain weight at first, I did for sure, as their metabolism learns to trust them again. However, it doesn't last, and you will most likely lose inches in the process. I hid my scale for the first month so I can adjust to the process and woo my metabolism into trusting me again... I've been starving it for so…

I cannot WAIT to get started. I have fallen in love with moving heavy things around. :D

I typically either eat a banana or throw one into my post-workout protein shake. it's a pretty carb-y fruit. :)

I just ordered mine today... can't wait to get it! :)

I've still got 100-110 pounds to go to hit my goal of 160-170. I'm 5'9 and just recently started. I think it will be much easier to reduce my calories from 2600 than from 1600 to keep the weight loss going as I lose weight. Feel free to add me as a friend if you would like. :)

That's great!! Congrats!

This is me! I am at 2600 calories per day, and if it weren't for protein shakes I would have a hard time hitting the calorie goal without going to junk food. It was a stretch at first, but now I'm finding myself hungry if I don't get to at least 2400 in a day. Crazy! :)

Hello and welcome :) I think as long as you eat enough to NET your BMR (meaning when you exercise, eat back enough so that your net is over 1563) that you will be fine. Good luck and make sure you snoop around, lots of valuable information nuggets spread through the stickies!

I always exercise at night... we usually spend from 10pm to 11:30pm in the gym. I know it's supposed to give you energy, but I come home and suck down my protein shake, take a shower, and by the time my hair is dry I'm ready to pass out! I have definitely noticed I sleep much easier and without the help of sleep aids like…

I went up right away from 1800 to 2600, and I lost 3 inches overall in the first week (no pounds yet, but something's shifting if I'm losing inches!). I'm not afraid of the pound gains because I've seriously abused my metabolism in the past and like any relationship, it takes a long time to earn the trust back... and my…

Welcome aboard and good luck! :)

I had a similar issue in the beginning, adjusting to the new macros can be a challenge. Food-tetris if you will. I forget who said it, but I saw it in one of Gemi's comment chains and I've loved the analogy ever since. I don't track sugar anymore, because I'm a fruit fiend, and if I were to follow the sugar guidelines I…

i use this same stuff, and if you aren't afraid to get a little creative with additions it can be pretty tasty. :)

my favorite one in the morning is just adding some ice and instant coffee. coffee flavored protein. hello energy! i also add strawberries and a banana sometimes. another one that i like, that's probably not very healthy, is a small scoop of vanilla ice cream, with a little milk and ice and protein powder, and then toss in…

What makes it better is he was out with a bunch of other preacher types :) Us Lutherans love our food and drink. Yay German traditions!

I second this, all of it. I'm ravenous today... it's only 10:30am and I keep wanting to raid my kitchen. My typical 2 eggs+cheese, banana, and coffee smoothie for breakfast just DID NOT FILL ME UP.

Hello MommieJohnson! I totally understand the "How the heck am I supposed to lose weight eating more?! Isn't that how I gained weight in the first place??" mindset. I just shoved my way through it recently. A brief summary of my story: last year, at 27, I was 300 pounds and about to get married. I wanted to lose weight for…

mine's from a country song by travis tritt. "And I thank God for the blessing That I finally learned this lesson: One step in the right direction Is worth a wasted mile behind"

Once you have your TDEE you subtract 15% (you would get a cut of 1945)... That's your calorie goal, exercise cals are already included so you don't have to eat them back, unless your workout makes you net below your BMR. For example: if you eat your 1950 calories, then you burn 400, you are netting 1550 calories (1950…

I measure several points, because the more places you check, the better overall idea you can get about your losses. "bust, waist, hips" only tells part of the story, so I do neck, bust, waist, belly button, hips, right thigh, right calf, and right bicep. Sort of an all over look, and shows me where the fat is coming from…

I don't know about the NROLFW program (that book is on my to-buy list) but I still do a mix of cardio (because I do need the cardio work, it's strength training for my heart muscle :P) and strength training, I just try to alternate days and make sure that if I burn enough that I go below my BMR that I eat enough to get…

I am posting again because last night's NSV was just awesome (to me) I managed to do a set of single arm bicep curls with 25 pound weights :D And when we moved over to the evil machines, I could do as much, or MORE THAN my husband at every station. :D I know they are not ideal, but they are available and until I get the…

When I first started with my heart rate monitor, I was burning between 800 and 1000 calories in the gym... but I am also a pretty unfit 270 pounds, and that would be the combination of the warm up walk/stretch, the strength, the hour of cardio and then the cool down walk/stretch, 2 hours from walking out my front door…

love it! *wanders off to pick up heavy *kitten**

I only monitor the 'carbs in general' option, with the macros modified to 40% carbs, 30% protein, 30% fat, my other two I track are sodium and fiber. I have no idea about 'net carbs' so I can't offer much on that one, but I don't track sugar because I'm a fruit FIEND and if someone took that away from me I might have to…
