  • Hi Jenny! Congrats on your upcoming wedding! My husband and I are celebrating our first anniversary on May 21 :) In my first week I gained pounds but lost inches so something somewhere got smaller and denser. I've found avoiding the scale and trusting the tape measure is the way to go in the beginning. It takes a leap of…
  • I have recently added one of my favorite dishes back into my rotation, that I had to take out because of the olive oil and butter. I brush tilapia fillets (though this would probably work for any fish) with a mixture of olive oil and garlic powder, sprinkle with black pepper and parmesan cheese, and bake at 350 for 20 mins…
  • It happened to me too. The first couple of days I was SO STUFFED then the next couple of days after that I couldn't seem to stay full... but today is day 12, and everything has settled down for me again. I get hungry when I'm supposed to, and I don't feel hungry when I'm full. It's probably just your metabolism kicking…
  • i 'spose i should change my profile picture then, eh?
  • no, i wouldn't. not because i'm against plus size dudes. i like my dudes cuddly and all... but let's be real here. i'm fat. if he's fat too... the logistics of sex just would not work well. been there, done that. it was not pretty.
  • for some reason at almost 300 pounds, and barely fit at all... i thought i could do billy's boot camp DVDs without issue. HA! i'm still working my way up to those so they aren't a waste of money. i think i got them almost 8 years ago.
  • I get the "feeling like a stuffed pig" thing. My daily calorie limit is 2600, and unless I throw in low volume calorie dense foods, I have trouble meeting it without eating junk. But I will say, I am much happier cooking with a tbsp of olive oil than spritzing the pan with cooking spray! :)
  • yeah, have had almost 2300 for day... and i've got more scheduled for after my workout, a protein shake and a banana.
  • Yeah, HCG is a no-no. Food is good, metabolism is good, and muscles are good. Eat, work out, and live! :D I'm sorry I don't have too much advice to offer you, other than make sure you calculate your numbers with the provided links and make sure you at least net your BMR every day so your body can function :) I am still…
  • I'm loving it! And it's only been a little over a week for me... and I've already lost more inches than I did in all of March! YAY FOOD! :D
  • thank you! i've heard everything from "inaccurate waste of money, get calipers instead" to "it's awesome, buy it, buy it now!" of course the one person that was negative nancy was a guy that always has something negative to say to my questions. meh. i deliberately didn't want to get calipers because i want to be able to do…
  • they probably were not hugged enough as children. you will survive!
  • I am Christian, without caveats. Our household is big on the "judge not" side of things. "Love thy neighbor" says nothing about "unless your neighbor is X" so that's what we do.
  • a banana and a coffee flavored protein shake
  • I couldn't get to the gym last night because my husband was out until after 11 eating wings and drinking beer with the boys... we're not in the best area of town and I don't like walking alone at night, so I stayed home and dusted off my hand weights set. I did some floor exercises, but I was excited because when I had…
  • i don't take too many.... (when i remember i take some or all of these) vitamin b complex (for energy) vitamin c (so I don't get sick) multi vitamin (usually just on vacations when I know I'm not eating right) and i use the body fortress whey protein chocolate powder from walmart because it's what fits into my budget (poor…
  • saving some of them to make a patchwork quilt! a few pairs of jeans and some of the more brightly colored shirt and dresses that are too worn to give to charity will get cut up into 4x4 patches and i will make a lovely quilt out of them. :) the rest go to charity, probably donated to my husband's church.
  • my husband and i spent our entire engagement in a long distance relationship. i lived in virignia and he lived in south carolina. not horrible distance, really, only 6ish hours drive time, but between his schedule and mine we only got to see each other once every 4 to 6 weeks, and rarely for more than 2 or 3 days at a…
  • i love this advice. it made me smile :) i upped my calories by almost 1000 (yeah, that much) to fuel my workouts and my life after a month long stall in march. the first week in, i lost 4 inches across my mid section. however, i'm a lot larger than you, but i feel much much better now that i'm not starving myself. :)…
  • i used to eat this combination on toast when i was younger. my parents would always cringe. i just remember it being tasty! things like that are why i keep my food diary closed. also because i usually eat a lot more than people would be comfortable seeing..;. even though i've been losing inches in the process.
  • Oh good! That means it's a good thing, not that I'm dying or suffering from some weird plague thing. Thanks!
  • I'm close to your situation. I am 5'9 and 270 and moderately active, so my TDEE - 15% is around 2600 calories per day. I am almost always at or around 2600, and it only took me a week to get there! The trick is to add the healthy fats back in, and eat full fat yogurts and such, instead of the 'light' or 'diet' stuff. I…
  • I posted this in another thread, but I thought I'd add it here as well :) Start Measurements: Weight: 272 Neck: 16 Bust: 51 Waist: 45 Belly button: 49.5 Hips: 54 R. Bicep: 15.5 R. Thigh: 29 R. Calf: 18.5 Week 1 Results: Weight: ? <- not gonna weigh until May 1 Neck: 16 Bust: 50.5 (-0.5) Waist: 44 (-1.0) Belly button: 49…
  • i would set your activity level to moderately active and not count it as exercise. all of your regular daily routine stuff should fall into your activity level, and then extra exercise counted in. :)
  • i hated working out at first too. i had to work my way up to spending an hour or so at the gym. i started simple. turned on my favorite music and just danced around the house singing like i knew how. i'm sure if anyone had seen me they'd probably think i was having a seizure and screaming for help. but by the end of a few…
  • this one. if you don't eat, you don't fuel your body properly, and it holds on to fat which is stored energy.
  • congrats to you! :) i upped my calories by a significant amount a week ago. i think i've gained a couple pounds (but that could also be TOM) but i have lost 4 inches off of my midsection in that week. (between bust, waist, belly button, hips, and thighs)... so i call it a win. :)
  • that i am a pastor's wife. :)
  • personally, i don't care if my husband goes. i even tried to get his friends to find him a stripper for a bachelor party before we got married. absolutely nothing wrong with checking out the scenery. though his boss might care. i don't think the bishop would appreciate one of his pastors frequently attending strip clubs. :)
  • I pretty much avoid the advice-seeking threads. Most people who post questions looking for advice to a personal situation have answers they want to hear, and others will be ignored or rejected. Very few seem to want legitimate advice, most seem to want justification for believing what they do. I especially avoid the diet…
